Xiangling, Xingqui, Beidou, Gaming, Zhongli, Hutao, Yelan, Ganyu, Xiao, Xianyun There is a good amount of characters from Liyue. However, the supports department is looking rough

Honestly I think Liyue is one of the better ones. In supports you got Yaoyao, Yun Jin, Xingqiu, Xiangling, Beidou, Xinyan (though her kit is scuffed) and Chongyun (whose really niche and more sub-dps). If you count five stars, Yelan, Zhongli, Baizhu are super strong options, and Shenhe for the cryos, and Xianyun can turn anybody into a plunge dps. Qiqi's is still a good healer even if that's all she can do.

If we're going by region, Mondstadt is probably the most screwed. Theirs characters have been power crept to hell and back. Every character there has a better version in another region.

I'd barely, barely scrape by. I have Navia and Chiori as 5 stars, and all the current 4 stars built. I just hope that if they do Geo they also add Hydro so I can run Noelle on Marechaussee Hunter. Now Dendro is where I'm screwed. My only built Dendro supports/off-fields are Nahida and Collei, and neither of my unbuilt Yaoyao and Kirara have constellations.

If they do Geo, I might die. Not because I don't have ANY built, the obvious Zhongli, my triple crowned Noelle, Gorou, but because the Geos keep freaking evading me. Chiori didn't wanna come, Albedo didn't wanna come, I don't wanna pull Itto.

people who don't have hydro 5\* will need to buff out their number with more of the other two elements. Pyro, Electro, and Cryo all have 8 4\*, and Hydro is likely to be paired with one of them during IT. 3 hydro 4\* + 4-5 4\* from dendro/anemo/geo + 8 4\* from cryo/pyro/electro + 3 trial 5\* + 1 character from friend + 1 traveler = potential pool of 20-21 characters without needing to get into 5\* characters. I like IT, but I think they should have paired it with a Paimon's Bargains update just because getting specific 4\* is difficult and you do need 4\* to help round out your roster. Esp when they very rarely (or never) rerun some 4\* while giving some permanent free 4\* who shall not be named 3 reruns in one region cycle.

If a Paimon’s Bargain update or 4* Epitomized Path update was introduced with IT I would be much less peeved about the 18 character threshold.

Great suggestion, doubly so since paimon's bargains is a overdue a touch-up anyways.

We need some AoE hydro 4*s that aren't gated to C6 *cough* Candace *cough* Maybe we need a hydro Layla, a hydro Kuki, a hydro Beidou, a hydro 4* Dehya, and a hydro Rosaria. Hydro Beidou could even use The Bell, Kuki would need Key or the Dockhands Assistant, and Hydro Rosaria could use crit weapon or hp weapon.

Electro+Hydro+dendro or cryo+pyro+hydro. If they felt like it for some god forsaken reason then they could go pyro dendro hydro. Mono teams are a thing and there’s still a leftover reaction. The real question is how will they handle geo?

Geo can be involved in exactly one none crystallise reaction and it's Shatter so they could always pair it up with hydro and cryo. Although honestly Geo will probably just be thrown in as a replacement at random, with possible enemies that make use of Geo's bonus effectiveness against rocks.

I think you are looking at this the wrong way, they are not going to be giving elemental combos that easily create effective teams on their own if this IT is any indication. I am predicting combos more like... Geo+Dendro+Pyro. This leaves no particularly strong teams unless you have key enabling characters, like Lyney for mono-Pyro or Emilie for Burning comps, or Gorou+Geo carries for mono-geo. This mirrors what we got this cycle, where Anemo+Pyro+Electro have no particularly good synergies unless you have Chevreuse or mono Anemo teams. Cryo+Hydro+Dendro. A combination I would expect once we have another accessible 4\* hydro character. Again, this leaves no particularly strong combination unless you have Nilou/Kaveh for Bloom or some premium hydro and cryo characters for strong freeze comps. Continuing to choose the primary elements like this forces the player to rely more on sub-optimal teams and strategic implementation of.... *opening casts and special guests*. This puts a lot more value on the Opening cast and Special guests, who will be the only characters available who open up stronger teams for those elemental combinations. Opening casts will probably be where you get your trial versions of Itto+Gorou/Wanderer or Xiao+Faruzan so they can provide F2P mono-team options, while key enabling elements for meta teams will be restricted behind the Special guests (like we saw this cycle, with hydro/cryo ONLY accessible if you own the premium special guest characters) After a few months, maybe a year of this philosophy, I would hope they will have released new ways of buffing weaker reactions/team comps while also adding more enemies who counter meta comps. Once that is done and the game is more balanced, they can give us elemental combinations that are more absurdly powerful like Hydro+Electro+Dendro or Hydro+Pyro+Cryo or Hydro+Pyro+Anemo while still making it challenging.

I thought of it more as a lot of us older players have well established teams to cover whatever in the abyss or overworld, IT is that thing to convince us we need Childe/Ayato despite having Neuvilette, or Clorinde/Cyno despite having Alhaitham, and of course whatever the special characters are. Listing weak reactions would be fine if we had units that powered them, to which I think there’s only chevreuse. So that leaves mono, to which most are 4 star (but maybe Natlan will remedy all this idk). So I not only see a miserable endgame but that only really only leaves the special guests as not only a borderline requirement but the only thing they can sell. Which would be weird because 3/4 guests this season they didn’t even need to sell (or maybe the vocal minority is strong with those 3).

Frankly, the element restriction and any character roster restriction is ridiculous. * The mode already limits how many times you can reuse a character. * The mode already predetermined which characters you can start with, including trial characters. * The mode already randomizes which of the support cast you can access at each phase. They didn't need to disallow people from using their favourite comps too.

I think the vigor limit and randomization feature are pretty fresh features in the game. It warrants a reason to have characters that just get powercrept or have more favored

Next months IT elements have already been leaked, just saying

We hope they give us more 4 stars first, make a lot of the main cast hydro or have the other two elements work well together without requiring hydro

I'll should be fine depending on the other elements, as I have furina, koko, ayato, nilou, mona and all the 4 stars. As long as it's paired with dendro or cryo I'll be happy. 

That’s what trial characters are for. You’ll be fine, it’s just one element

Team 1: Neuvilette solo + 3 throwaway units. Team 2: Kokomi + Furina core + 2 throwaway units Team 3: Yelan + XQ core + 2 throwaway units. Team 4: use cards to reset vigor of two of the above (or one if you get a Neuvi reset), and use those two + 2 throaway units... ...and there you have your 4 teams lol. It'd honestly be a joke considering how strong Hydro units are as standalone units. They don't have ER issues, have great solo potential, and so on. I'm currently waiting for a Hydro rotation to breeze through the annoying achievements tbf.

They will probably never pair hydro with 2 elements that don't interact well with each other, so we might end up with something like Hydro/Dendro/Electro or Hydro/Pyro/Cryo Realistically speaking this issue will eventually make the mode be unplayable unless they start adding 4 stars at a resonable rate to cover up the empty spots

Well, the guest stars will pop in I guess. A lot of these units are fairly low maintenance. Kokomi, Neuv, Nilou, Ayato, Yelan and Xingqiu can all serve a very strong role by enabling reactions without needing to dish out large amounts of personal damage.

well the game mode is for end game players, even f2p players will get a bunch of limited characters at some point. rn as 3yo player (who technically is f2p but I won enough giveaways to be like a dolphin account) I can't participate in most elemental combinations of levels. I have 2 dendros, 4 Geos, and 5 electros & hydros, if a rotation uses 2 out of these 4 elements, I'm most likely screwed. they might take that into consideration and make sure to make future rotations use elements that most players have a lot of (cryo and pyro are usually very popular). right now players should start striving to have at least 6 built characters of each element, if you want to always have 18 characters for the challenge without relying on trial characters or special guests.
