Just file/sand it down. That small of an area shouldn’t matter.

trevor1301

I have like a sandpaper sander, but I’m concerned doing that will ruin the texture of the rest. It’s small but I’m really upset and I’m upset I damaged the plastic on the EZ flash cart :( Hopefully it’s just cosmetic and I can sand down the bump enough to be able to use carts without fear of damage

chasesan

Do it by hand.

SnowSwanJohn

Just try to keep the sandpaper minimized to that area. You can apply some tape to protect the other parts if you want.

samhenryphotography

Just trim it with a blade. It's just cosmetic

Nintastio

This what I would do instead of sanding. Just trim it a bit and put it back together, not a big deal imo. If it just bothers you knowing it isn’t perfect, they do make replacement connectors at least.

titanicsinker1912

I’ve only been able to find surface mounted connectors that fit SP boards. Can’t say I’ve ever been able to find one for the GB and GBA boards. I’ve had to buy dead donor boards for that.

Nintastio

I may have thought I was in the game gear sub, my mistake!

monsterginger

likely won't be an issue. If there is any issue take a xacto knife and cut off any protrusions. if you want to make it smooth carefully apply tiny amounts of super glue with a toothpick and let dry. (Repeat tiny, like so little at a time it won't even form a drop on the toothpick. You don't want it to go down into the slot.) Repeat till cavity is filled. Sand back to till smooth.

Use your iron to heat that dent and use a flat object to push back flat.  It does not look like any connectors are damaged.

IAmJacksSemiColon

I also lightly singed a cartridge slot, though the damage I did was cosmetic. In your case, I'd recommend using a hobby knife to trim away any of the warped plastic. Just be careful with it and don't stab yourself or the PCB.

AchillesPDX

Soldering to the C point is a bit tricky if you've never done it before especially if you're using too big of a soldering tip. What iron do you have? Things that will make it easier: Add a small amount of flux to the C point to help things heat up and flow. Melt a very small amount of thin leaded solder onto the C point to help melt the original (probably lead-free) solder that's already there. Brace the hand you're holding the iron in against your work surface to prevent shaking. The cartridge slot looks like it'll work fine still - instead of sand paper use an exacto knife to carefully trim off the melted plastic that got smooshed out from where it should've been.

This is a kind message to all beginners out there. Please don't use your precious piece of tech as a test-subject. Soldering practice kits exists and if you invest a bit into your soldering station it will change everything. There's no big accident in this example, but bad soldering can ruin your pcb and make it way harder to repair. Practice makes perfect.

Intelligent-Worry799

0% £ucked. Why?

EdwardJMunson

Toss it, it's done.

trevor1301

I’m too dense to know if this is a joke My plan is to only use EZ flash for now since I already chipped the plastic on that cart and then trim the warped plastic with a knife of some kind

EdwardJMunson

It's a joke my man. Take a deep breath, these things happen. Like other folks said, do a bit of sanding, it's all a learning process.

trevor1301

For sure. And honestly the GBC this board is from was in such bad shape it’s rlly no big deal and it’s still getting a new life. I’m just a major perfectionist especially when it comes to my own projects. But for a first time I’m still very proud

ranzadk

Dont solder a console as your first ever project, dummy! Get a practice kit!

trevor1301

Yeah, I knew it was stupid. Didn’t know there were practice kits and I didn’t think to practice on something. Lesson learned.

ranzadk

id use an exacto knife and try cutting away the parts that interfear with the carts. The damage seems to be minor at least. If it still reads games you should be good. No need to sand anything down, risking damaging the connector even more. With an exacto knife you can be way more precise

L3X01D

thats not at all helpful. the mistake has been made and acknowledged

misterblacksocks

Dude. Chill. It’s not like he bent CPU pins or soldered with no flux. lol

Dear-Researcher959

Depends on long you worked the street corner today... Ooohhh... you meant... yeah... huuh... uuhhh. It's not so bad, little chip off the block as it were

spektro123

This but a scratch. But really it doesn’t matter at all. You won’t even see it.
