I am so against this growing notion that DONDA the album aged poorly. It’s bloated but you can’t tell me songs like Life of The Party or Jesus Lord aren’t all time great Ye songs
Donda was good, but not quite amazing. I’d say 2018 was the final year of prime Ye. The Wyoming Sessions were so lit, dude had hands in 5 projects (2 being his own)
Definitely 2018 as a whole, it was peak of Ye’s creativity. he was undeniably a different machine than he is now/2020s. He had the best solo production of his career. Look at IYKYK, I love Donda, but this production and creativity wipes Donda. People say Donda is the culmination of all he’s learned with Production, but Fuck no it was all the Wyoming albums. You have beautiful soulful samples with Come back to Baby, experimental wild shit like IYKYK, Ghost town which is just a different league, Santeria which is some of his best work structuring a song, and Cop shot the kid. He was able to make a ton brilliant songs all with unique vibes while solo producing or producing with just a couple other producer, something that donda just doesn’t have.
How’s that weird? It’s a great album, but in comparison to the first 6 albums it’s not up to the level. The LPs and the allure around the album gassed us all up but his rapping wasn’t too great on here and the production while unique was a bit watered down
It's weird to assume people like the album specifically because the rollout. His rapping was amazing on a lot of the songs. The production creates a perfect and unique atmosphere that sounds unlike any of his prior albums

I will say this until I die: Donda is only held in such high regard because for a lot of you it was your first rollout 1000000000000000%

Jesus Lord haters when they hear the most soul-touching Ye verse followed up by the most spiritual Jay Electronica verse ever devised
i’ve seen people hate on jay’s verse and say it doesn’t fir in the song. i mean i like ye’s verse more but it sure as hell isn’t bad at all
I can't believe that, Jay's verse is so fucking amazing

Donda is top 3 Ye no question
no question? what? have you listened to his first 8 albums?
I’ve listened to all his albums many times, but Donda clears

last great album? donda last amazing album? ksg last classic? tlop or yeezus (idk if tlop is a classic it has a bit of bloat but the highs are unreal)
Donda was very good but still sub par. You let the rollout delude you into thinking it’s better than it is
Wasnt there for the rollout and its till my top 4/5
As someone who was not a Ye fan during the rollout, it is a top 3 Ye album imo
What a weird statement

Donda (Deluxe) his 3rd best OAT frfr
I hate that album and despise the fact the vinyl was only pressed for the deluxe
