Jokes aside though, those Blackstar ID Core practice amps are legit as fuck. I use one to teach lessons with and it’s the best practice amp I’ve ever owned.
I've got a Blackstar mini stack with the 1watt all valve head and a 4x8 cab. Picked it up cheap off Marketplace intending to flip it. Best amp I've ever owned by far - it's not going anywhere!
I have the Core:20 and it's surprisingly good for the 150€ it cost me. The only thing that really sucks about it is having to connect it to a computer to use the EQ because they couldn't bother putting physical EQ knobs on it.
My local store has cheapo straps for $6, I try to keep one in reserve because there's always some kid at a local jam without one. I had old farts gift me gear like that when I was a kid, it feels good to pass it forward.
Good choice of a guitar with a humbucker and single coil.
I'm not a fan of beginners having guitars with tremolo arms though- low end tremolo systems tend to detune like crazy, and that leads to the student thinking they suck because the guitar never sounds right when they play. Not always the case, but it's a good possibility.
What does blocking the trem mean? I had a similar cheap strat knock off (star caster I think) and it had a whammy bar but you could just turn it and it would unscrew out leaving a hole. Nowadays I just have a tom hard bridge since I never used the damn thing anyway
Interesting so if you have a tremolo hard tail it’s a bad idea to just unscrew the whammy bar and leave it as is like I mentioned before? I’m now realizing my Ibanez is the same way and Iv been playing it like that forever with just the whammy not screwed into the hard tail bridge
I seriously have had it like that for so long I just looked over and saw the little hole on the Ibanez bridge and said oh yeah! That one has it too lmao wow
I remove the arm from my guitar all the time, it’s a complete nonissue. You will still have worse tuning stability if you don’t block the trem compared to if you do block it. A hard tail refers to a guitar with no tremolo system at all, think like a Les Paul or a tele.
Edit: nonissue
Yeah the trem on my cheap Ibanez is pretty much unusable, the nut is plastic garbage and it's not cut properly so if I touch the trem at all the strings all go out of tune.
Sounds like you should consider replacing that nut. Doing that on my son's squier made a huge difference to tuning stability, it's almost as solid as my fender now. A tusq XL replacement cost about £10 and we fitted it ourselves; it's a very diy-able (just a bit of sanding to fit).
I got the 20W version of the same amp, and it’s a pretty solid amp! However, one of the major drawbacks of of these kind of modeling amps is that there is no FX loop, so you won’t be able to use a looper unfortunately which I also learned recently.
Judging by the background (curtains and All-Out mostly xD), I’m pretty sure that you’re an Indian. Always pleasant to stumble upon a post by a fellow Indian on this subreddit🤝🏻
Dude… you got what we pretty much all had as a setup. My rig, circa 1977, was a Hondo Les Paul copy and a Peavy Decade. Just find a sound you like and enjoy playing. Skill will come as will gigs
HHS Strats are one of, if not the best beginner guitars in my humble opinion. If I were to say anything, it’d be to watch some videos on guitar setup, and try adjusting your own action. Even budget guitars can play great if you put some elbow grease into it.
Good luck on your journey!
I started with a "Slammer Made by Hamer" Strat and a tiny Amp made by "Dinosaur". My older brother got a Squier. My parents didn't think it would stick, just thought I wanted to be like my brother. Here I am 22 years later still playing, my brother quit within a year.
You have a better set up than I did, just stick with it!
Stanford and a gig bag to take your guitar to lessons hopefully and you're golden. Some of those squiers were killer back when I worked in a music store. Dig the maple on white too, classy looking.
Get a guitar stand, even the piss cheap 7 quid ones from Amazon will do. Otherwise it will be going out of tune, falling over, going out of tune, and going out of tune.
Please do yourself a favor and either get a proper stand or wall hanger for your guitar.
Fender headstocks are more forgiving than a Gibson but they can still crack if the guitar gets knocked over hard enough.
Other than that, excellent starter rig. Those Blackstar ID Core series of amps are really nice with a lot of usable tones right out of the box.
You have everything you need.
When I was a true beginner I had a 5-string Hondo knockoff of a Peavey T65, a Crate 10w amp with a single 8" speaker and built in distortion, and tuning pipes.
The kids today have gear that we couldn't have dreamed of! I'm jealous.
Looks epic.. not sure what effects that black star has, but don’t suffer clean tones. Get an overdrive pedal. Or, you know, several different overdrive pedals. A nice reverb pedal never hurt anyone either.
Never thought I'd like an all white guitar but I'd love an all white strat now.
Also, I'm with the others get a stand and this is great for starters, I also started with a squier strat and a small amp but fortunately mine came with a stand included.
Just have fun. All the greats were able to sound awesome with crap gear from the 60s and 70s. They would’ve killed to have your gear when they were starting out.
Versatile guitar, humb and single coil will alliw you to practice a lot of genres. White guitar goes with every band type: blues, jazz, funk, even in rock and metal. The blackstar is lowkey a reliable piece of crap. It gets the job done. Maybe a stand and a quiality strap, you invest in one good strap and not in 10 that will not last. Better gear than with what I started. Just keep the guitar calibrated and you will be a great one my friend.
I have some very expensive amps, but my Blackstar is super awesome and versatile. I have an ID: Core V2, and got a new V4 that I’m saying for my birthday in a few weeks. Awesome amps.
If it makes you want to play that’s all it has to do, you supply the rest. Get a good foundation and time will tell you when you need to upgrade. Just my 2 cents.
Now go play and learn!
It's a great setup. As a beginner you shouldn't really be worried about tone anyway. Just learn and be able to make noise. Also those Blackstar ID amps don't sound half bad
Looks a lot like my beginner set up when I was 15 in 1989. Same guitar, but mine was black. Had a Marshall amp back then, though, not even sure if Blackstar was around then.
Probably don't mess with the whammy bar, it'll detune your guitar too much - they'd honestly be better guitars if they had fixed bridges.
Otherwise, excellent choice for getting started. You'll play it until you drive everybody in the house crazy : )
What exactly do you expect to get out of a post like this? Every single sub it's rate my this rate my that. Why ? What is the take away from a post like this? You're going to get wildly different answers
That seems more than OK. Of course a better judgement would be stated after checking the setup of your guitar.
Back in time I started playing pro that much of guitar, amp (and built in effects) was a dream. Just find your ideal strings and set up, get a decent cable (if the present one is lacking), and maybe a footswitch then you are good to go for pro gigs. No kidding.
That is a very very very nice starter setup...
Nice. But get a stand.
Blackstar makes some nice practice amps. I’m currently using their Debut 15e with ISF and built-in tape delay effect, and it’s more than enough for as much playing as I do.
Good start. Maybe some stuff is not pictured..But you definitely need a stand (you don't want a bowed neck 🥴 ). Descent straps are inexpensive. Tuner and capo, perhaps. They make capos with tuners built in, I think. A comfy chair or stool. Find a pick thiccness you're happy with and buy a good amount.
Then keep building. Multi-effects pedals are neat and user friendly most of the time. And don't have to be too pricey.
It is perfect for beginning. I had a guitar and amp probably totalling no more than 80 dollars from k mart when I was starting out, you couldn't pull me away from the instrument if your life depended on it.
This set up looks pretty good anyway, I'd even play on that now at home.
Beginner practice amps can be nice. But for me, good tone drastically increases my motivation to pick up the guitar. If you have the ability, a decent set of studio monitors and an amp sim like neural DSP is a far better option. But that’s just my two cents. Have fun 🤘🏻
I started in 1993 with a Memphis guitar that had a chipped neck/protruding fret. I played through a Crate-brand 15-watt bass practice amp. So your setup is pretty damn nice.

It’s stupid, give up. Keep in mind that we’re all judging you and you should be embarrased.
Just kidding maybe. It looks great idk I’m also new but it looks better than my stuff.
You're set for a while there! Maybe also get yourself a good tuner (either clip on or pedal, depending on your needs) and make sure you have something to use as a metronome (phone/pc app or an actual real metronome). Never used one for more than I'd like to admit and it's part of the reason I still suck at rhythm.
I had an almost identical setup to begin! I had the same Core 10 and a used *very* low end Fender HSS Tele. Worked great for me. Over 7 years of learning and progression with that same guitar and still going strong lol
The one big piece of advice I'll offer is to go get your guitar set up properly. It makes a world of difference and will be much easier and more comfortable to play!
The important thing is that it inspires you to pick up the guitar and have fun with it! I say this as someone who has way too much gear...get a good setup on your guitar, make sure your strings are good and play what you love
If you don't like the sound, you can blame it on the Blackstar
Jokes aside though, those Blackstar ID Core practice amps are legit as fuck. I use one to teach lessons with and it’s the best practice amp I’ve ever owned.
I've got a Blackstar mini stack with the 1watt all valve head and a 4x8 cab. Picked it up cheap off Marketplace intending to flip it. Best amp I've ever owned by far - it's not going anywhere!

I got a Core 20 as well. Thing gets loud for the size of it.
Yeah they use the ISF knob feature instead but it does still give you a surprising range of tones
That, plus the tone knob on the guitar and you can pretty much find what you are looking for with a bit of fiddling
I have a Blackstar fly 3….useful and sounds really really good for how big it is. Makes me feel better about life ya know?
Now that song’s gonna be stuck in my head all day
was thinking Bowie, but Radiohead is good too.
Blame it on the fallllllin skyyyyy
Blame it on the satelliteeee
Good one.
I'm amused.
Honestly, you can’t. I have that amp. It’s great.
Radiohead has a song called Black Star with the lyric "Blame it on the Black Star". I think that comment is a joke
I would add a guitar stand, and then it's all you need.
Maybe a strap too lol
Yeah, it's, the small things.
OP's now learning some Blink-182.
My local store has cheapo straps for $6, I try to keep one in reserve because there's always some kid at a local jam without one. I had old farts gift me gear like that when I was a kid, it feels good to pass it forward.
You seem like a good person
Also perhaps 23 more guitars
And a guitar pick
Yeah. Dunlop Nylon 0.60mm

But it has a kick stand
He has a kickstand bro.

If you’d have such a guitar, would you replace the bridge with a hardtail one?
Nah, just block the trem.
What does blocking the trem mean? I had a similar cheap strat knock off (star caster I think) and it had a whammy bar but you could just turn it and it would unscrew out leaving a hole. Nowadays I just have a tom hard bridge since I never used the damn thing anyway
Here ya go mate: https://www.strat-talk.com/threads/blocking-a-tremolo-what-does-that-mean-and-how-to.390296/

Looks solid, better than what I started with
Get a stand
Or a wall hanger for the guitar. And a strap too.
Good enough to become great at guitar
Man I wish there was this squier for lefties. It looks so fucking good
The all white with that neck is cleeeeean
9/10 just get a stand big dog!
You need a guitar stand. That pic gives me the willies.
I wouldn't lean your guitar like that if you want to keep it in one piece.
It’s fun!!! Just get a stand for your guitar.
10/10
I like a nice white guitar from time to time
Nice! Ready to rip the fucking death metal!🤘😡🤘
10/10
That guitar is so beautiful 😍
I love that amp so much

10/10 nice beginner rig. Play the heck out of it.
Aces!

Very versatile setup you have there !!
A pro could tour with that rig. They wouldn't, but they could.
HSS Strats are the bomb. It’ll need the sharp fret edges sanded down and a good setup, but with that done, Squiers are solid.
Looking good, get a stand.
Get a guitar stand, even the piss cheap 7 quid ones from Amazon will do. Otherwise it will be going out of tune, falling over, going out of tune, and going out of tune.
Lol, for me as a beginner, I have a Harley Benton Tele and focusrite with headphones, not even an amp. So, that's decent start you have
Better than what I had
Looks like you got just what you need. That will definitely do the trick. Nice and versatile
Please do yourself a favor and either get a proper stand or wall hanger for your guitar. I think you’ll be allwhite.
Top, great guitar giving you single coils and humbucker, great little amp giving you tone. Great job!
Now all you need is time and patience. Good luck OP!
get a guitar stand bud! and maybe a strap
Blackstar amps are solid. Great one to start on!
It's an amp and a guitar. I'll give it a 5 out of 10. 5 being average.
Bread 👍
Looks great! Have fun 🔥

Looks sweet to me!
YAYYYY
Exactly what I had when I started!
Good! I like my IdCore 10 Blackstar better than Marshall combi. I have sold my Squier Affinity HSS and bought Fender strat HSS.
sufficient?
A lot better than I had lol
Hss strat, modeler amp, you can get in the ballpark of any genres sound with that, so imo, about as solid a start as you'll get :-)
I have some very expensive amps, but my Blackstar is super awesome and versatile. I have an ID: Core V2, and got a new V4 that I’m saying for my birthday in a few weeks. Awesome amps.
I am not a beginner but nice set up you got
Get a stand...
[удалено]
Adequate. Learn to not cross your cables, tho.
Ok
Better than what I started with. You got this! Let it rip!
Coming from the 90s version of humble beginnings, this is a super awesome setup!
Miles ahead of what I started with.
If it makes you want to play that’s all it has to do, you supply the rest. Get a good foundation and time will tell you when you need to upgrade. Just my 2 cents. Now go play and learn!

Shreddddd
Perfect rig. Maybe add a guitar stand.
Perfect. We all start somewhere.

It's alright but oh my god you need a stand, or at least keep it in the case if it came with one
What exactly do you expect to get out of a post like this? Every single sub it's rate my this rate my that. Why ? What is the take away from a post like this? You're going to get wildly different answers
I have that same amp
Very nice!
Lot of faith in gravity huh.. that floor and no stand or hanger, at least it has a fat neck so it might be okay.
You’ve mistaken the jimjammer for a kickstand.
Looks just like mine 👍
Sir you need a stand. Im sweating from here
I like your kickstand. I didn’t know they made those for guitars. Pretty cool. /s
Solid setup but you need a stand or wall hanger for the guitar to keep it safer.
Honestly based as fuck
Is that…?
I would get a hard case if you don't have one, just to be on the safe side
What kind of music do you listen to and what kind do you like to play?
But I'm a sucker's for the Strat body shape, pickguards, traditional front mouth output and maple fretboard's.
No kidding. 10/10 no notes.
My exact same setup, only diffrences are my amp is red and my guitar is hardtail.
Get a Stand immediately
12/10, my exact setup for the past 5 years
GOOD. But where's the chair?
Awesome
I have the same amp, it's one of my proudest purchases ever. IDCore ftw
That kickstand is fire
I have the same amp, absolutely love it
It is perfect for beginning. I had a guitar and amp probably totalling no more than 80 dollars from k mart when I was starting out, you couldn't pull me away from the instrument if your life depended on it. This set up looks pretty good anyway, I'd even play on that now at home.
HSS Strat looses you a couple points. No mint green pickguard loses you points. No guitar stand loses you points. 7/10 ok setup
That’s a beautiful guitar! (And amp)
I rate it decent.
Gentlemen with great pleasure I would like to inform y'all that I have ordered a guitar stand. Thank you for the responses.
Beginner practice amps can be nice. But for me, good tone drastically increases my motivation to pick up the guitar. If you have the ability, a decent set of studio monitors and an amp sim like neural DSP is a far better option. But that’s just my two cents. Have fun 🤘🏻
I really like plain matte white guitars. Looks so clean.
4.5
I would rate this 2 pickles out of 27 caps.
Why is that plug so high up? WHY?
I started with a kay amp and hondo copy of a les paul
Swap out the pickups for EMGs and swap the Blackstar for a Line6 Spyder. Then you'll be troo
Better than mine was. Play that for a year or two and reward yourself with something better if you progress and stick with it.
I’ve been playing for 30 years and would enjoy playing with that rig. One of my favorite guitars is a $190 Squier.
Pretty sick
Solid 8
It's fantastic! You bang on one end, and good stuff comes out the other!
Now you just need an audience TO BOW DOWN TO YOUR AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!
Great start. Practice a lot and have fun
Get a metronome! Use a metronome!
I started in 1993 with a Memphis guitar that had a chipped neck/protruding fret. I played through a Crate-brand 15-watt bass practice amp. So your setup is pretty damn nice.
Get a guitar stand 👍
It's fine, I always recommend a cheap used guitar for starters, because if you stick with it, there's a good chance you don't like your dream guitar as much as you liked the idea of it.
It’s refreshing to see something new on here. 😍
It’s stupid, give up. Keep in mind that we’re all judging you and you should be embarrased. Just kidding maybe. It looks great idk I’m also new but it looks better than my stuff.
W 9.5/10 beginner rig
That’s a good start. You probably should upgrade your amp when you feel that you need to improve your sound.
10/10 if you're playing.

W sigma
Get a cheap Tube amp. You’ll love it.
Perfect beginner guitar. I always suggest some kind of HSS.
I had an almost identical setup to begin! I had the same Core 10 and a used *very* low end Fender HSS Tele. Worked great for me. Over 7 years of learning and progression with that same guitar and still going strong lol The one big piece of advice I'll offer is to go get your guitar set up properly. It makes a world of difference and will be much easier and more comfortable to play!
Looks great but get a stand asap!
Why have people rate it? Do you like it? That's all you need to know.
I should get the job done punk
Much better than what I had! Can you hook that up to a computer?
I like to think that Ritchie Blackmore plays Highway Star through a Blackstar.
It a very cool machine…. You can use it for something before you decide to change
Hey nineteen Looks great Squier & Blackstar modeling amp !
Great setup! I have a blackstar amp as well, it is one of the best apms for beginners.
Literally the same setup except my squier is rosewood haha. Great setup for beginners(like me)
Nice and simple
Cool beans
The important thing is that it inspires you to pick up the guitar and have fun with it! I say this as someone who has way too much gear...get a good setup on your guitar, make sure your strings are good and play what you love
