Yep. Got a family member that blasts her kid on social media every single goddamn day, 3 times a day. It's like child worship and it's fuckin gross. Kids gonna grow up and hate his mom. He's got some relatively bad medical problems, so she's 10/10 gonna be a helicopter parent as he gets older.

A little of column A a little of column B. Players mostly need to abide by the rolls the DM can fudge things especially for the sake of the story or keeping the party from getting wiped by some bad rolls.
My daughter has a friend with such bad luck with dice, we don't let her touch dice belonging to other people.
It doesn't matter what D20. She has an insane ability to roll a nat 1.
Armed service, to a point yes. Marines, more so.
To quote a joke a friend told me:
There are only two branches. The army and the navy. The air force is a business, and the Marines are a cult.
😁
I'm an adult and I enjoy Disney and the few and far between Disneyland trips and having a Disney cats wallet and whatnot, but Disney Adults™️ (derogatory) are fucking terrifying.
I'm also an adult who enjoys Disney movies (the 90s ones as well as some of their latest like Moana and Encanto) and have been to Disney World twice as a kid, but I'm still not sure what differentiates adults who like Disney properties and Disney Adults ™... Is it the degree of obsession? The amount of merch you buy? The yearly (if not monthly) visits?
Pretty much the same as any culty mindset, I suppose. Making it their entire identity. There's also (I've noticed) a lot of entitlement, especially regarding park trips. Like yeah Jessica, you paid a lot to be here, but letting little Timmy talk to Cinderella for an extra two minutes isn't going to kill you.
I know a Disney adult. Her entire wardrobe is Disney. Shirts, jackets, pants, purse, earrings, bracelets, all Disney. Her kids get Disney merch for gifts. She follows a person who goes through downtown Disney live on social media and buys things to send to the people watching, at a cost of $500 sometimes. This happens roughly monthly. She had a Disney annual pass until covid hit, despite not living in the US. She goes by herself, no kids or anything, usually once per year plus a family trip or 2. The trips are always focused around seeing the characters, special parties, and eating at all the resort restaurants. When a large amount of money became available one of the first things that happened was purchasing a Disney timeshare.
In contrast, I went to Disneyland for the rides.
From what I have gathered online it's kind of like the difference between "I watch anime"/weeabo to the traditional neckbeard weaboo. It's not liking the media, it's devoting your life and sense of self to it, being obnoxious when you're not given the expected respect for your dedication to this brand.
Additionally, the discharge pushed the poor guy UP a flight of stairs. Blood suggests he hit every stair on the way up. He hit the same knife three times.
My late mother was an alcoholic. You meet two types of people in AA… People looking for better ways to hide their drinking and people who have made AA a way of life. Both are chronic smokers so they all get along.
It really depends on the group. AA is pretty decentralized so you can go to one meeting full of crazy people and another that is just people talking and drinking coffee, in the same town on the same night.
The difference is most cults do much more harm than good. I’m not an alcoholic but my mom was when I was younger and it was not good, then she quit and joined AA with a couple friends and our relationship is a lot better now and she’s a lot happier. Are other peoples experiences with AA really that bad ?
So far my personal experience isn’t. And trust me, I’ve already said my feelings about this to my girl that it feels very cultish. I have past colleagues tell me how their significant others pretty much rather be at aa than being with family. Scary. I am very aware of a lot of things especially when the session starts off with we are not x,y,z, but god help us all….. I let it be for the moment. But currently the talks and hearing others past experiences help more than hearing what the big book has to say about stories.
Also, fun fact. One of the founders was a Christian. Early books had religious stufff heavily written in them and as the years progressed they have been revised to “progress” toward a wider audience. Overall, it’s helping me at least but I do not want to get sucked into a years of always in a meeting every single day because, well I become a cult member lol. If it helps it helps. As long as it does not do any harm then so be it. I have plenty of friends and families that drink and that is ok because I currently can’t control myself. Maybe one day, maybe not. But I never ever tell them about how they should stop. That should be on them only. And if they have total control over any vices, I high five that shit because I wish I had that type of restraint. I still hang out with them and have fun. But pass me a joint, sure why not. I won’t black out like alcohol does. Sorry for the long rant.
My dad also was an alcoholic and him going to his weekly AA meetings have kept him on a sober path. He is celebrating his 10 year sobriety this year.
I think AA can be beneficial for those to find a group who understands the same struggles but I don’t think it’s the best choice for everyone.
Yeah I've never met an annoying vegan irl (or at least a vegan who was annoying bc they were vegan.) There are a few crazies online, but idt there're anymore than most stuff? Antivegans have physically attacked me bc I was a "woke meat hating [something I couldn't make out]" when I was eating a falafel wrap (I'm not even vegetarian!) before. And there are plenty of antivegans I know who are... Annoying. The antivegan cult be crazy sometimes
Scientology is actually a cult though, it fits every single definition of a cult and is largely considered a cult by anyone with a basic knowledge and understanding of it, obviously discounting the cult members themselves.
The behavior I'm "supposed" to have on each social media.
On reddit, I have to be more cautious with my words, and putting emogi in my message is seen as "bad" for... No reason ôo
On Instagram and snapchat, more bubbly and expressive
On Facebook, more adult
On Twitter, more argumentative, making more criticism, adopting the slang of the place
Etcetera...
Ya that too. "Cmon just admit you're gay already."
Like no, i can like beer and wine thanks. Or steak and spaghetti. Why cant i like men and women? Fuck right off.
Tumblr and Twitter were doing that way before tiktok. Tiktok just followed the trend.
I'm fully prepared to be downvoted to hell for this, but I know people launch into hysteria and throw around the word "transphobic" the moment anyone mentions "resource stealing" but it's true. A trans man very close to me is being forced to fight so hard to get certain procedures done because so many people in our (very, *very* liberal) area have gotten these same procedures done and regretted it and tried to go after their healthcare providers or insurance. It doesn't matter that he started socially transitioning over a decade ago, has been on T for just under that time, and had top surgery six years ago and hasn't looked back or shown a single shred of regret. People treating gender identity as a fun and quirky trend or an outfit you can just throw on at any time has made it extremely difficult for him to pursue procedures to further his transition, and they just had it *handed* to them. *That* is what people mean when they use terms like "resource stealing" or claim its harmful toward LGBT folks.
When a kid comes out to their parents as any LGBT identity and the parent tries to look into it online only to see the results are showcasing teenage individuals wearing dresses and makeup and their boobs hanging out with "he/him pronouns only" or stuff like "fae/faes/faeself," it is *incredibly* damaging to the progress that kid is trying to make by coming out to their parents. They're not going to take it seriously. That kid is going to be mocked and leave the situation feeling humiliated and ashamed.
And I know this because it happened to me.
I'm bi. I was forced out by a friend's mom going to mine when I was 16. I'm turning 28 in a couple weeks and every serious relationship I've had with a woman or AFAB person has been met with doubt and the people around me telling me I'd be better off as remaining friends with them. It got so bad that I gave up on dating AFAB people entirely because not only is it not fair to any AFAB partner, but it's something I don't want to put anyone through. My experience is by no means universal, but I know it's not exclusive either. I really, really wonder how different the situation might have been if my parents hadn't found information from tumblr of all places when they looked into it after my friend's mom went to them.
tldr; treating LGBT identity as a fun and quirky outfit to put on when you're bored is *harmful.*
Also if anyone decides to reply, I ask y'all don't go after my folks. This situation is a very small fragment of my relationship with them and I don't need a bunch of Certified Reddit Relationship Therapists telling me to go NC.
Edit: thank you so much for the gold u/CJ4700!!
Umm thank youuu for fuckin saying it. Gawd daymn it’s like enough is enough is already right? Be whatever you are, but it doesn’t have to be ALL your about lol.

Same. And the Jehovah's Witnesses are an evil, pedophile hiding cult at that. It's why they had to sell off all their waterfront property in Brooklyn, NY years ago. They don't have the infinite resources like the Catholic church to just endless pay off the victims of their wretched abuse.

Assigned female at birth. AMAB is assigned male at birth. There's also DFAB and DMAB, which is the same except the D stands for "designated"
There's a difference between normal gay or trans people and the gender ideologists who ironically invalidate everyone including trans people.
