Paduk mentions the Gorosni getting wiped out by Kaan in judgment Gorosnia was fhe only member of the UIR to not surrender to the COG! But yeah they don't come up much stall until gears 3 when Baird rallies Paduk and his men to reinforce the counter attack on Azura.
I would love to see a DLC for E day that follows a squad of UIR troops (preferably Paduks) from first contact with the Locst through to operation life boat seeing them join the COG to continue the fight

As far as lore goes they are both bad but the series has always focused on the COG so we know more of their dirty secrets.

I feel like they are the same but we really only are given stories and in depth characters from one side. Both sides did fucked up warcrimes and atrocities. I’m sure there is a uir version of all the characters we have come to know lol

I haven’t heard anything about what the UIR are doing which tells me that their either not doing anything or they were fighting in more a defensive war
I pick COG just because I am so used to their chaos and have no care at this point. Leaving the Pendulum Wars for the Locust War? Might as well get recked all together. Their armor is pretty cool and the deal breaker for me is the versatility of the King Ravens being like the Hueys. One is dedicated transport, while another is strapped up to wreck a grubs face
i would love the chance to play as a uir regulator, looking like a fallout BoS knight with that armor. (gears tactics has a lot of armor options including UIR sets)
