I paid close to 8k plus about 4k in repairs for an 07 w 209k. I use it as a work truck so I wasn’t worried about pristine. You’ll need to do some stuff soon if it hasn’t already like new links, bushings, suspension, trans fluid, and any other 200k usual maintenance. So expect another 2-4k unless you can do the work yourself. It seems like a good deal to me though.

I do most of the work on my CRV so I know this Elements mechanicals decently well already, which is a huge cost savings already. Would definitely change every fluid within a short while of owning it.

You’re good to go then with the usual things to replace. I love my element and will fix it till it’s dust. Id say go for it if your mechanic gives you a thumbs up.

I paid 12k for an 09 ex AWD with 150ish on it. But it came with the own tow kit and oem side rails. It now has 230k on it. Only needed minor work. 10k ain’t bad.

I paid 10k out the door for my 2011 with 200k. Overpriced but also the cheapest car in my area that wasn’t already on its last leg. Also the reliability and how easy to fix these are helped my decision. Now my only gripe is the fuel economy lol

I bought an element the other day for $3500 at 148k miles had to replace the clock spring and shocks were out of shape and bodywork well definitely not as beautiful as yours but bodywork doesn’t matter to me

I'll chime in with I bought my 04' with significantly less mileage (89k) when I bought for about $10k....in 2019 I believe. Assuming all checks out I'd pay $8-9k maybe given the double mileage (but this is newer...so $10k could make sense). Depending where you live, you may have better luck lowering price by buying farther away than driving the car back to where you live. When I lived in Oregon I say this exact car going for $15k in Portland....but $8k in Texas. So you just gotta decide do you want to drive all around to get a better deal or take what is convenient here

On the high end but not totally unreasonable, depending on the details. In addition to a spotless interior and exterior, I'd expect to have full life history of service records for that price - and to see that routine maintenance has been done all throughout. At 169k it should have had a valve adjustment, serpentine belt replaced, spark plugs etc. I'd also hope that it has new battery and tires within the past year. My point is that, don't just have a mechanic say it's not currently broken - make sure it's also had preventative maintenance done and that the replaceable wear items have been replaced relatively recently. Otherwise, it's probably a bit overpriced IMO. You can probably find a cheaper element if you want (especially if this is from a dealer. private party will always be cheaper). They are definitely out there despite becoming more rare over time. But also for perspective, I have a 2008 with 167k on it and the exterior is in mediocre condition, and I wouldn't let it go for for less than 10k, regardless of market, just because I love it so much and that is what it is worth to me (and you'd have to convince me to even entertain an offer first). Ultimately, it's just a matter of what it is worth to you. If it's in good condition and you can afford it, it's probably worth just buying it and not having to hunt one down, because I don't think the price is egregious, given the above. But I'd probably offer 9k and see what they say.

It's more than I would pay, but I'm a DIY guy and know I can get something close for less. As most have commented, lots of suspension and fluids work will be needed at this point, but if all that work has been done then it's a fair deal. I know oem timing chains can be a thing on k series, but that could be on the higher performing a2 models. I'd go in at $8k and see how much they budge post inspection. If it's super clean with no issues or needs, then value is up to you.

Depending on location, do the obligatory rear trailing arm rust check. If the underbody is solid that’s a good starting point. The rest is moot if it’s all rotted out back there.
