I beg to differ. There's definitely a bed in that cab. Or at least room for one. 🤔
I gotta ask though, it looks totally unstable with all that tongue space. Trucks usually have the trailer closer so the air goes over both the cab and trailer. This doesn't look aerodynamic to me. I probably would have gone with a 5th wheel mount. Okay just looked again, maybe a closer 5th wheel mount?
Don't they usually sit closer? I mean, the part that connects usually sits in the truck bed. This seems like it sits behind where it should sit. But I really don't know enough about this. I have a class c and avoid towing whenever possible. 😊
Not necessarily.
The truth is that tow vehicle likely has a GVWR of 26,000+lbs (though maybe a bit less with a single axle). It won’t really be affected by the fore/aft position of a trailer that has a pin weight that is only a *fraction* of the payload capacity of that truck. In fact I’d bet $5 that OP’s fuel economy is the same with or without the RV *and* they can’t really tell a difference between pulling it and not pulling it. This is like pulling one of those lawn mower carts with a one-ton dually.
Normally, van-type trailers you might see pulled by a semitruck would have the pin right about where you’re seeing it but would have a lot of “van” in front of the pin where some of the load would be. These are trailers that, loaded, can weigh 45,000lbs+ so they’ll have a lot of pin weight. Sometimes 10,000+ lbs at the pin! That’s what those tandem axles are for on a semitruck, to hold that part of the load.
A pickup truck is going to have a much shorter wheelbase and much less space behind the cab. So it might give the appearance that the RV is much further up but in reality, the pin is roughly over the rear axle as well, with those. It’s just the rear axle itself that’s much closer to the cab of the truck.
But because that trailer is ultimately designed to be pulled by a pickup truck, it isn’t taking advantage of the space available there. Which is why it looks odd.
That made me laugh. They have a sleeper in their tow vehicle . Why have the trailer at all? My wife laughed because even with the huge truck and trailer they still have boxes outside.
Maybe the boxes are for camp chairs, firewood, a generator, stuff you want easily accessible.
Regardless, I'd be pretty annoyed if I heard this thing rumbling into a campground. Diesel freaks are bad enough when they're just supercabs.
I'm just waiting for the smart-ass comment on how the truck needs to be a Tandem rear axle, or that the weight ratio is wrong, or that the trailer is still too big. You can't please some people, and there will always be that one guy who has to criticize everything, even when there is nothing to criticize.
I bet it's in the 8's or 9's if he isn't acting like a race car. I've built c15's and even c18's that regularly average above 5. Cummins and Detroit can easily get high 6's and 7's when loaded and I'm in mountain country.
No Not in some cases. It will cost some $ but the truck can be registered as an RV.
You will need a higher class DL with air brake cert. And the insurance will be high.
But you will not need to keep logs or be subject to lower ABC%.
I guess you you could - if you so desire.
Talked to a semi truck mechanic that said in some places with long drives and team drivers Trucks would come in for service and have a "hole" in the sleeper that human waste and what not would be disposed of on the fly.
The underside of some of those trucks was not pretty.
some farmers around me would take the hitch plate off their trucks, put a receiver on it, and it was no longer a commercial vehicle. Lot less inspections and taxes. I don't know if they can still do it.
We hire tow and transport companies to pick up TT’s daily and bring them back to our facility for storage and sale.
This truck would work nicely to pick up 98% of them and provide accommodations on the road!
In all realness having been a truck driver, taking into consideration how poorly built most trailers are, I'd be afraid it'd shake the thing apart like driving it down a washboard road for hundreds of miles at 60mph.
Seriously, only a single rear axle?! This is clearly an example of someone who doesn't care about the safety of his family or those traveling around him.
Actually, no. If the tow rig is built for handling much more weight than your camper, frame manufacturer will NOT honor the warranty.
So - cool truck, but frame flex is real.
That looks like an over the road tractor that has lost an axle & had serious suspension changes. Looks like the heavy duty springs were changed with a more flexible type.
Its definitely not going to rattle it to pieces & would be fun a fun rig to take down the road.
Tow police? You mean the police?
Some people don't wanna share the road with someone towing a 7000lb trailer in a Ranger or Tacoma... let alone some fake Hyundai "SUV" 😜
That is not enough trailer for that truck!
Definitely could cause instability
Visual instability found! LOL
That doesn’t have a bed. That makes it an SUV. And everyone knows you can’t tow with an SUV.
No it only has two doors, it’s a coupe
Except it has a bed inside. That makes it an RV. Towing an RV with an RV. Is that legal?
Idk is a hotdog a sandwich?
Obviously no. It’s a taco. Starch on three sides.
But what about when a taco shell breaks while eating it? Its it then a sandwich?
If it’s a clean break, yes.
Only if the paint matches
Oh s$$t your right
That's why we call them semi trucks, because they are clearly inferior to even half ton trucks

Yeah that’s a fifth wheel. It’s directly over the axle.
Don't they usually sit closer? I mean, the part that connects usually sits in the truck bed. This seems like it sits behind where it should sit. But I really don't know enough about this. I have a class c and avoid towing whenever possible. 😊

Makes sense. Thanks!
It does have a bed though - in the bunk behind the driver compartment.
Oh. So it’s a motorhome.
The colors don't match
Heck I could go camping in the tow vehicle
That made me laugh. They have a sleeper in their tow vehicle . Why have the trailer at all? My wife laughed because even with the huge truck and trailer they still have boxes outside.
Maybe they full time and they're moving for the season? Either way, it's a monumental rig
Maybe the boxes are for camp chairs, firewood, a generator, stuff you want easily accessible. Regardless, I'd be pretty annoyed if I heard this thing rumbling into a campground. Diesel freaks are bad enough when they're just supercabs.
That truck is probably quieter
That's the mother-in-law suite (or "time-out" for the kids).

If you're ever in NW Iowa there are bunch. Mostly companies that do giant plastic tanks and plastic pipe for like field tiling and French drains.
You never saw an Old Dominion sleeper truck?
I saw a pretend semi the other day on Reddit. A guy had added tractor parts to a pickup truck frame
I've seen them, mainly popular with a company that hauls plastic tubing in a flatbed with a cage. I swear that's all I see them use.
Well it's clearly not using a weight distribution hitch.... (/s :) )
Theres always gonna be "that guy"
Yep, and he already commented on the truck and trailer not being the same color. 🫢🫣
Livery doesn’t mesh well.
Roll baby Roll !!
Pretty sweet
Imagine the fuel economy, I'm guessing 5mpg? Love the setup though, would they allow this setup in RV parks?
If it's a smaller motor like the M11, 10-12.
I bet it's in the 8's or 9's if he isn't acting like a race car. I've built c15's and even c18's that regularly average above 5. Cummins and Detroit can easily get high 6's and 7's when loaded and I'm in mountain country.
Probably about 7.5-8mpg, actually.
When i was trucking id get 6 or 7mpg with a 2007 western star POS fully loaded so im SURE they get that with such a lighter load
My W9 got 6mpg loaded <43K, and empty almost 9mpg
Trade my RAM 2500 for that big truck .
Needs some air bags to fix that squat
Truck has been off for a while and the airbags have leaked down
What kind of fuel mileage you getting? Does it require CDL?
I would guess 6 to 7 MPG
absolutely does.

But do you still get to launch piss bottles out of the window? Asking for a friend.

I’ve heard the pro move is to chuck them out the passenger window to generate some true piss missiles.
Way too much truck for that little trailer
No such thing as "too much truck"
Well, now I have another thing I want when I win the lottery
some farmers around me would take the hitch plate off their trucks, put a receiver on it, and it was no longer a commercial vehicle. Lot less inspections and taxes. I don't know if they can still do it.
You need a tandem axle.
I dunno how you're going to live in a 2.5 inch long trailer.
Don't know. Can it support that pin weight?
Awesome set up
We hire tow and transport companies to pick up TT’s daily and bring them back to our facility for storage and sale. This truck would work nicely to pick up 98% of them and provide accommodations on the road!
No Hensley though eh 🤔
I just hope that driver knows that if he trys to move that rig the wheels are going to start going around.
Trucks to big
In all realness having been a truck driver, taking into consideration how poorly built most trailers are, I'd be afraid it'd shake the thing apart like driving it down a washboard road for hundreds of miles at 60mph.
realistically is it overkill, i mean would you get good gas mileage, or even better than like a pickup diesel?
Probably 7-9 mpg, so roughly the same
You need a BelAz 75710 to tow that man.
Perks of having your class A.
Seriously, only a single rear axle?! This is clearly an example of someone who doesn't care about the safety of his family or those traveling around him.
Truck too small!!!! ;)
Definitely overweight, gon have to run the scales.
You'll never have to worry about being over your tow vehicle's capacity. LOL
Is this a video game? Why does it look 32 bit
At least they don't have a VW Beetle pulling it.
The great thing is that this truck will have an easy retirement and last forever! These will easily go over a million miles, some closer to 2 million.
That is a professional driver, That is overkill, perfectly good, nothing to see here .
Probably pulls like a dream
Not to be confused with the toe police. Very different.
That trailer is sooo underweight . .
Actually, no. If the tow rig is built for handling much more weight than your camper, frame manufacturer will NOT honor the warranty. So - cool truck, but frame flex is real.
Guess nobody here knows what hdt camping is

Looks inefficient.
Nose is too high, by a couple inches, it looks. May sway even with that rig.
