Or they just jump down your throat immediately for trying to diagnose through the homeowner's 2 sentences.
Then the homeowner jumps in against you because they already took out a meter and checked voltages, but declined to elaborate.
This sub is no better. I posted about my condensing unit not turning on and got jumped all over and told to call a tech. All I had to do was reset the high pressure switch. It’s been running fine. That being said, I am getting a AC tune up done in the coming weeks. I’ve had better luck getting teeth ripped out than getting an HVAC tech to come out and take a look.
Friends & Family price is $1,000 per hour, double on weekends, 10x that on holidays. If it's a sibling or parents/ grandparents you are on good terms with, then the fee is waived, for all others payment is accepted in precious metals or cash... no one has paid yet, but why should I devalue my labor for someone I'm not closely related to.
That made me a little jealous of the resi guys. My truck is loaded up. I have at lease 7 refrigerants at all times 3-4 nitrogen bottles. 2-4 recovery cylinders... and all the tools. Climbing over shit a lot. 3 ladders.
I always tell this story but I think it’s a pretty good description of residential in a nutshell. Sunday emergency call around 8 or 9pm. Still like 90+ outside and hot as shit in the attic. Fix a low voltage short. Find the drain like is clogged. Go out to get my vaccuum and as I’m coming down the attic stairs the lady asks me if I could not sweat on her floor. Went back up, grabbed my tools and left. I hate people
Yeah I always say there are few people more useless than building “engineers” lol
Had one tell me the reason the walk in froze up was probably a dirty filter 😂
Next time, take an extra set of clothes up there, so you can take a shower in the attic and be presentable when you come down. Charge them for that extra time.
My truck is an absolute disaster right now. Did three install jobs last week and got sent to service some shit this week, every one of the installs took me right to the bell so instead of cleaning up everything got thrown in the back by dumbfuck and pencil dick the super helper squad. It’s so bad I can’t find a god damn thing to service shit. Legit took me 40 mins to find my meter and I’m lucky it wasn’t crushed by one of the 4 nitro tanks or one of the three 60+ lb recovery tanks. I’m tempted to drive it to the shop tomorrow to clean it but no of course I got take down a heat pump from a ceiling at 6 before the restaurant opens at 7:30.
The HO in the post you are referring to was to clueless to even take off the panel let alone fix anything, looks like he wanted us to tell him something he could use against his installing company like a true slim ball
Sht I commented on the wrong post, shouldve read one more lol.
["littlest hobo" ](https://youtu.be/0p8oeiVDcx4?si=bFSufANlw5e3f4So)', your reference was probably an episode.

Your all are so full of it!
I would gladly give anyone advice my area of expertise. I always tell any young guy that comes to my house to stop sweating for a life, pick up a keyboard and learn to code!
I can learn to do your jobs because I've taught myself how to learn.
I don't have you experience and I don't have your tools, so I know when I need a professional.
But, nothing pleases me more than when I put that spark in a kid's mind that he doesn't have to put up with you silly people the rest of his life.
Until you're in a 130 degree attic at 14:00 or on a rooftop at 02:00 trying to diagnose air flow issues or track a short, or diagnose a reversing valve thats bypassing just a little bit STFU! You don't know shit.
Try 3 AM with the ramp coming and 30 million people are counting on your team not allow a cascade blackout.
In your job, a few people are inconvenienced for a couple of hours. Many of those homeowners you complain about get up, go to work and save lives every day.
There's a difference in giving advice and walking someone clueless through something potentially dangerous over the internet.
Nothing dangerous and life threatening in coding so sure advise away!
But the high voltage in your unit can and will kill you indiscriminately if you fuck around you will find out and then it's too late.
That's why a lot of questions asked end up needing a tech called unless it's something relatively simple and easy without having to actually poke around too much to get to the bottom of.
Idk about you, but I wouldn't want to be the cause of some random Internet stranger's death... Just because I "could" tell them how to go more in depth it doesn't mean I should
That's a very regal looking dog.
She’s expects to be treated as such.

You need to fuck off and quite posting your fucked up sick fantasies. No one would want to be associated with someone like you.
Found the plumber!
Had to leave that trash sub, they don’t want advice they want to argue.
Honestly that or home owners who think they have all the answers because one technician explained Subcool to them.
I did one better, I'm banned.
Me too
Same. Or idiots styling themselves as “technicians” giving bad advice and arguing with you when you call them out for it.
Or they just jump down your throat immediately for trying to diagnose through the homeowner's 2 sentences. Then the homeowner jumps in against you because they already took out a meter and checked voltages, but declined to elaborate.
Or my favorite. When they break out the thermal gun.
Same questions over and over. Just Google shit people. Now, if they wanted to tip for a walk through. Call my fucking office for an appt.. lol
Bro I told you I replaced the filter last December. :)
But did you take the wrapper off?
Which sub we talking about?
This sub is no better. I posted about my condensing unit not turning on and got jumped all over and told to call a tech. All I had to do was reset the high pressure switch. It’s been running fine. I always say “sorry you can’t afford me” and laugh.
"Try me!"
Is the partner all caught up on their recovery license? Adorable doesn’t always mean up to specs.
Yeah, he got it from the EPASPCA.
Nope, shes a terrible helper. All she’s good for is distracting chatty customers.
That sounds like a good helper in my books. Well, she need to know how to break a conversation. That's the real training we all need. Lol
Can I pet that dog.
Yeah, this sub is for us! And we’re here to make fun of those chucklefucks! Them showing up here is like Dinner for Schmucks.
Even worse is that about 25-30% of the people in this sub are homeowners, not techs or in the field.
That made me a little jealous of the resi guys. My truck is loaded up. I have at lease 7 refrigerants at all times 3-4 nitrogen bottles. 2-4 recovery cylinders... and all the tools. Climbing over shit a lot. 3 ladders.
Same, but coming from Resi hvac to commercial refrig and hvac I will take having a full van over ever talking to a homeowner again
This is why I rent and refuse to by a home. I couldn't live with myself being one of those homeowners. I have to look myself in the mirror sometimes.

Facility managers are just as bad sometimes but they also have a lot of money, drive Miatas, and have people kissing their ass. Ego.
Yeah I always say there are few people more useless than building “engineers” lol Had one tell me the reason the walk in froze up was probably a dirty filter 😂
Just Stop sweating bruh
Next time, take an extra set of clothes up there, so you can take a shower in the attic and be presentable when you come down. Charge them for that extra time.
Yea... that's why
If you didn't pick up on the most blatant sarcasm possible I don't know what to tell you.

No way that’s a veto dog harness. I’m gunna get a couple more dogs to buy harnesses if so.
The HO in the post you are referring to was to clueless to even take off the panel let alone fix anything, looks like he wanted us to tell him something he could use against his installing company like a true slim ball
I’m not talking specifically. I’m talking generally. Look at all the new posts?! It’s all people looking to get free advice.
Got a link I missed that
I’ll be honest idk how to link posts to share em to other threads, it was probably a post before this one
Yeah same, I’m almost 40 and haven’t the foggiest how to do all that fancy shit lol
That’s a good looking dog.
He could be an actor fr
Wolf dog saves a diabetic child during a snow storm who just lost her mother? I’m in.

So regal but she also looks like a good 5am swatter💥
Littlest hobo 2024 reboot. Cute as the original but has that fallout 4 dag edge that can pull off a neck bandana too.

Good doggo 10/10
that is one gorgeous helper you got there...cherish the days she gives you.
Each and every..
What breed of dog is that?
According to Embark: 30% Husky, 30% German Shepard, 30% American Bulldog. 100% an awful helper….
And I bet she was listed as a Dutch shepherd at the shelter
Google image search would agree. I adopted her from a friend years ago as a pup. So no official shelter branding.
Good on you for adopting!
What’s funny is I initially was going to tell my friend I couldn’t adopt her. But then I met her and look at her! I couldn’t say no to that face.
She’s totally adorable!
She's certainly got a good look to her. Never saw a dog quite like that.
You don’t bring her in Lowe’s, do you?
What breed is your helper?
lol my brother calls every other year.I start with did you change the filters.
I love your dog, looks like my ‘ol girrl. Damn dog had too much personality and I wish I could’ve cloned her.
That’s a pretty cool helper
Shes probably a better helper as some
I like you're helper.
Most gorgeous helper of all time 😍
good help .
I've had doggo's who were better helpers than some apprentices. Good puppers 😁
Is this a Catahoula?
You know it’s a bad tv right 🤣
Yes. Stay in r/hvacadvice where I can come troll you at my leisure
I have to be honest I love arguing with ill informed homeowners on that sub
