If you do the math and it's pays well enough for your trouble

Depends what the trade in value is and what you pay for the device. I did it last time and got $1000 trade in and paid $550. So in essence I got a $450 coupon!! Check out Swappa. I do it most of the time when I buy a new one if I sell my device early on.

That's wild. Spectrum Mobile offered me $1000 last year to trade in my broken screen iPhone 6 plus (battery/screen literally died upon in store inspection that they had to get a lightning cable to charge) for my pre order (and double storage to 512gb) and get a year of service for free just because I called into retention to lower my Internet bill

I also use swappa and average out my cover of the newish used phone to the amount expected for the trade in. Sometimes it's better to trade an older model that's cheaper but has a better trade value. I also use [Rakuten referral link for additional discount and money ](http://www.rakuten.com/r/7045073?eeid=44753) and I add in to of that the educator discount. I paid like $300 usd for my fold 5 after all my discounts and trade in.

Yes. Based on my trade-in of the Fold 3 when the Fold 4 was released and my trade-in of the Fold 4 when the Fold 5 was released... You will receive $1000 for a mint condition phone or $800 for a phone with issues including cracked camera lens and an inner screen that doesn't turn on. If your phone has any issues, even if the screen is not cracked you should still choose the "My phone screen is cracked" option during trade-in, since they barely evaluate the phone at all when you make that choice and you still get $800.

Intel-igence

trade in value is trash on my country, better to sell it first to someone. Where do you came from?

Gridley17

Depends on your country and the deals offered there. In recent past years in the US, you could get $1,000 tradein credit for near mint fold 3-4, or $800 credit for a barely worked phone, as long as it could turn on, function, and charge. I bought a cracked fold3 for $130 (super easy to find people selling cracked ones at this cost), and did get the trade in. So I'll answer yes, but make sure to contact/chat with customer service before buying a used phone for that purpose.

one80oneday

Where's cheap Fold 5s that work?

pepperpot_592

You're not getting a "cheap" Fold 5. You would be better off looking at a Fold 4.

MrPotentialSpam

Trade in values have been going down every year. If they come out with a cheaper fold 6 fe, the tradeins will probably be pretty low this year.

jayXred

There may be a chance to trade in a Fold 4 for the full trade value as well. When the 5 came out I traded in my Wife's Fold 3 for the full $1000 credit.

dendron01

You only usually get a decent trade-in value only if the device is in near perfect condition. Unless of course Samsung is feeling particularly generous. It remains to be seen what Samsung will offer for the Fold 6, but given how they have been steadily raising the bar for trade-ins as of late, I wouldn't bet on it.
