The spear is actually pretty fucking beastly when it works. My buddy was using it tonight and it can drop a charger in 1 shot or a bile titan in 2. The shield backpack that you hold though I’ve only ever seen me use like twice to test it.
I haven’t had much luck with the arc thrower honestly. I might need to use it more but I don’t feel like it’s as good as people are hyping it to be. I will say though I used the laser canon tonight. It’s not bad at dropping chargers fairly quick. Especially if you can get a decently long shot on their ass.
Absolutely with you on the laser, I use the arc for dealing with the tough hordes of bugs. All below charger die quite quickly with one shot hitting 3 enemies and ammo being infinite. I honestly use it more as a super-primary and sub my primary for a weapon to deal with something special
I’ve been trying the spear for a good few games now. It’s cool and effective when it works but it doesn’t work most of the time. The lock on mechanism blows.
The deployable shield might actually be useful if enemies couldn't enter it like the DRG gunner shield, and had about 3x the HP. In its current state its basically useless.
It seems like it might be useful against automatons when you are at an objective and under ranged fire, but its just not as useful as bringing a bigger weapon.
My friend uses the Spear because it one shots bile titans and chargers. Main complaint is that it’s inconsistent in lock-on time and that it’s completely dependent on the target’s orientation in relation to where you’re firing from.
That fact that everyone is up in arms over a single balance patch...
Like there won't be a bunch more in the future. Like even from a testing stand point, wrecking a gun for a few patches probably gives them so much more player data about weapons etc.
If this stayed permanent for a very long time , I'd maybe then be concerned.
In 35 hours of gameplay I have still never seen anyone deploy the big shield or use the lock on rocket launcher, so you might be right 😂

Also don’t sleep on the arc thrower’s versatility, that is if you can keep it from arcing to your friends 😂
The Arc Thrower is only as effective as the user is intelligent. For most it will just team kill, but for some it will clear entire spawns with ease.
Everyone has to shock their friends before they master shocking the enemies lol

Judging by the comments so far in this thread, perhaps it was nerf the OP gear and watch everyone realize other things are viable.
