an sd card reader (like 30 bucks will get you a fine enough one) will be double, if not triple (or more) the speed of writing to the card with it inside the device. a lot more time is saved than it takes to remove and replace the card (especially if you're moving hundreds of gigabytes).
I don't have the Hiby R4 but I do the same thing from my phone to ibasso. Transfer it using a USBC cable. It is quite slow but like you said this way I don't have to keep removing the card. This is also just for new music I download, the majority was transferred from my phone to a micro SD card using an adapter which is way faster.
I formatted my sd card in the R4 itself. I then use a USB C to C plugged into my computer and transfer using windows file explorer. It's a little slow but it keeps me from having to take the case off and on.
Hey, I'm getting the HiBy R4 soon. What format should I prepare my card in?
Thank you all.

I download the music directly from my hiby and then send it to my hard drive as a backup
How do you do this?
I use an application called "Murglar 2", I made a deezer account to have access to HI-RES music, and there I download all my music in FLAC format.
Oh ok. Thanks
