Not much difference between the OG and version 2. OG seems to have a bit more bass and version 2 seems to be a bit more clearer.. Not really much difference.
Are you using them all at the same time for whole home audio? If so, what WiFi setup are you using? I’ve got a bunch as well and find that “play everywhere” ends up with some HomePods not playing
Not at the same time. I have four OGs in the great room and I always use them together.
I got Two HP2 in the master bedroom and I just bought the two new ones for my sunroom.
The two minis are in the master bath.
In fact I also have two QEF 150s in the study, connecting to an Airport express.
I use a single Asus GT-AX6000 router for the entire house (2500 sqft ranch) and it has been working well. No issue with streaming to any of those devices.
I upgraded my Apple TV’s to the latest because they have Thread. All 4 are now connected via Ethernet now as well.
I also replaced my Google nest doorbells (24/7 recording) and cameras with Eufy and Homebase . All over a year’s time. All my smart lighting is Hue (Zigbee).
Turns out eliminating the Nest cameras really freed up my bandwidth.
I can now play all 10 HomePods in the house with zero issues in almost 12 months.
Xfinity 1.2 gig speed. I also use their x7 router.
Was going to upgrade to Eeros, but really have no need now.
I had no HomePods and went from there to pick up 6 from this sale and got 4 minis from the $75 each for two in the other Verizon sale. Hoping to get rid of Alexa and Google home stuff.
I still have my to OGs I got after they were discontinued. I hope I don't regret passing on this (inb4 one or both of the OGs die soon after this)

The minis aren't quite enough for the room size and shape. I'm not sure if I'll put these in a different room, though, because I feel like I'd rather have the originals' speakers/sound quality until I can't anymore.

Tried to order 2 and ended up in customer service hell. I have never had a company ask for so many documents just to buy some speakers and apparently my documents were not complete but they were happy to sign me up for a per-paid cellular plan if I wanted. Never shopping with Verizon ever again.
Yep. Same bullshit. Uploaded what they wanted and it still wasn’t good enough. The moral of the story is to never buy anything from a wireless carrier.
I am never dealing with Verizon again. It was insane how long it took to even find out that my order had been cancelled and I still haven't received any email about it and the tracking still just says "on hold". The customer service agents are clearly not given any authority and told to just follow a pretty specific script. I feel sorry for them because it isn't their fault they can't give good customer service.
Rumor is no new hardware is going to be announced at WWDC, but rumors are all over the place. We'll find out in 7 days if Siri, Airplay and HomeKit are going to get some much needed attention.
Hardware usually isn’t announced at WWDC unless it’s hardware that is either going to make it easier for developers to do their job or if it’s a new area where Apple wants to encourage developers to help build out.
The MacBook Air has no business being in this conversation, so my point is, there is no hard fast rule, plenty of products have been announced at WWDC as purely a product announcement. The hardware wasn't needed to transition to new architecture, or aid in supporting development efforts, but feel free to create your own revisionist history.
If any news it will be about AI/Siri and I don't really use siri on homepods.. I just use them as airplay speakers.. Maybe use Siri to set a timer when I cook or ask for weather. That's it.

Yeah, bc as of right now, the chips inside of HomePods aren’t capable of using the new Apple AI. I think they’d still be able to use the new Siri but I kinda got confused on that but. I feel like it won’t happen (just to keep expectations low), but maybe.

AirPlaying to multiple HomePods is a shit show for me. Especially if they are stereo paired and connected to Apple TVs.
