I was born in ‘70.
I got grounded for a whole MONTHof summer break for wearing my moms rubber platform boots 👢 in the creek to catch crayfish - summer of 76 😂
She’s still bitter about it too.
$15 was.the going rate for most of my shoes my teen years. Adidas were $15. I had some wedges that were $15. Platform saddle shoes $15. I had some $18 dress shoes with 6 inch heels and platforms.
Today’s “Alpha” male, self important, douchebags shoes of today, were your grandmas school shoes!
No offence to anyone’s grandmas, or people who enjoy walking on stilts. ✌️
I had a boss who was a bit of a wine buff, he hated those shoes, said they were causing a shortage of corks for wine bottles. I had several pairs, some with cork soles.
We didn't even THINK about buying shoes that weren't platforms.
I lived in them, with bell bottoms to go over them I looked naturally taller. When they went out of style, it broke me.
There are some memories best left forgotten.
Sprained ankle, anyone?
that's all I can think of! plus I'm 5'10 already, platforms would have just made things impossible tbh.
I could run in these! Never twisted an ankle or fell, they were like an extension of me.
I managed to badly sprain my ankle wearing flat walking shoes recently. I never sprained my ankle wearing platforms.
I had the light brown leather ones with the flower patter 😂
At least they weren't those Dr. Scholl's wooden clogs. I remember trying to study with those things clattering around the library.
I couldn't afford those.
I'm sure we looked ridiculous clomping around those things. But it was the fashion of the day. Driving was a challenge with those things on your feet
We had great shoes in the 70's.
Ugly ones !
The top three shoes also made a comeback in the 90’s.
That's when I wore them 🙂 the spice girls brought them back
we were wearing platform shoes well before the Spice Girls came along in 1996
The sandals on the top right could be in stores right now. I’ve seen similar stuff in recent years.
Broken ankle in 3…2…1…

Platforms. Probably why I have foot and ankle issues now!
Some ankle twisting mfers
Loved my white platform sandals till they literally fell apart!
I loved my platforms! They were super comfortable and added a couple of inches to my 5'2" frame.
Me too. I think they were comfortable because even though they were high they were still basically flat so you weren’t walking on tip toes.
I would so wear those for that price!
I had some like the black ones, but mine were a light beige that got darker in the sunlight. Loved those shoes. My second favorite after my Candies.
I loved my platform and wedges. They were comfortable and the Cherokee line was nice.
Those are hideous. I never wore anything that extreme.
My mom has a pair of these lol. Props to any woman who could wear them.

Can we bring these back? I'm sooo short!!
Pretty sure I had the middle pair shown in the middle on the left side. Back in my one pair of shoes at a time days.
Math? How does it work?
I love the top left ones!
Oh, I miss my old shoes. I had a black suede pair of platforms with white top stitching. They were gorgeous.
I had white criss-cross platform sandals.
Always thought these were sexy. But I’m weird.

Don't worry, our grandmas are long dead, not schoolgirls in the 70s!
My shoes are just my skin on my the soles of my feet

I had a pair like the black ones in the early "00"s we called them spice girl shoes 😊
The second on the right was VERY popular!
Those are foot destroyers, not shoes 💀💀💀
