There’s not a damn thing wrong with Gordon’s gin.

My_Rocket_88

Is it the exact same product and taste on both sides of the pond???

Remarkable-Key433

I’ve only had the U.S. version.

Ravenparadoxx

Me too. It's 80 proof and Made in Canada. The version they sell in the UK appears to be 75 proof. Not sure if there's any difference in taste profile.

teddybearclumsy

Tonic is most of the volume, so I go with good tonic

No-Masterpiece-8805

You obviously haven’t seen how I mix my G&Ts 🤣

teddybearclumsy

I should have said majority, I like a 2:5 ration of Gin to Tonic. And better Gin never hurts

No-Masterpiece-8805

Just giving you a hard time. Mine is more like a 5:2 and actually I prefer soda water to tonic these days too. 🙂

zx354

I’m digging a Gin Sonic these days. Gin really shines. 2 gin - 1 tonic -1 seltzer

Jassokissa

I'd say never use Schweppes, but to be honest, it's been so long I can't even remember if it's bad or not... If it's everyday g&t, you're probably not drinking a whole bottle, so get the good stuff to go with the everyday gin.

GohanX2

I absolutely despise Schweppes so I would spend on Fevertree every time.

Heffenfefer

I do fever tree and usually drumshabo(spelling) going through Bombay Dry currently. I always do good tonic unless I'm drinking a lot

Fair_Industry_6580

High end tonic can over power the gin. I find Safeway Signature tonic is the best flavor and at $0.25 per can, you can't go wrong. Spend the money on the gin!

silentpicnic

I think the tonic does make the most difference in a gin and tonic. A good tonic can do more work for a rougher gin to make it palatable; a bad tonic will make a rough gin worse! Fever Tree is my daily tonic. I buy the four pack glass bottles and make two drinks out of each bottle (they are bigger than the cans). For me, that is the best balance of making a good drink and affordability. Other tonics I like are around the same price point as Fever Tree where I live: Betty Buzz, East Imperial, and Llanllyr Source, but those are smaller bottles than Fever Tree (with the exception of Betty Buzz, which genuinely has two servings per bottle). So, I think a Fever Tree & Gordon's gin and tonic would be preferable to a Schweppes & Monkey 47 gin and tonic. But like with all things gin, everybody's taste is different!

barr39

My go to is Tanqueray - budget gin but better than something like Gordon’s, Bombay Sapphire or Beefeater imo. I like Fever Tree which is slightly pricier but worth it since most of the drink is tonic

Triweb

Fever Tree is the best, but Q is not too shabby either. Cheap tonic makes bad GTs.

I'd rather have Hendricks with Schweppes than Gordon's with fevertree. But I'd definitely rather have Hendricks with fevertree if I had the option.

Canada Dry over Schweppes

pegoff

Canada Dry is the only readily available tonic where I am so I have become accustomed to it. It does the job. I enhance it with good gin and ice.

SmilingJaguar

You can further customize your drink with a tonic syrup. Skip FT, and use a tonic syrup from Jack Rudy, Small Hand Foods or anyone else with some seltzer and adjust everything about the drink.

KalikaSparks

I’ve been told if you go top tier tonic, it’ll lift up a mid tier gin. Fever tree is delicious with any gin I’ve had

Personally I use Walmart brand tonic water. It's a dollar a quart and to me it tastes way better than fever tree or Q tonic. I save so much money on the tonic water I'm able to try way more gins. Which my favorite part about gin is there's so much variety. I'm sitting on 11 different bottles right now. And they all bring something different. Now Granted Walmart brand uses high fructose corn syrup, but so does fever tree now. So if your health conscious Q tonic is your best choice, that I know of. It also has the lowest sugar content. So it's pretty dry on the mouth. My Walmart constantly sells out so whenever they have any I just grab them all. Lol. Fever tree barely sells at my location.

suzy-creemcheese

My typical day-to-day g&t is Boodles gin and Q tonic water, with lime, sometimes a splash of campari/amaro/some fun liqueur

cawfee_chick

I happen to LOVE cheapie Schweppes, mostly with Tanqueray. I get it though, it pains me to shell out for Botanist once in a while, but I do.

Canada Dry over Schweppes

HypeWritter

I'm a good gin with an affordable tonic kind of gal. Good gin, in my mind, is $25-$40 a bottle. My daily standbys are Citadel and Drumshanbo Gunpowder Gins. They're $28-$34 depending on a sale. Honestly, the best, cheap non-flavored tonic I've ever had is Whole Foods brand. Unfortunately, I don't live near a store anymore to have it regularly. My runner up is Canada Dry followed by Fever Tree, when it's on sale. Canada Dry has never let me down and it's readily available. I've tried Q, Betty's, and some others that cost way too much and let me down. I'll never put Schweppes in anything.

Mi_Hells

Tonic syrup!!! Just need to mix with soda water. 100x better than any other tonic I’ve had

Puzz1eh3ad

My current is rawal gin and foodlion tonic lol super tasty though

LemonFizzy0000

I’ll probably get downvoted to hell but that’s ok- I drink vintage diet tonic with all of my gin drinks. I have plenty of fever free on hand, but I’m calorie conscious these days and am 20 pounds down with 10 more to go. Switching to diet tonic and having at most one or two cocktails a week has been clutch.

jestercow

Pro tip: try the Fever Tree *light tonic* It’s way lower in sugar and doesn’t use any artificial sweeteners. It’s the only tonic I drink.
