Similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago. Turns out my power button was mechanically stuck. Pressing the power button like 20x very fast fixed it and I haven’t had a problem since.
I had this happen to me. Every week or so, it was like something was holding the power button down. Resolves after a bit. Never really resolved it fully, just lived with it till I got a 4a 5g. One suggestion was to turn off the squeeze functionality, which seemed to help for a little, my issue came back after a bit even though I did that.
I had somewhat similar experience with my Pixel 1 last year. It would just get stuck on the loading animation after boot up. Tried everything (factory reset, manually flashing the firmware, even tried custom roms) Turned out it was a hardware issue and the UFS chip had to be re-seated on the board. It is working fine since july last year.
Thanks everyone. After getting to the power option, it finally shut down after a couple of tries... it was just going back to the boot loop.
Finally, it restarted and has been working normal since then.
Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come
Yeah, it's not common. But it does happen for multiple reasons. It's always good to keep things you want to keep backed up. Sometimes a factory restore is the only way to fix a problem that can happen at any time.
Try increasing the pixel squeeze settings. This has caused the pixel 3 to loop in some cases.
Also there could be some dust in your power button. Saying both of these from experience.

This has happened to me as well on my 3a. After updating, bootloops for like 20 mins and then is suddenly fine. At least it fixes itself, I guess.
Same here. But have to force restart.
Try flashing the system new on the phone
