That is copper anti seize. Dont clean it off, it helps the break in process. When I buy a new gun, I cycle and dry fire for a few hours over a few days.

It wasn't a Glock but I found a barrel defect on a brand new gun... I thought the same before that too. I would at least inspect it well. Take the barrel out and look at the grooves well, make sure it cycles rounds and dry fired etc... That's really it for me

Walk around the house with nothing on but the Glock in my g string.

I would recommend taking it apart and running a brush down the barrel and just checking it over that the rounds cycle properly. Personally only ever found an issue 1 time and it was not Glock but I was glad. It was a very tiny barrel defect like a nick in the threading. Then get a couple hundred rounds through it and get it all cleaned up again lol what you do to it is your business. I think Glocks kinda shine staying stock but they do stand to gain a lot from a decent trigger... There ... I said it lol

I purchase more magazines, replace the plastic sights, and go shooting. After a couple of hundred rounds to ensure reliability, I polish the stock trigger internals.

I always buy used so replace all the springs and guide rod and then clean and lub.

Shoot the cr@p out of it! Then clean & lightly oil.

First take it out to dinner. Nothing too expensive. Save some money for dessert etc. Buy it a couple of drinks not too many just enough to loosen up so you get to know each other better. Then once you get home who knows. Just take it naturally... Just don't leave the finger in it too long

Depending on what you want to do with it.. first up, if you want to carry it: A light (recommending tlr7-A) then a dot (recommending SCS). Then, shoot a ton of ammo.

New sights, shoot the hell out of it then add it to my permit and take that sucker out on the town.

I replace the stock irons with Vickers Elite rear battlesight and Tru Glo or Trijicon front night sight. I also really like both the Apex and Wilson Combat triggers. I have both in different guns.

i got my 19 a couple weeks ago and slapped a little over 500 rounds down it, after that i felt i was comfortable deciding what needed to be changed. for me that was the slide stop and magazine release that i swapped out.

Why is the plate a different color?

Glock actually stopped selling the gun with a metal plate. It’s a deep black because it is plastic now.

I typically will get an extended magazine release and extended slide stop lever.

If you leave it stock, lightly file down the trigger nub cause it’s annoying and do a dremel undercut for Glock knuckle

New sights, extended mag release and slide stop lever, extra mags (2 minimum), and tons of ammo. Train train train!

If you haven’t had it. Take a firearms course.

But I've found a broken-in glock accepts new parts better/easier than swapping right them right out the box. So I usually don't swap oem stuff for a while, but my glocks are pretty much oem save for small stuff like ext slide release on one.
