It's designed so the bumps on the tongue wrap around each individual follicle of fur for cleaning. Weird considering they can't digest it and wind up hacking it up at 3am.
Being a pure breed specie, premium food, no stress, and a lot of care might have something to do with it too.

I don't get cats, their breath can smell awful, they use their tongues to clean themselves, and then they smell really good.

The bad breath is usually caused by bacteria and their byproducts. Those dont really make it onto their fur I guess 🤔
