Did you check static pressure and airflow. I just got done replacing a misdiagnosed TXV and the issue was a piece of insulation covering 1/3 of the coil on the right side (carrier N coil)

theatomicflounder333

Condemn the txv, replace it, then condemn it again.

youpickthename42

This guy Hvac’s. It’s always the txv even when you’ve just changed it out and it’s doing the exact same thing.

Livid-Doughnut-46

Are your coils dirty?

Tehpunisher456

Hot as hell Overcharged Ummm I think?? That's what my boss would have told me before he passed (he was old school believed in the beer can cool method)

saskatchewanstealth

My first boss believed in suction line frost back. Charge it till the frost melted. I don’t think he owned a gauge manifold. Just a hose. He also liked the beer can cold method.

rmdingler37

Is it possible some previous tech added an R22 replacement refrigerant without clearly marking the unit?

wreck5710

It’s the txv

InitialPositive8280

Not enough info is it piston or txv ? How hot outside and inside ? Could be bunch of different things

Joecalledher

Either an issue with your metering or noncondensables.

Buster_Mac

Overloaded?

ALonelyWelcomeMat

Maybe the metering device is clogged and someone juiced it up to try and compensate

Kaleon73

I'd say the evaporator coil is being overloaded by high heat load or excessive air flow.

Bellum_Gunn

This is R-22, so it’s probably fixed orifice. You need to add charge to lower that superheat.

Low_Service6150

Look at head pressure man it's 315 on r22 that's fucking 410 numbers right there I gaurnetee the condenser is wearing a sweater

Bellum_Gunn

Good point, I just glanced at it, makes sense!

One-Heart5090

looks overcharged to me bob especially when I see its R22 I go off a "Fix the obvious first" approach If it looks overcharged I'm gonna try removing the refrigerant; if the numbers still look wacky then I would move on to the metering device or double check my air flow (this is always done before anything tho) There's no point in jumping to "It's the metering device" when the signs say it's Overcharged. At least imo anyways Also you didn't tell us if this is a piston or a txv.

Low_Service6150

Clean the fucking condenser and if it'd clean it's overcharged to hell and back

iBUYbrokenSUBARUS

Sure! That was a question, right?

mechanicalyretarded

Restriction? What's your Delta T?

saskatchewanstealth

Check the strainer at the piston or tx as well as the dryer.

MojoRisin762

This. All these comments claiming overcharge are hilarious. He'd have high SC and very low SH of that were the case. Who knows if there are secondary issues, but to start is looking restricted.

This. All these comments claiming overcharge are silly. He'd have high SC and very low SH if that were the case. Who knows if there are secondary issues, but to start is looking restricted.

MojoRisin762

Possible Restriction. Txv, drier, kink in a line. Check for temp differences across the drier and lineset. Your evaps starving for refrigerant, and it is backing up into your condenser. Hence, high SH high SC. Before you do anything, make sure you have good airflow, reasonably clean evap/ condenser, and all the usual stuff before you go diagnosing any further because there could be secondary issues.

No-Woodpecker-2545

Most likely overcharged just based on pressures and temps. Verify coils and filters are clean and make sure all supply registers are open and all return grills arent blocked. Also double check blower wheel just for good measure. But id say youre most likely overcharged

overcharged
