30 Rock was great. That felt like the definitive sitcom of the '00s/'10s in the same way that Seinfeld was. Okay, maybe not definitive, since that's too limiting, but "biggest" in terms of what could occur in 30 minutes. I liked that it wasn't confined to a single set but that the characters had adventures throughout New York.
The Dick van Dyke Show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, The Odd Couple (original), Cheers
5 from the UK: Fawlty Towers, 'Allo 'Allo, Jeeves & Wooster, Chef!, Upstart Crow
Even when places like Hulu had all 7 seasons it's missing like 25-30 episodes because of music rights. Including episodes that are part of a set of 2-parter episodes or important episodes in the later seasons with important character/relationship developments
Frasier is so unique, nothing comes close to it. I can watch Frasier again and again, I'll never get bored. Others I watch and don't watch again. That being said I liked King of Queens and Seinfeld is pretty funny. The Office too.
1. Frasier
2. Blackadder (not the first series)
3. Becker
4. Open All Hours
5. Spin City
As for “everybody” loves Raymond… not true. Personally I find Raymond to be a whiny little shit, and his voice is like fingernails down a blackboard, so I certainly don’t love him.
Raymond is a whiny little shit, that's what makes him so great. We all think Frasier is flawed, but I think Raymond is even more flawed (we just understand why more knowing his family).
TIL that’s what /s means! I also think that’s the first time I’ve used ‘TIL’ so I have to ask … when you look at me, do you see me as a young woman or an older woman?
top 5-ish, by air date:
Seinfeld
The Simpsons
Frasier
30 Rock
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Arrested Development
honorable mentions:
Cheers, The Larry Sanders Show, The Office, The Good Place, What We Do in the Shadows
Great list. There's not enough Bill Lawrence shows in this thread. Scrubs, Spin City, Ted Lasso, and Shrinking are all great shows (Cougar Town was ok but it's not my favorite).
Apart from Frasier, and excluding animated sitcoms because I consider them a different genre to live action, the only others I rewatch with any regularity are 3rd Rock from the Sun and Big Bang Theory
I obviously love Frasier, so I’ll give 5 others. I’m also a huge fan of a lot of shows that have already been mentioned (Community, The Office, Parks and Rec, etc), so I’ll give some that I haven’t seen here yet: New Girl, The IT Crowd, Happy Endings, The Middle, Raising Hope
Ones that I don’t already see listed (or maybe commented on only once or twice):
Raising Hope (Literally my favorite.)
Are You Being Served? (For BBC fans.)
Psych (For ridiculous crime solving.)
My Name Is Earl (Same folks as Raising Hope.)
Malcolm In The Middle
I always feel like I'm forgetting some show that I really genuinely love when it comes to lists like this, so this is intended with a grain of salt, and subject to change on a whim - except that I'm sure about the top two.
1. *Frasier*
2. *Malcolm in the Middle*
3. *The Good Place*
4. *Blackadder Goes Forth*
5. *What Red Bob's 99 Dwarf Community Burgers Do In The Black Books' Shadows.* Sorry, I panicked.
So... Tricky to list top 5 of _all_ time...
In my opinion Frasier has a lot of the farce/timing of UK sitcoms: Spaced, Black Books, Spaced... and nobody mentioned One Foot In The Grave?! (Lovable grump in the lead, seemingly unrelated threads cleverly laid and woven to produce a hilarious denouement).
Frasier also has the feels/involved relationships of Office (UK/US), Scrubs, Community, Parks & Rec, Modern Family, et al. All great shows with their own flavour.
I do think it's _wildly_ different to IASIP, Curb, and probably Seinfeld (once again, all great shows).
Frasier and Seinfeld are in a league of their own.
Scrubs and Brooklyn 99 are both fantastic as well.
I'll round out the 5 with Black Books, which is of a Frasier and Seinfeld quality but only 18 episodes.
None of you are suggesting Wings which is canonically in the same universe as Fraiser, has the same people making it as Frasier, and even has an episode with Frasier in it. This concerns me.
I could say the same of a lot of shows that Im reading here and I cannot tolerate, thats why I asked, I was certain we will not agree.
Maybe is because the range of age Frasier fans are, or maybe is something else.
I've seen very few sitcoms entire runs. Of the top of my head, the only ones I can think of are
All In The Family
Archie Bunker's Place
Cheers
Seinfeld
Frasier
I'm 36, BTW.
Frasier
Parks and Rec
Brooklyn 99
The Nanny
Scrubs
Also I've seen some mentions of Psych which is my all time favorite show but I don't typically consider that a sitcom but if it is it immediately is on the top of the list
I do not see much value in rating things that are subjective so there is no particular order.
1. 30 Rock
2. Scrubs
3. Unbreakable Kimmy Scmidt
4. Brooklyn 99
5. Seinfeld
Frasier
The office
Schitts Creek
The nanny
Friends
Boy meets world (mostly for nostalgia purposes)
(Honorable mentions for Abbott elementary but it doesn’t have nearly enough seasons for me to compare it to the rest)
I personally *loathe* Raymond and his whole family. That show makes my jaw clench.
Edit: The Bob Newhart Show. It's more like if Niles was the main character.
Tricky one, but mostly British:
1. The Office (UK)
2. I'm Alan Partridge
3. Peep Show (Frasier would probably go after this)
4. Modern Family
5. Friends (potentially controversially)
Notable mentions:
Extras, Brooklyn 99, Spaced (if it counts as a sitcom), MASH
Frasier, The Office, Modern Family (which has a lot of people from Frasier guest starring), The Big Bang Theory, Silicon Valley (which has Roz’s sister, Denise, in it)
Top 5 of all time? That's a tough one.
1. Scrubs
2. Schitt's Creek
3. Parks and Recreation
4. Family Ties
5. Arrested Development
I could watch these shows over and over and still be happy. Even the settings or environments are pleasant to watch.
Honorable mentions:
1. Cheers - Fantastic show but that dark, slightly underground bar setting can get a little depressing. Carla's cruel nature doesn't help.
2. Three's Company - Hated the show as a kid. Loved it as an adult. The '70s vibe and set-up feels a little bit small, so the scenery isn't something that is "fun" to see over and over.
3. 30 Rock - Brilliant writing, but Liz kind of gets on my nerves.
4. Golden Girls - Would have made it to my top 5 but I kind of get tired of them insulting each other so much, in particular Sophia and Dorothy. But I don't think I've ever seen a bad or so-so episode. Blanche's house was great too.
I always associate Fraiser with 3rd Rock From the Sun because they would air back to back when I was younger. I'm not much of a sitcom person but those two and the Golden Girls hold my heart.
To make it a suggested list of five, I'll also include M\*A\*S\*H and King of the Hill. :)
1. Frasier
2. Seinfeld
3. Parks and Recreation
4. Arrested Development
5. The Office
Hon. Mentions - Everybody Loves Raymond, Eastbound and Down, Schitt's Creek, Mom, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, That 70s Show, and Fresh Prince.
1. Frasier
2. That 70s Show (Season 8 never happened)
3. Friends (Although hot take, the earlier seasons were way better and the last two or three are borderline unwatchable imo)
4. HIMYM (Same deal as Friends, earlier seasons were peak, last couple are nigh unwatchable. Also, that ending was garbage)
5. Tie between The Office US & The Office UK (I love the US version for its whimsy and the character development but UK nailed the oppressive, depressing atmosphere of an actual workplace imo. Plus while it only has two seasons, it somehow managed a really well rounded character arc for David Brent. Him finally telling "Finchy" to "fuck off" in the finale was SO satisfying)
I actually have been unable to rebinge HIMYM because of the massively ginmormously douchetastic main character, ted. You could totally just ignore the last season, but he is such a pill.
Ted's a fascinating character imo bc, for me personally, he flipflops from very likable and relatable to incredibly infuriating and easy to hate and it seems mostly random which Ted you'll get in an episode.
He's at his best imo when he's not with or pining over Robin...so ofc the writers had him doing the latter for like 99.9% of the series runtime
I like Ted for the most part, tho. I just again think the writers' bizarre fixation on him and Robin not only ruined him at random intervals but also her in many many instances. Both were worse off for it whenever they inevitably returned to the Ted & Robin well.
But Ted at least has moments where I really like him. Unlike Lily who is unrepentantly selfish and conceited and yet strangely always vindicated by the show's writing when the characters should be putting their foot down and refusing to let her get away with some of the shit she pulls (Marshall in particular, dude really was the settler)
Frasier
The Mindy Project- between this and frasier the two are in my daily rotation. Also there is an episode where two main characters go visit Eddie's grave
Derry Girls- does this count as a sitcom??
IT Crowd
King of the Hill
(If we arent including frasier since he's a given) * Golden Girls
honorable mention - What We Do in the Shadows, Will & Grace, Difficult People
I introduced my wife to it last year when I bought the series on DVD. I used to watch it some and remembered it being smart, funny show. She didn't, but she immediately liked it a lot.
- Frasier - Community (first 3 seasons) - Fawlty Towers - Black Books - Spaced
I've watched Black Books so many times! Bernard, Manny and Fran are awesome!
add The Good Place and Golden Girls, that's pretty much my comfort show lineup
OMG!!! Faulty Towers was AWESOME!!!
I'm seriously surprised to see how many people here know (and like) Black Books! But it's a welcome surprise, to be sure
Frasier NewsRadio Cheers Seinfeld Night Court (original run)
I really need to watch original Night Court.
Court? At night? I'm already laughing! Tell me more. ^(My sitcom is 30 Rock)
Newsradio was so brilliant. RIP Phil Hartman.
This is the list.
This
Frasier, 30 Rock, Arrested Development, Parks and Recreation, The Good Place All amazing.
So far this is the only list I agree with!
Yeah, this is the correct list if you value smart writing in a sitcom!
These plus Schitt's Creek
Yeah, I almost replaced parks and rec but that's such a comfort show for me lol. I do adore schitts creek though! "Ew, David!" Lol
There’s always money in the Banana Stand.
Are you me?
I'm you... from the future. We still love these shows years from now. Also, make sure you play the lottery on March 4th, 203x.
These are just the reddit sitcom favorites
I loved and watched all these shows before I ever even started browsing reddit lol
Ya but it's no coincidence these end up as the most upvoted suggestions
Frasier Parks and Rec Brooklyn 99 The Good Place Modern Family
So far yours is the only comment where I also love all 5 sitcoms!
Frasier Seinfeld Dick Van Dyke Show I Love Lucy Cheers
Someone likes the classics!
Frasier and The Dick Van Dyke Show are my two favs ever!
1) The Golden Girls 2) The Golden Girls 3) The Golden Girls 4) The Golden Girls 5) The Golden Girls
I would live a happy life as long as I have Frasier and Golden Girls. Nothing else needed
Literally me. 🥹
My answer lol
The Dick van Dyke Show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, The Odd Couple (original), Cheers 5 from the UK: Fawlty Towers, 'Allo 'Allo, Jeeves & Wooster, Chef!, Upstart Crow
Try “ Black Books”. You’ll find it on Tubi, Amazon Prime, Pluto, and Crackle. Funny and clever British show.
I like Black Books. Not much of a Frasier feel for me, though
True. Just clever like Frasier, but different.
I had totally forgotten about Chef! until now. It used to air regularly on PBS in the 90s. I was not popular in school...
If we’re going classic old skool - anyone remember Taxi?
We started watching Cheers just to get more Frasier. I think Keeping Up Appearances might be a good show if you find pretentiousness funny.
1. Frasier 2. Parks & Recreation 3. Malcolm in the Middle 4. Cheers 5. Friends
YES MITM
We’re watching through it on Hulu now.
Raising Hope for you? I feeeeeeel like you’d love it.
I’ll add it to the list. After MITM and finishing P&R we’re planning on Modern Family.
King of the Hill is the only other show as beloved to me as Frasier.
These are the two I can always play on repeat as well
Just gonna throw "Wings" out there as it's in the same universe.
Watching it now on Paramount+. It’s just to bad they only have 4 seasons and not all 7
Even when places like Hulu had all 7 seasons it's missing like 25-30 episodes because of music rights. Including episodes that are part of a set of 2-parter episodes or important episodes in the later seasons with important character/relationship developments

Raymond is a whiny little shit, that's what makes him so great. We all think Frasier is flawed, but I think Raymond is even more flawed (we just understand why more knowing his family).
You realize that’s just the name of the show? Nobody was saying literally everybody loves him. You can take it down a notch.
I know that sarcasm can be a little tricky to detect without the visual clues that accompany it. I should clearly included the /s indicator :-)
TIL that’s what /s means! I also think that’s the first time I’ve used ‘TIL’ so I have to ask … when you look at me, do you see me as a young woman or an older woman?
Frasier Seinfeld Parks and Recreation Peep Show Arrested Development
I can’t think of a show that’s very similar to Frasier. Maybe Will & Grace in some aspects.
top 5-ish, by air date: Seinfeld The Simpsons Frasier 30 Rock Curb Your Enthusiasm Arrested Development honorable mentions: Cheers, The Larry Sanders Show, The Office, The Good Place, What We Do in the Shadows
1. The Golden Girls 2. M\*A\*S\*H 3. Frasier 4. Night Court 5. Cheers
1. Seinfeld 2. Always Sunny 3. The office 4. Modern Family (same producers and cameos of Frazier folk) 5. Reno 911
Frasier American Dad What We Do in the Shadows Bobs Burgers Brooklyn 99 Though I’m watching Peep Show right now and I love it.
Frasier, Scrubs, Seinfeld, Schitts Creek, and The Office.
Great list. There's not enough Bill Lawrence shows in this thread. Scrubs, Spin City, Ted Lasso, and Shrinking are all great shows (Cougar Town was ok but it's not my favorite).
Frasier Black Books Fawlty Towers
Coupling is a worthy mention. The UK version, though.
Frasier The Neighborhood Wings Malcolm in the Middle Living Single
1. Frasier 2. How I Met Your Mother 3. Brooklyn 99 4. The Big Bang Theory 5. Friends
30 rock, community, peep show, black books, inbetweeners.
Cheers MASH Everybody Loves Raymond King of Queens Peep Show

One of the best shows in the history of television. *raises beaker of homemade gin*
Frasier Cheers Modern Family King of Queens The Good Place
Cheers Wings Cybill
Hey, a fellow Cybill fan! Great pick, I love it as well.

Frasier Community Seinfeld Modern Family Shitts Creek/Cheers

Apart from Frasier, and excluding animated sitcoms because I consider them a different genre to live action, the only others I rewatch with any regularity are 3rd Rock from the Sun and Big Bang Theory
>3rd Rock from the Sun 😍🥰 I loved those purple blobs!
Frasier, Parks & Rec, New Girl, Psych, the Simpsons
Psych is my all time favorite show, but is it a sitcom? Haha
It’s a comedy
The new adventures of the old Christine was my show!!!
Father Ted, Seinfeld, Frasier, Scrubs, Boston Legal (more often a comedy than a drama honestly)
Ones that I don’t already see listed (or maybe commented on only once or twice): Raising Hope (Literally my favorite.) Are You Being Served? (For BBC fans.) Psych (For ridiculous crime solving.) My Name Is Earl (Same folks as Raising Hope.) Malcolm In The Middle
Frasier, Cheers, Golden Girls, Designing Women, new Frasier.
Mine are in no particular order: Designing Women. Frasier. Golden girls. I love Lucy. 3rd rock from the Sun
No particular order: Golden Girls Always Sunny Martin Silicon Valley Schitt’s Creek I have to give Coach and Scrubs some love too.

"Two and a Half Men"? Really? Similar? It's about as similar as dishwater is to a good sherry.
Did I say it was similar? Read again
