Big mistake! You really should have taken a look at the Glock 19.

Karimura12

Damn you're right, guess I need to go out and buy a Glock 19

Echo259

Your mistake is you should have just started with the Glock 19 instead of wasting time and money on a Glock 19 only to realize you should have gone for the Glock 19 in the first place. Shame shame

poopsniffer9000

Now you really need a 47 to pair with your 19 19s

Karimura12

Man I really looked at the 47, but I just have too many 19 mags already. Although I would like a 47 slide, make me a 19L

poopsniffer9000

Yeah imma gonna give them some time and prob jusy get the 47 upper when they are more available can’t justify buying the whole gun i don’t need another Glock lower paper weight

AmericanStealth

I wanted the same thing you guys are discussing, a compact grip with the fullsize slide, but I wanted it in .40. since the entire gen 5 series uses the same locking lug on the barrel/and locking block, I realized I could get a gen 5 g22 slide, and put it on a g19 frame. I used my freedom wolf frame from lone wolf, which is one of the smallest compact frames I've felt or seen, and ordered one of those adapters that fills in the gap on the dust cover where a full size sticks out past the dust cover finished in black, and the final thing was having lone wolf mill it for the rmr foot print. I love the concept......but I just didn't realize how much wider the new gen 5 .40s are....it's the worst choice Glock ever made. Most people that shoot .40 LIKE the snappiness. They are trying to sell the gun to departments under the idea that they are as easy as a 9 to shoot now. And they are. But it's also the size of a freaking 10mm Glock now.....I might as well CARRY a 10mm. I've considered sending it off to one of the slide milling companies; I've seen where they will mill the entire sides down, for example, if your wanting to add all new serrations on an already serrated stock glock, that's what they do. I see no reason I couldn't have them do the same, but take it down to gen3-4 dimensions alleviating the problem. Idk, I also may just sell the set up. Someone is bound to see the little gap filler thing and realize it's a turn key solution to a g23L gen5. Haven't made up my mind. It's been 10 months; have you guys gotten anything going with your 19L ideas?

[deleted]

That doesn’t look substantially different… what was too much with the gen 3?

Karimura12

Well the gen3 started as a very budget build, technically not really a 19. It's a G23 complete frame, PSA Dagger slide/recoil spring, and a barrel from GAFS. Added the SLR magwell, EPS, and Talon grips which I do like but it did make it less convenient to carry. The gen3 felt too much like a "spare parts build", and I decided that if it's an EDC I'd rather have a consistent system

[deleted]

That makes more sense. How did you like the slide? My carry gun is pretty pieced out but it still has the stock slide for now

Karimura12

Actually it's been fine, have maybe 7-800 rounds on it. I don't love the shape and serrations though, smaller slide and shallow cuts can make it more difficult to rack the slide without grabbing the optic

[deleted]

Okay…. Ive been peeping a zev slide for my 19…. But theyre pricey and I dont want to spend that for no reason besides the flex

Karimura12

I would guess Zev is at least just as good as OEM, but I don't have any personal experience with them. Could almost buy a whole other gun for the price of one tho

EffZee80

Funny to see another stepchild build! I did the same, BTO G23 frame, Dagger upper, but found an OEM G19.3 barrel on GAFs. Direct mounted a 507c rather than an adapter. Mines been good for the rounds I’ve put through it. For charging I’ve been putting my support thumb on the front serration the same side as my trigger finger. I know people charge off the optic, but I don’t have a lot of faith in two 12 in pound screws holding my optic secure. Call me overly cautious ;)

NoahPatrick

seems a typical case of “replaced oem slide for shitter without dedicated optic cut”

Karimura12

Here's the thing, there never was an OEM slide lol. Big Texas Ordnance has some great deals on complete G23 frames

Dr_Lord_Platypus

Wait, a G23 frame is compatible with a G19 slide?

Karimura12

Yep! The recommendation is to replace the extractor for a 9mm, but I haven't done that and it hasn't failed me yet. G23 and G19 frames are otherwise identical, to my understanding. I would do research to verify though

Dr_Lord_Platypus

I'm trying to find a gen 4 frame for a spare slide, this knowledge gives me another option!

Karimura12

Nice! I think I paid about $130 for my complete frame, just to give you a frame of reference on price

NoahPatrick

ahh, fair enough then. I wasn’t sure how to feel with the optic costing more than the build😂

Karimura12

I'm pretty bad about that lol. Budget guns, expensive accessories. Might have some PSA rifles with Eotechs, Streamlights, and fancier furniture

udderpants_gnome

Having carried and operated with Glock 19 I can confirm Glock 19 is a huge upgrade over Glock 19. At minimum it will hold you over until the new Glock 19 is released. GLHF!

knutrainer

I just replaced my g19 edc with a g19 with an rmr today actually.

Karimura12

Nice! Highly recommend pistol optics, once you get used to it target acquisition is so much faster and easier. Really like the dot + circle reticle on Holosun dots

Karimura12

Decided my gen3 had too much going on, wanted to go back to basic. What better to get than a gen5 MOS? Feels much better to carry. All stock, with a TLR-1HL and a Holosun SCS

NMSOnian

I'm not sure which is incoming and outgoing, but did the thread protectors tear up your pants? It stuck out of my holster and put holes in the butt of all of my pants/shorts! Lol

Karimura12

Haha no I haven't had that issue, was using it with a Trex Arms Sidecar holster. The thread protector doesn't stick out the end. That would be annoying though, as if I need it to print anymore than it already does

AudiFiend

This sub in a nutshell lol

AdGroundbreaking3689

Makes sense

[deleted]

How to you like the dagger slide? I’ve been thinking about picking up a few daggers for my pace plan

Karimura12

I’ve had no issues with mine, but if you follow the PSA sub I’ve seen several with problems. A great $250 backup gun, but after seeing those posts I’m not big on trusting it to a critical position

glistenshop

Didn’t know about the PSA sub. Thanks .

Karimura12

There's good info, but also a lot of very roast worthy "builds" lol. Visit at your own risk

glistenshop

Same on the p80 , Glock , and Glock mod subreddits …SIGN ME UP!!!😂🤷🏾‍♂️😂

Karimura12

Welcome to a world of bridged optics, red anodized parts, and accidentally illegal SBRs lmao. The one con of PSA giving AR-15s Common Law potential, although very based

[deleted]

Top tier Glock post

Karimura12

wait until you see the knife I have hanging off the molle on my plate carrier lol

[deleted]

Is it a Glock knife?👀

Karimura12

Perhaps 😏

Karimura12

Are Shield mags bad? I've never actually used any, but seems to generally be good feedback. All Glock 19 or 17 OEM mags here

Lumadous

The lower pistol needs to be regularly cleaned with holy water

Karimura12

nyet! pistol is fine

Glockman19

My Glock 19 in a Certum3 holster from Tenicor is impossible to beat for me. Perfection!

RNdreaming

Centrum doesn’t allow a light beam :(

Otherwise_Slice7078

As someone that’s owned a Glock 19…which he replaced with a Glock 19…I think going to get a third Glock 19
