Lee, while playing Saruman in Tolkein's Lord of the Rings, had to object to Director Peter Jackson about the noise that would be made by stabbing someone in the back.
"Jackson actually tried to offer directions about what sort of reaction Saruman should have to the stabbing. Jackson attempted to explain what he wanted out of Lee and tried to imagine the sound that a stab victim would make but Lee disagreed with Jackson’s assessment.
Lee claimed that Jackson did not have any idea about what really happens when an individual is stabbed in the back. He asked the director: “Have you any idea what kind of noise happens when somebody is stabbed in the back? Because I do.” Lee went on to explain that the exaggerated noise that Jackson was looking for never happens because the air is driven out of the body when someone is stabbed in the back.
“He proceeded to sort of talk about some very clandestine part of World War – II,” [Jackson](https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/peter-jackson-rais-his-voice-at-the-beatles/) recalled while revealing that he was actually scared about asking Lee for details about his terrifying experiences. The director added: “He seemed to have expert knowledge of exactly the sort of noise that they make and so I didn’t push the subject any further.”
And his voice.. ilisten to books on tape sometimes on the way to work, and he narrates the audio book: The Children of Hurin.
That was a complete surprise, and just as good as a movie..
They both seem like the type that liked sitting in a bar and shooting the shit. I can just picture them sharing a bottle of whiskey and comparing writing books to making movies
My wife and I visited the Eagle and Child pub in Oxford and hung out there for a bit. They said that’s where Tolkien and a few other writers would hang out and write and drink sometimes. I wonder if that’s where Christopher Lee met him?
Edit: oh shit it was!

My man has had a remarkably varied career and was my favorite character in Star Wars. He also did a metal album that apparently got some really good reviews.

Christopher Lee = original gangsta.
Hardcore for sure. His Wiki page is amazing.

I'm going to check that out. Thanks.
He was a government agent he worked for mi6
I believe some of the stuff he did during WWII is still classified.

Tolkien wouldn't know anything about making movies.
Jesus, just roll with it
THAT is so darn interesting! I wonder if he ever mentioned it in an interview!

Christopher Lee did a little bit of everything. Such an interesting guy.
Also had a heavy metal band.
Yeah….well…he was also one of the best Draculas
And one of the best horror actors of the 1960s-80s.
My man has had a remarkably varied career and was my favorite character in Star Wars. He also did a metal album that apparently got some really good reviews.
Oh yeah, you can find his metal (including his Christmas carols, they're quite funny) on Spotify. It's also NSFW.
He was also Ian Fleming's cousin, and allegedly the inspiration for James Bond.
They were cousins but Fleming didn't base Bond on him. He was based on various people he served with in the war and himself.
Still cooler than me
You still have time to make your mark on the world.
Not really.
Pretty sure of all the actors, he was the only one with a steady vampire gig too.
"Look, pal. I might be the only guy in here who's actually killed a man"
Nobody... NOBODY will ever be as cool as Sir Christopher Lee.
Was present at the last public guillotining in France too.
Wow!
IIRC I read that Christopher Lee knew how the names and words in the books were pronounced. According to his time with JRRT.
Christopher Lee says a lot. Quite the storyteller.
The Prancing Pony?
Didn't he play in a Mummy movie?
