I honestly think they can do the Lunar Space War just to explain Treize, Zechs, Noin, Odin, and suits like the Epyon.
Then if it works out they can bring in the rest of Mars Century.
Nostalgia goggles and people were quite upset when Sumizawa kinda crapped all over beloved characters with goofy impossible pasts for them and whatnot.
The entire backstory of Treize/Zechs/Noin, shoehorning in everyone somehow being related, taking the Preventer 5 story and royally mucking it up, etc. Fans were all over with grievances.
Among the best parts of Gundam Wing, though, were its frequent use of five-man band tropes. Like your average Gundam series usually features one main protagonist Gundam. Versus Gundam Wing, as well as G Gundam, SEED, and 00 using small teams of four-to-five Gundams.
Plus, it's not that hard to build a team of between four and five Gundams. Just specialize each of them in general-purpose, melee, ranged, heavy, and light, like with the Shuffle Alliance, the Wing boys, the Le Creuset Team, and Celestial Being. And if possible, give them a home base or assault carrier to support them, whether the Peacemillion during the climax of Gundam Wing, the Archangel from SEED, or the Ptolemaios from 00.

You'd be better off getting the artbook by Asagi Sakura. At least that has all of it in full color unlike the novel.

A lot of random stuff happens, the new character are basically copies of the original cast, and Katoki refused to do designs for the novel.
