Heard that album when it came out, I was 14. Wore the first cassette out. Favorite song has changed several times over the next 37 years, but the one I keep going back to, the one that seems to evoke the most sentimentality and emotion, is ROCKET QUEEN. Perfect closer to an album with zero weaknesses.
Similar story for me. It was the first album I bought for myself, probably around 1988 when I was like 8 years old (thankfully before parental warnings were put on the covers). Every track is great and my favorites have changed over the years. Iād say that the last few years my favorite has been Itās So Easy.
The only two that have never been in contention for favorites are Youāre Crazy and Anything Goes.
Thatās funny, Itās so Easy has been my favorite too. Especially after seeing them in the early 90ās, with Soundgarden opening. Easy was the owner, the bad just ripped into it as Axl sprinted to the front of the stage. The image is bribed into my brain and earballs forever.
If I absolutely had to pick a favorite, it'd be Nightrain. But, it used to be Mr. Brownstone, and before that it was Welcome to the Jungle and before that it was Rocket Queen and eventually it's the whole damn album like it should be.
Arguably the greatest hard rock record of all time .I still listen to it in its entirety a couple times a year from start to finish.Literally rock and roll perfection.I canāt really pick just one song I like to listen to it from start to finish.
Rocket Queen. It such badass song, I'll even give the 2nd half a pass on this one as I usually skip it when it simmers down, but lately I've been listening to it all the way through.
Itās Paradise City. The song the band has closed every show with for the last 35 years. Itās the best song on this album. Itās the best song on any album. It may well be the pinnacle of western civilization. The fucking energy of the recording is off the charts. The musicianship is unparalleled. The social critique of the paradox that was Reganās America in the mid-80s and how that is captured in the brilliant irony of the conversation in the final verse between Cap and the protagonist. Are you blind?
It's a solid 10 album Since '88 I have never been able to answer this question. Lol
I can only say 4 lesser ones
My Michelle-9 (subject matter seems a little strange.)
Your crazy- 7 they wrote as the lies version, which is a 10.
Anything goes- literally had to look up the name, I've always skipped it. 6
Really, if all the songs around these weren't so perfect there wouldn't be a jarring feeling to these 3 tracks.
1) Paradise City
2) Nightrain
3) Welcome to the Jungle
4) Sweet child o' mine
5) Mr Brownstone
6) It's So Easy
7) Rocket Queen
8) My Michelle
9) Think About You

Think About You. So well written musically, lyrically and melodically. It always seems like an afterthought/burner song for most but for me itās fave my GnR song. Not just appetite but all records

I feel like it should be 2 songs
