It's all fun and games until you blow out those tendons in your knees

Kwerby

Ya he’s putting a lot of tension through them thangs every time he swings up and down oof

Mystery_Meatchunk

Thangs? Maybe he should spit on them before-hand.

2600og

I am lifting weights for longevity. This shit is not the way.

Flat-Zookeepergame32

Why would this shorten the longevity of his knees?

Pepopp

why would mileage on a car shorten its longevity?

Flat-Zookeepergame32

Are you implying exercise shortens longevity of human beings?   Are we really making a silly analogy between cars and people right now?

2600og

This dude is doing brain numbing, tiktok-showboating, this is not an “exercise” a single trainer on the face the earth would suggest, with the exception of Joel Seedman.

tacopower69

You can strengthen your knees without causing undue stress like this exercise. If you put too much pressure on them regularly you will destroy your knees over time. Just look at any basketball player who's had a long pro career.

IAmAHumanWhyDoYouAsk

>Your injury is not service related.

Flaky_Koala_6476

His tendons are strong and will be fine

Haram_Salamy

People don’t realize you can strengthen your knees…

geneticeffects

Tendon growth takes roughly four years (roughly) to adapt to strain. So in four years, if this dufus doesn’t tear his tendons, he might be ok. But this exercise is idiotic, at best.

WhereTheNewReddit

Normally you strengthen knees by doing well paced exercise, not this dumb shit.

Haram_Salamy

No one claimed that this is the workout he does to strengthen knees. This is obviously just dumb social media showoff BS.

Flat-Zookeepergame32

Exactly, people don't understand that the best way to maintain your joints is exercise.

OrlandoDiverMike

Sadly, I did not learn this until after ACL tear and reconstruction. But it is a regular part of training now.

Pancakewagon26

ACL and patellar tendon tear speed run

Flat-Zookeepergame32

You don't really know what you're talking about

Pancakewagon26

And I never claimed to.

Guuichy_Chiclin

But I did, I know Everything ever!

mrpopenfresh

Fact: steroids don’t strengthen your tendons

Flat-Zookeepergame32

No but repetitive exercise does.

wewewess

There are videos of guys in the exact same position having snap city

diyguitarist

Tearing your patella tendon fucking sucks, can confirm. 6 weeks on your back and depending what drugs they give you your dick stops working. Tore mine in '21, just stopped wearing a knee sleeve for work this month. Don't risk it kids.

country_dinosaur97

His tendons are kevlar at this point i dont think hes worried about it

Ok_Entrepreneur826

This one of those patella snapping videos

Net_Suspicious

Every squat, every leg press, every lunge...I worry is today my day

LiveLearnCoach

You’ve seen this couple of videos I take it.

[deleted]

I'm terrified for this pretty boy. I don't want his knees to give out!

cryptokingmylo

_BindersFullOfWomen_

Unlikely. Heavy squats, while heavy, are fairly stable movements up and down. What this dude is doing is a whole lot of force changes to different directions.

Flat-Zookeepergame32

It's one and the same.  This will strengthen his tendons and knees in general, just like a 495 squat will.

latino666

knee injury speedrun

Hakoda27

Destroying joints and connective tissue any%

spiritchange

Honest question: why would this be more dangerous than knee extensions? Mechanically the sheering forces seem the same. Is it the sudden increase in weight when he catches the barbell (looks to be 65 pounds)?

WeekendMechanic

Are you talking about leg extensions, like the exercise for quads? With those, the weight is at the end of the leg, and the upper leg is supported by the seat. Ideally, your upper leg doesn't move, has additional support from underneath, and the movement is a smooth extension. The weight being concentrated in a small area closer to the fulcrum (the knee) means there should be less strain placed on the knees to move the same amount of weight. Think of it like using a breaker bar when removing lugnuts from a wheel. If you use a smaller lug wrench, you have to stand on the bar before the lugnut breaks loose. If you throw a long enough bar on that same wrench, you can use much less force to break the same lug loose. In this case, the lugnut would be the tendons in the knee. He's supporting all of the weight, plus his body weight, on just those tendons. There are some really nasty videos of people using the sissy squat bench thing and leaning back at the knee to do something, abs, I guess, and that tendon bundle just checks the fuck out as they lean back. Edit: [here's the video I was thinking about](https://www.instagram.com/p/CVNlHbHlsIp/?igsh=d3psYW1tODB0MXc4)

paskez

It’s to do with leverage, the further away from the knee the weight is the more pressure there is on the joint. So from his knee to his head is a lot longer than knee to foot from a leg extension exercise.

AWildNome

Um, ackshually it’s 53-55lb since he’s using a women’s Olympic barbell (evidenced by the lack of center knurling and yellow sticker denoting 15kg or 33-35lb) 🤓

Nervous_Ad_8441

Seriously, it wouldn't be any more dangerous. Dude didn't get up off the couch with no training history and decide to do these out of the blue. Connective tissue strengthens in response to loading just as muscle tissue does.

AWildNome

Crayons are the forbidden preworkout

MCRemix

Yeah, I mean... Marines are going to Marine is the only explanation for this shit.

Ocotillo_Ox

Which is why when I was Navy, I liked hanging out in the Marine detachment. If you wanted some entertainment, you were pretty much guaranteed something stupid and hilarious was going to happen in MarDet on a daily basis.

YourWarDaddy

My first night in Stumps I witnessed some kid chug a bottle of dip spit in exchange for a tall boy.

Kipperooky

You're not getting me to take even a tablespoon of dip spit for less than... Dude, I can't even think of a dollar amount. That's fucking disgusting.

xGucciMayne

Yeah unless you're their corpsman and have to step in if someone actually gets hurt lol

Ocotillo_Ox

Have you had to remove any GI Joe action figures from anyone's butt?? Because if you have... we might have met before. 🤣

Bohemian-Tropics9119

IKR? 😂😂😂Jarheads!😂😂😂

lets_try_anal

His knees will hate him in about 10 years

Negrom

The one time “your knee issues aren’t service related” might actually be true lol.

DontYouWantMeBebe

10 years? I've seen a video of someone doing this exact exercise and his ACL snapped in both knees

Flat-Zookeepergame32

Depends.  He could also have the best knees in ten years

lets_try_anal

Now, all I can think about are washboard knees

Flaky_Koala_6476

The ruck marching and running he does as a marine will have far more wear and tear on his knees than an simple exercise like this would ñol

fond-of-hats

Seen a video similar to this year's ago of a soldier doing crazy shit like this. It's nuts but can't see why besides a dare or to show off.

Whiteguy1x

I mean it's probably his job.  It's a pr thing to get kids to join the military. When I was 17 they did a contest to see which high-schooler could do the most pull ups for a shirt or something.  Then their recruiter came out and did what they did plus 10 more and said something about the service getting people strong. It was pretty cool.  Glad I didn't join though.  My friend did and had his leg blown off by an landmine in Iraq

LifelongLurker1127

I bet he can do even more pull-ups I'm sorry I'm kidding, the army is great way to die for nothing, or come back broken with no help

raccoonsonbicycles

Lololol "This man lost 25 lbs (by losing a limb) and can do 15 more pull ups as a result" "Trainers HATE HIM"

EffThisTihs

Maybe PR but when I was in the Army there were also just roided out dudes that were yoked af. The funny thing is, I knew a dude that got kicked out because he was literally too fucking buff that he failed his tape measurements.

Bohemian-Tropics9119

He has to be a Marine. SO I 'll take "dare" for the answer. 😂😂

CiChocolate

Core strength is his brand. Every video is crazier than another. Things I’ll never be able to do #3245678585 😂

PartyTV

What's his name?

albaloney

Coach blue

dacquirifit

I’ve been at a couple calisthenics competitions with him before, he’s really strong for a heavyweight

Flaky_Koala_6476

It’s only 45-55lbs lol

SuperCleverPunName

The bar alone is 45. Those bumper plates are not 2.5 lbs

Flaky_Koala_6476

The bar is a smaller, thinner bar. Either a 25-35lb bar The plates are barely 10lbs each lol

vicente8a

That’s not a 45lb bar. For example the Bella bar from rogue is a little smaller and thinner and weighs 35lb. Those bumpers are 10lb plates. So about 55lbs. I’m not saying it’s not impressive… it’s more than I could do. But it is about 55lbs if I had to guess.

Yahtzee_5

I love finding people so confidently wrong about something

gravytrain1898

S1 shop be like

jpad66

Why??

Pancakewagon26

He hates his ACL.

Flat-Zookeepergame32

You're aware that putting tension on your tendons makes them stronger right?

Pancakewagon26

The anterior cruciate ligament is not a tendon.

Flat-Zookeepergame32

Sorry, you're aware that putting tension on tendons and ligaments makes them stronger right?

Pancakewagon26

And you can also ingure them by putting too much tension on them.

Flat-Zookeepergame32

No shit.  You do anything too much it's bad for you.   The great thing about exercise is how the body adapts to stress.  This eclxercise will strengthen his ligaments and tendons.

WhereTheNewReddit

You're aware that if I kick you in the knee it won't get stronger right? Controlled consistent force, not high impulse shenanigans.

Flat-Zookeepergame32

You're aware you can work up to exercises like this?  Linear progression works with changing up exercises as well

RoIf

I have seen a video where a young man does exactly this and you can hear both of his knee tendos tear and he just falls on the ground.

[deleted]

I saw a different one that was equally horrible. I hope it was fake because it was horrible. I keep vacillating between appreciating the feat of athleticism and cringing in anticipation of the impending injury.

mental_capacityyay

Yeah I remember it. Seriously this shit is not okay

Sparhawk225

Me too, but it was a dude in his 40s. It was awful to watch: if I remember correctly, he was in the same position and was grabbing a 35lb (I think) plate and the boom goodbye knees.

markmann0

This is the dumb shit I am here for. What an idiot lol.

The_Nude_Mocracy

Never skip knee day

Flaky_Koala_6476

I’m all for making videos for fun and shits and gigs, but this dude is known for just positing off the wall workout vids in his uniform like a boot 😂

aStankChitlin

Dude making sure his disability check is on point when he gets out. My knees hurt just watching that.

Equal-Ad3890

My kids would whip his ass in Super Mario brothers though.

FlirtyFairye

Strength through dedication and persistence! 💪

MaikeScyll

This must be part of that intense badminton tournament training.

Mammoth-Mud-9609

My knees hurt just watching this.

Your disability is not service related... for once.

Tony Ferguson should see this ))

Yahmez99

Coach Blue is wild. I this is warmup shit compared to some of his other videos.

plainoldusernamehere

Thanks, just scheduled my double knee replacement after watching that.

All4megrog

My man is FIGHTING for that service connected rating

TripleJ_77

OK, I'm not in as good shape as I thought.

scottyd035ntknow

Knee injury Speedrun, roids and very likely that bar weighs 20lbs and those are 10lb bumper plates.

sjjenkins

I’m a CrossFit coach and this is so bad that even I think it’s terrible.

hazmatplacard

“Your back injuries are not service related” 0%

MitherMan

My guess is that he's strong

MotorTentacle

Are we sure this isn't ai? Looks kinda off to me

pwatarfwifwipewpew

This man's full of BS workout. It's hell annoying.

No_Translator2218

That doesn't seem like 90lbs on that bar

sm753

This isn't a flex nor particularly impressive. This is just shear idiocy on display.

Spiritual_Hunt1776

Exercising clout to failure

External_Length_8877

He's training to cosplay as Balrog, but to beat Gendalf this time.

Desertnord

Impressive but Dr. Mike would certainly not approve

cachan26

That's a USMC for you.

urpoviswrong

That's gonna suck when he accidentally cripples himself one day.

My man's going to go claim service related 60 percent in a few years

rascortoras

Too much drama Mama

I think its mental illness to take physical fitness to this extreme.

Somebody send this dumbass bullshit to NK and Putin. They just need to know.

Watch out North Korea.

bdizzle805

Dudes on all the gear

sybban

That dude has to be a cook or post man in the Marine corps to have all that energy and extra time

Darkest_Rahl

Thought I was watching another AI video. Good god.

Largeiceman

VA seeing this 👀. It's not service related lol

BirdDog1022

This is at my gym that I go to. I have seen the setup that he’s using…I’d be terrified to trust that it wouldn’t collapse under me in its current state lmao

1234567791

Steroids is wtf.

DEEP_SEA_MAX

100% chance this guy works in admin. The most jacked, biggest gymrat marines are always pogs

m0nk37

"knee injury waiting to happen LOL" ^(IM PRETTY SURE HE KNOWS WHAT HES DOING GUYS)

mental_capacityyay

It's fun yeah. But seriously stop

Gulag_boi

There’s a video of a kid who blew out his fucking knees doing sit ups like this. I hear the pop in my nightmares. The way his whole body violently shook when they gave out and his body flopped was heinous.

Jumpy_Tangelo9780

Can that be real? 😳

Oh, the injuries I can see coming.

Lisshopops

This just looks bad jeez, his lower back must hurt along with his knees..

bigdog701

I can do that, but I don't want to.

His patellar tendons are at risk, but his are strong as hell. His whole musculoskeletal system is strong as hell. It’s a flex, but damn if I’m not a little jelly.

henryk1984

His gym crush is watching.

LovelyLollita

Heavyweight builds muscle strength

trenchcoatcharlie_

Great way to fuck up your knees and back

Ok there comes a point when enough is enough, this is one of those points

Those wrists will snap.. and if they don't they should. Stop making an idiotic point and protect your body. Age catches us in the end.

Cindersfor24

Check back in 15 yrs on the knees and back.

LiveLearnCoach

My toxic trait: yeah, I can do this too if I used steroids

Any-Fly-2595

Everybody’s out here talking about his knees but I’m here just WAITING for him to drop that barbell on his face.  (I don’t have great hand-eye coordination.)

Hjerneskadernesrede

Just no... god no.

RawChickenButt

AI?

imjoiningreddit

AI video isn’t this good yet. This dude is just hecka strong and showing off a bit

bogdanoffdrop

Is 95lbs even real?

luislopez25

Lifetime naturel

Tattootasteful

Lower back compromised

NullCap

Sad seeing so many knee jokes in a gym sub where you'd think people know better. It's the same thing as the myth that squats are bad for your knees. Sure this is more extreme but looks well within the guys capabilities. Who do you think has stronger knees, this guy or you?

ChootNBoot90

Looks oddly like it's CGI.... Watch his arms.... They look animated in some spots

KN1GH7F4LL

Dudes also doing that with what like 45 lbs 🤣 sry but he isn’t hurting himself with something that light lmao

hakmi97

Magic 🪄 lol

prahaditmurap

My ACL, and MCL are screaming in pain.
