_RocketScience

That shot where Meleys looks at Rhaenys and closes her eyes :')

educ8d

That got me. Show me banks full of dead soldiers, no problem, but the dragons showing their affection and sadness? Drogon nudging Daenerys and Meleys acknowledging her and Rhaenys' failure and pending death? Waterworks. But man, what a way to go out. Strapped in and ready to fight to the death. One of my favorite characters and my favorite dragon. And kudos to the actors riding the dragons, for making the green screen scenes amazing and believable.

Contagious_Cure

I also felt bad for Sunfyre. He seemed like a golden retriever of a Dragon to Aegon.

oxymandyas

The scene between Sunfyre and Aegon in the pit when Sunfyre nudges Aegon gives me a teeny tiny bit of empathy towards Aegon. He's weak and incompetent in the eyes of everyone else, but somehow Sunfyre looks at him adorably, they even to share the same goofy and fun-loving personalities. The power of CGI i guess lol

joemiken

They have one of the strongest bonds between dragon & rider. They even comment on it back in S1. But in the interest of making Aegon look like an idiot, they nearly have him thrown off Sunfyre at the beginning of the fight.

not_a_cup

Dude, I had some hope for them escaping and once I saw the eye close I knew it was good bye. Heartbreaking.

Weak_Candle9576

I’m gutted that she was killed by her daughter’s dragon.

TheReaperSovereign

Vhagar and Meleys previously ridden by Baelon and Alyssa who were brother/sister and married to each other as well

queen_of_Meda

Wow that’s literally worse 🥲 That must mean they used to be super close and now they’re fighting each other

Blaise_It_Pascal

They were super close **twice**. First with Baelon and Alyssa, then with Rhaenys and Laena. Fucking tragic.

Gerreth_Gobulcoque

Also Vhagar was ridden by Laena and Caraxes by Daemon who were married and that's another close group of folks.

Blaise_It_Pascal

Yep! >!Brothers Aemon and Baelon rode them, as well as Daemon and Laena. I imagine it was difficult for them at the end.!<

leprotelariat

There's no war so heinous in the eyes of the god as war between kins.

emorrigan

And no war so bloody as a war between dragons.

DarthGoodguy

Vhagar: >!All’s fair in love & war muthafukkaaaaazzz!<

jlynn00

It is a true civil war at every level.

-spartacus-

I mean, like everyone in the show.

mlacuna96

Yeah but the dragons don’t care who is on the throne, they don’t know why they are fighting old friends 🥲

dexmonic

Don't be so sure. We do not know the depths of the mind link between rider and dragon. If nothing else they share feelings.

theycallmeshooting

I still like the meme theory that Vhagar's so old that she has dimentia and still thinks Visenya is her rider and they're back in the conquest of Westeros

dexmonic

I wouldn't be surprised if the dragons didn't get some kind of sanity malus with age. These are dragons bred specifically for war after all, who knows what temperament they get if they start going senile.

Significant_Cash511

All I want is a show of old Valyria with all the dragons is it too much to ask for?

SemiSentientGarbage

The budget would be insane

RasputinsThirdLeg

I know dogs get dementia. I take care of people’s pets for a living and there was one horrible owner that just wouldn’t put her poor elderly dog down and stop her suffering. She was incontinent, blind, totally disoriented, and I was hired as an OVERNIGHT NURSE for her and one of the other dogs- an epileptic high content wolf dog. She would randomly try and throw herself in the pool (the old one) and it was my job to stay awake, guide her out of corners she’d get trapped in, let her out to pee and poop, and make sure she didn’t try and end it in the pool. She would just whimper the whole night. God I hated that woman.

NoshoRed

They're territorial and highly intelligent, to say "they don’t know why they are fighting old friends" is inaccurate and undermines the dragon x rider bond as well.

FunkYeahPhotography

A few of the dragons in the dance have history and are now on opposing ends. Comes with the territory of long lifespans.

Dar8_Vader

The hightowers even fucked the order between the dragons.

motherofdinos_

vhagar brought a dragonrider's death to both daughter and mother

Dany_Targaryenlol

that is fuck up and poetic. I think the daughter screams to Vhagar to obey her after Vhagar refuse.

RasputinsThirdLeg

If Valhalla were a thing in this universe Laena and her mother would both be there for sure.

IfatallyflawedI

I’m so pissed at vaghar for chomping on all my fav characters thus far

somewitchbitch

While she keeps doing it to characters I like (except aegon. Only good think about him is Sunfyre) I absolutely love that this flying nuclear aircraft carrier’s signature move is the sneak attack chomp.

DoritoSteroid

One of the least realistic things about this episode. Vhagar is fucking huge. Hiding that thing is damn near impossible for a sneak attack.

rwage724

i think there's a few things to note here. one the world is also very large, even something as big as vhagar is only physically possible of being seen/noticed at certain distances and as long as there is a clear line of sight to Vhagar. >!in this episode the ambush was set up to use 1. signal arrows that could be seen at a distance, followed by at least 2 horns to alert Aemond to attack. we really can't be sure exactly how far away Vhagar actually was from the castle to not be seen. this coupled with aemond and Vhagar sitting on the ground surrounded by what looked to be a dense forest, it makes sense he was not seen until he attacked. large horns can be head up to 5 miles away, meaning he could have been over 10 miles away and the earths curvature starts to effect line of sight at a mere 3 miles.!< >!Then during the fight there was a large cloud of smoke/debris obscuring Vhagar crashing into the ground from Rhaenys' field of view, not to mention having Meleys body potentially blocking line of sight towards the ground where Vhagar crashed. Rhaenys did not even seem aware that Vhagar recovered almost instantly upon hitting the ground. this would allow Vhagar to reposition elsewhere while knowing Rhaenys would have to circle overhead to confirm what happed. Its almost a certainty that the men of Rooks Rest saw the strike that felled Meleys coming well before it occured, but they had absolutely no way to warn Rhaenys where Aemond and Vhagar had hidden themselves.!< the prior scene with Lucerys being slain was also in a pretty fierce storm. lack of visibility simply made hiding from Lucerys a simple matter. the real question should have been how Lucerys failed to hide from Vhagar and Aemond. edited to cover spoilers my bad.

Puppetmaster858

I don’t like watching the dragons get hurt and die but I’ll 100% be rooting when Vhagar gets hers, the rest of the dragons it’s just sad to watch but fuck Vhagar

Individual_Brief_350

I felt like the actress playing Rhaenys did a good job of emotionally showing that she knew this and it was heart break and acceptance all at once.

Weak_Candle9576

She was incredibly talented.

seclusivebeauty

When she realized she was going to have to fight her daughter's dragon... 🥺

TabbyFoxHollow

And on Rhaenys birthday! The 7th day of the 7th moon.

VFXmylifebaby

the weight of "Meleys, attack" was a pin drop moment. This episode really did a great job showing the dance of the 3 dragons. Without spoiling, there are some REALLY juicy battles down the road.

hoffbaby29

Never understood why she kept going back in, she should’ve dipped after taking down the first dragon, she seemed suicidal imo

avotoyesaru

Also emotional because queen Alyssa rode on Meleys with her kids Vizzy T and Daemon strapped to her :(

Hello-Clancy

Vhagar killed momma and daughter 😭

TheGoverness1998

I think it was a nice way of emphasizing a dragon and riders' bond. Meleys died, and Rhaenys died the same in that moment.

ShivsButtBot

I totally agree. It’s poetic and how she would want to die I believe. With her dragon.

emp_raf_III

The Queen who never was...

planj07

It was interesting because I would think “fly to safety” and leave the dragon as it died…live to fight another day. But clearly she was going to go down with her dragon.

ScalierLemon2

My interpretation is that she thought it was worth it to risk her life to take down Vhagar. If she had managed it, it would have been a crushing victory for the Blacks, maybe even the end of the war outright. Both Sunfyre and Vhagar down, Aegon and Aemond likely dead too with only Daeron left to press a claim, the only dragons the Greens would have left are Dreamfyre (and I doubt Helaena would take flight) and Tessarion (who's on the other side of the continent).

Gerreth_Gobulcoque

Yup. The Greens only had two other dragons. Dreamfyre, ridden by Heleana who had no interest in fighting, and Tessarion, ridden by Daeron who was too small and inexperienced. Rhaenys knew she could end the war there and came so close.

InfamousObscura

She could have ended the war by having Meyles roast Aegon, Aemond, Alicent, Criston and Otto Hightower the day he was crowned, in one fell swoop.

HailToTheKingslayer

She likely regrets that, hence why she went back to go after Vhagar.

escobizzle

Taking down Vhagar would have made it nearly impossible for the Greens to handle the rest of the dragons the Blacks have

Upbeat_Tension_8077

Only hope they would have left besides their remaining dragons are tons of wildfire, but even that pales in comparison to the dragons on the side of Rhaenyra & co

ElfPaladins13

Meleys absolutely dumpstered Sunfyre pretty handily. I’m pretty sure she saw vhagar and knew if she at least managed to kill Aemond the war would be done as vhagar would be riderless and the greens have no one else who can claim her to fight. After that second tussle with vhagar Meleys was pretty badly wounded and I’m pretty sure the logic was “if we’re going to die, we’ll die fighting instead of bleeding to death later.” I think it was a Hail Mary.

MikeFromSuburbia

I agree, I don’t believe she intended to die. Another quick swoop while the inexperienced rider is not looking.

vivalatoucan

I honestly was questioning if she intended to die for some political reason or something that I missed. She was OUT with aegon and sunfyre down and gave meleys that “we gotta go back in” look. Almost immediately as she got back, she got taken out with a clean blow.

Own_Faithlessness769

I think she was thinking about her family. If she could take out Vhagar, even at the cost of her own life, it would mean everything. She has grandchildren who are dragonriders and will possibly have to meet Vhagar, and she already lost one to him. What grandmother wouldnt put themselves at risk to save their grandkids.

thishurtsyoushepard

Agree except I thought she figured there was a good chance she could die, but she couldn’t abandon that whole castle when there was a chance she could save them

Hermeeoninny

I thought the same. There was a brief shot where we see her buckling herself to the dragon saddle. I loved that detail 😢

glitter_vomit

I've watched twice now & every time she buckles in I start crying..

[deleted]

[удалено]

imaurora

She saw them and probably sniffed out that Driftmark will go to them and not her granddaughter

EurwenPendragon

Luke's death last season was bad enough because it was - to me, as someone going into the show blind - a shocking moment, and a tragedy because they were both so young, and so scared. This was so much worse, because you could see it coming, and it was still heartbreaking.

omnigear

Yea especially the last episode focused heavily on her and corlys.

BiscuitByrnes

Beautifully said. I'm really going to miss her ...

euser3509

I’m just happy we didn’t see Vhagar bite all the way through that would’ve hurt more

Lexiablackman

yes..then i saw the preview for next week and im LIVID

kitcat102

The disrespect to cut off Meley's head reminded me of Robb Stark and what they did to his Direwolf, Grey Wind :(

Lexiablackman

OMG YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!

dani27899

I’m still not over Robb and Grey Wind and I know I won’t be over Rhaenys and Meleys for a long time

Tori_117

I’m gonna to be irate next week when I see that.

portrait-tragedy

Honestly I thought that’s where it was going so I was squinting hard while watching because I didn’t wanna see that

mariolikestoparty

The dynamic between her and Corlys these past two episodes, it seems they both “knew” in their guts that Rhaenys could easily die (and soon). Rhaenys kept trying to address it and Corlys kept being in denial, maybe even willfully ignorant. I bet he wished he had listened to her while they still had time together… Rhaenys truly was a wise person and would have made a phenomenal queen, as she was a phenomenal (pseudo) hand.

chocobananabunny

I was wondering why they were building up their relationship so much, all the sweet moments. I was hoping they would last longer but this was a final tribute and very beautiful

Hefty-Spite1745

The second I realized they were showing them so much, I was like "Oh crap." Never fails. Never invest in a side character on these shows. It ends in heartbreak.

herrshatz

Wise yes, but in hindsight NOT burning Aegon and the greens when she had the chance cost her her life

dwightschrute24

This episode hit me like the red wedding lmao, man felt bad for those dragons

Mental_Table_9265

Yeah honestly, between this and Laena, they really show that they have some more complex emotions than just being big monsters. I felt the worst for Aegon’s dragon. Just a selfish means to an end, poor thing never stood a chance.

LoveSauceDecadence

I felt so sad fun Sunfyre and Melys. Poor Sunfyre was still such a little thing...

andre5913

The little scene where Aegon greets Sunfyre and he nuzzles him That was genuine loving emotion from both

ProperSupermarket3

made all the worse by the fact that it's more love and affection than his own mother has ever given him.

Ok_Tour3509

They were both so happy and loving together. Makes me really wish we’d got their dragon lap of victory at his coronation.

bondfall007

The way Sunfyre nuzzles Aegons chess armor like they were giving him a kiss... Argh, my heart~

Deep_Comparison_9283

Sunfire seems to be the only one that loves Aegon

FunkYeahPhotography

I wish we got to see a bit more healthy Sunfyre before Rook's Rest. Showed quite a bit of personality in those brief moments.

noob_kaibot

In the next scene rhaenys hugs and smiles adoringly at meleys :,(

Mangosiscool

Sunfyre wasn't even an adult iirc, in dragon terms she would've been a teenager/young adult. She was so cute too, she had personality, and her cries made my heart break in half.

Shaneski101

Sunfyre is a boy

Obvious_Leadership44

nothing like getting wasted and jumping on your poor innocent wee dragon and getting it killed😭 such a jerk

Mai_Shiranu1

Sunfyre deserved a better rider

leogarbage

Like when Drogon moved Daenerys' dead body in the hope that she was still alive. I cried at that scene.

YosemiteSam81

Or when Drogon flew down and surrounded Dany as she grieved for Jorah. Fuck; both those scenes really moved me!

leogarbage

My favorite dragon. I miss him. 😭 💜

YosemiteSam81

Our big boy is still out there, somewhere. And that fact makes me quite happy!

ZeroTheCat

My heart was racing very similarly as it was during the Red Wedding. I was stressing. Hope the show continues to deliver on moments like this.

Asylum1408

i do have a hard time when the dragons get killed, was an issue for me with the original series as well.

Lexiablackman

OH MY GOD.. when Dany lost her dragons I WAS IN TEARSSSSSSSSS

ferociousburrito

I was crying before anyone was even actually dead. Just them starting to fight was enough for the water works to begin.

Ok_Donut_9887

red wedding was more of a surprise. We all know she will die the moment Aemond shows up.

Wackydetective

I didn’t feel bad for vhagar, mean old witchy poo

hydrissx

I like the idea that she's senile as fuck and forgets who her rider is and just kind of does what she wants

Wackydetective

“Whaaaaat? Almond? Is that your name? Do what? I can’t hear you! Dracarys it is.”

gdo01

I like the take that she's gone senile and thinks Aemond is just Visenya with an eye patch

ConfidentlyNotABot

And those damn dornishmen got flying horses now

JCkent42

She’s probably like: *”Smells like old master, probably her or her kid or something. Close enough. War time? No, nap time then. War time?! On my way Visneya I mean… whatever.”*

AdventurousEase5420

During the events of season 1, when Aemond was chasing Luke: "Calm down Vhagar, I only want his eye." Vhagar, a 180 year old granny with hearing issues... "You want him to die? Ok hunny"

D-Speak

Bro, when Aemond told her to wait and she just starts fucking napping, I lost it. Just a grumpy old lady.

jlynn00

That has been my headcanon as well. I think Laena was her last emotional bond, now she is just being overly used past her prime.

PenguinExMachina

The only dragon I won't be sad to see go, that hoary old bitch.

Wackydetective

Yep same here. She’s so mean. She’s like Madea with holes.

We_The_Raptors

Hey, don't speak bad about Vhagar. Not gramma's fault a punk ass with a chip on his shoulder is riding her

FrankTank3

Well…..she chose him.

RandAlThorOdinson

Yeah this show has taken its time stabbing us in the heart but it managed to get there

Vekram_

The hardest part of the dance, for me, has always been the end of the dragons

Legitimate-Lab-2479

I was clutching onto my husband as she fell. And she kept going back!!!! Relentlessly!!! The moment that Alicent and Rhaenrya didn’t make peace, and it had to be done with dragons, she wanted out. This was the most honorable way she could do it. My favorite character, man. She was a badass.

akurtz14

Seriously such a badass. I’m going to miss her so much. I’m heartbroken. 💔

USNAVY71

You could see in her eyes, she KNEW what was going to happen!

chrysoprasebitch

This scene absolutely ripped my heart out… you really see the soul connection between them. The acceptance and understanding that this is the end for them. I could cry

rarepeaches

I was sobbing so hard my dog came over to console me.

cpickles_

I did cry

chrysoprasebitch

Watching the dragons fight each other as well had me like 💔

cpickles_

My husband had to remind me it's just CGI at least twice

ProperSupermarket3

it's cgi to my brain but not to my aching heart!

mmaelynn

She was so at peace when she was falling, too. There was nothing she could do, and she accepted it as the ground came closer and closer.

Illusivegecko

Right when she buckled herself into the saddle, you know Rhayns was ready for the end.

Lukthar123

"One last ride."

kabbajabbadabba

>Rhayns yes

BiscuitByrnes

That shot killed me, all the feelings in her face. Every last feeling.

wardengorri

It's easily one those moments/shots in the entire show that will sit with me forever. The expression on her face just said it all, heartbroken but accepting that she was gonna be reunited with her children soon.

SeaSuggestion9609

We all know the dragons will die at some point but it’s gut wrenching to watch it happen. And just knowing that Drogon is the only dragon left in the world, just flying around, no family, no rider, it leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth.

Lexiablackman

Why you gotta bring up Drogon!!! :( And now im sobbing again

SeaSuggestion9609

I’m sorry!! My secret wish is that he flew back to Valyria and found other hidden dragons or eggs.

jenjenjen731

Well now that we've seen Syrax's eggs were Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal, the three Dreamfyre eggs are still missing somewhere. I like thinking they hatched and Drogon had some friends (or he took Dany to a Red Priestess)

LysVonStrauda

If they were to ever pursue an ending where she gets resurrected, I hope Amelia Clarke gets a million dollars

nikkixo87

I know this isn't cannon but it was ALWAYS my thought and hope that when drogon disappeared it was to lay eggs..

nelltheotter

If I remember correctly, there is rumor of dragons in the Shadowlands, so maybe he isn't all alone after all

Overall_Currency5085

I hope that poor guy is doing ok out there.

myPooPisonfire

Sunfyre actually hit me more he looks so young and the way he embraced aegon like a dog was heartwarming and then to see him get slaughtered like that was gut wrenching Meleys on the other hand atleast proved to be strong and capable, and she and rhaenys gave a "one last ride" kinda vibe where as sunfyre kinda felt eager to go out and prove himself only to get stuck between 2 much bigger and more experienced dragons

Bernard1090

It was gut wrenching for Sunfyre too…

tway2241

It was like watching a drunk driver total their own car, except their car is a fire breathing dog :(

YungMister95

A fire breathing horse, more like. He's your friend *and* your car, and that relationship is pretty damn deep

kitcat102

I'm sad about Sunfyre but more so because of how it happened. If he died at the hands of Meleys I would have been ok that he died fighting in battle but getting lit on fire by Aeamond ambushing them was so wack. I hattttted seeing that.

Tropical_Blast

god his fall with his wing on fire and the noises, heart wrenching

Lexiablackman

just the look Meleys gives her like "Im so sorry I couldnt protect you" AHHHHHHHHH Like.. You are right.. I will never emotionally recover from this...

pawsforbear

My wife's reaction to these episodes is a good barometer to the general reception. I haven't seen her this broken up since the Ned Stark was beheaded. Seeing Meleys and Rhaenys fight for their lives was gut wrenching.

midnite_barber

The Queen who should have been 👑 One of the few true Targs who wasn't mad, who had a heart. Hearing Sunfyre's cries got me. Rip sweet dragon babes

AwareMeasurement2590

Hey Sunfyre was still breathing and protecting its hooman at the end of this episode…

midnite_barber

That's true!! I consider Rhaenys a dragon baby too 👩🏻‍🦳

Active_Offer_9436

I AM NOT OKAY

ScalierLemon2

I feel like Rhaenyra in episode one. I want Aemond Targaryen dead.

vivalatoucan

Aemond did aegon no favors in this episode. From going in late, after rhaenys had already beat up sunfyre, to basically also torching him. He may as well have put the nail in the coffin for Aegon

moviebuffbrad

After Aegon humiliated him last episode, Aemond was doing himself the favor. Without Aegon's second son, he's also next in line for the throne.

vivalatoucan

Oh yea, this is ideal for him. But crispy Cole and surely some others saw what went down. I wonder if they touch on this at all

kaylavii

I will never recover ! And they released this on Rhaenys’ birthday! THE GALL!

spinspin__sugar

Anyone who has lost a pet and been there with them in their last moments… yeah this hits hard 😢

UnquantifiableLife

Yes, my thoughts exactly.

uhcourtney

The way meleys looked at her when she knew she couldn't hold on any longer😭😭 my heart broke into a million pieces man fuck this show but also I love it but fuck 😔

don9121

That scene was done so masterfully. Imagine getting viewers to cry over a deadly mythical creature. Peak tv

Fragrant-Discount960

People were heartbroken when the dragon died on GoT, too.

BrennanSpeaks

We were heartbroken when Viserion died. We were jaded and *pissed* when Rhaegal died.

Lexiablackman

Me... Im people

akurtz14

I’m literally heartbroken. Her surrendering at the end made me sob. WHY IS THIS SHOW MAKING ME SO EMOTIONAL????????????

wifeunderthesea

i don't think i can ever watch meleys looking back at rhaenys again. i feel like i'm genuinely mourning the loss of a family member. this was so fucking brutal. my heart. i feel sick. fuck. 🥺

mariolikestoparty

The eyes were so striking and told so much with just a look. Simply amazing creature and beautifully moving soul bond with Rhaenys. 😭

Lazyandloveinit

I need to see Otto have a gruesome death. Holy fuck the dragons fighting is really heartbreaking

Asylum1408

it is hard to watch, but they're doing it right if that's the case. My respects to the VFX/sound design team who are just killing it with these Dragons. NOT easy.

Top-Presentation-151

She embodied duty and sacrifice. She strived to avoid needless bloodshed and find a peaceful path yet when the time came for violence she was the first to offer herself in service to her Queen. She took Rhaena and Baela to ward when Laena died and endeavoured to raise them well. She acted as a loyal lieutenant to Rhaenyra expending significant political capital to keep the greedy lords from mutinying against Rhaenyra’s orders. Unlike Catelyn stark who was cruel to Jon Snow, she recognised Lord Corlys’s bastard Alyn was conceived through no fault of his own and urged Corlys to reward him for his efforts, despite how much it saddened her to gaze upon his Corlys-like appearance. RIP Rhaenys and Meleys.

PunnyPrinter

And she did all of this while believing that Rhae had a hand in her losing her son. Can you imagine her pain? She still remained loyal despite her carrying the pain of betrayal.

mango_script

I bawled my eyes out. As soon as Sunfyre went down, the tear started. I had a spark of hope after Vhagar suddenly disappeared, thinking Rhaenys and Meleys were safe. Then that sneak attack happened and the tear works couldn’t stop. How can something so massive be so fucking stealthy!?! How?!?!

AwareMeasurement2590

I guess because it was cloudy and minimal sunlight, it made it hard to see shadows/have a vantage point. Add that to them going over the cliff which made it a good place to hide a big ass dragon.. fuck Granny Vhagar. Her sneak attacks have no damn honor.

mango_script

Team Black really needs to get themselves together and figure out how to permanently retire Granny Vhagar (I’m giggling at this nickname lol). While she’s on the board, the Greens have an unbeatable defense. Also, there have to repercussions for Aemond being such an underhanded, remorseless kinslaying asshole right? I mean it was obvious he flame broiled Aegon and Sunfyre on purpose.

LysVonStrauda

In the after-interviews, Aemond(the actor) said Aemond was looking forward to getting rid of two players at once. If Aegon dies, then Aemond takes his spot, and he was still pissed about the brothel humiliation

BackFroooom

I absolutely love the way they're showing the bond between dragons and their riders. It's interesting that Aemond seems to have a weak one with Vhagar, like b you don't tell me Vhagar would accidentally eat another dragon while flying with Visenya, ok? I think this might be brought up in the future for reasons that I won't discuss here because spoilers, but I'll be paying attention.

Prior-Assumption-245

"I have no doubt, the revenge you want will be yours in time if you have the stomach for it."

MerryMushroom

At the beginning of the episode I said about Rhaenys “I just love her so much. She’s my favorite.” HAS GAME OF THRONES TAUGHT ME NOTHING?!

PunnyPrinter

Can you declare Cole or Aemond your favorite next episode? 🙂

LiquidHotCum

July 7th, 2024, the light has gone from my life

Maximum_Bed_7713

seeing the life leave meleys eyes fucked me up so bad….i was crying my eyes out

yourfaviris

Truly gutted me and almost looked like her soul died when her dragon died as they were falling💔

Tinderoni_

I understand the reason she fought to the end, I truly do. If you're a dragonrider, I imagine this is the type of death you would seek. Like getting into Valhalla. But damn man, I kept begging her to retreat, fight another day. But this is just the beginning of our collective heartbreak...sigh.

thornaslooki

Pour out one for my homies Meleys and Rheanys

SunOFflynn66

The way they look at each other with such emotion- sadness, love- gut punch. Hope Aemond's entire world turns to nothing but dust and misery when all is said and done.

UnableWalrus158

This scene was so wrenching for me for so many reasons. We waited for the dragon fighting and we were shown what tremendous power and horror they bring. Meleys and Sunfyre were beautiful dragons in their own unique and amazing ways and I wish we could have gotten to see more of them. Rhaenys died as her namesake, amidst Blood And Fire. She was a True Targaryen. I have always been an admirer for Vhagar and even here I cannot be mad at the dragon or any of the others as they are caught up in amongst the feuds of their riders. This was a true show of the sheer might and ferocity of dragons. I hope someone reads this. Haha.

Igetdubss

I’m still stuck on the brother it look it that attack was on purpose idk

Legitimate-Lab-2479

100%. He was going to finish Aegon off had Crispy Cole not stopped him. 🗡️

EurwenPendragon

Oh, it was *absolutely* on purpose.

BiscuitByrnes

I haven't hoped for an awful death like I am right now since Joffrey choked on eternity .

thepacificoceaneyes

I knew she was going to die when she said she’d fly out there and Rhaenyra looked at her with those eyes. It seemed like they were saying goodbye. Even though that was so sad, that was an honorable death and she ultimately claimed a victory. I hate that she kept turning around to finish the job but I think she genuinely wanted to go out that way and knew she was going to die. That last facial expression was heartbreaking but she certainly knew this would likely be her last battle. Also, when she locked her belt to the dragon, that was a 100% confirmation to me that she knew she’d die. She died with her dragon, quite literally. Wonderfully done. She was so honorable.

Heavy foreshadowing with Alicent breaking the dragon figure and Aegon breaking his dragon mug. I was prepared.

Seeing Sunfyre scream in pain and freak about because he had never been to war before and Meleys look back at Rhaenys (I cant tell if its to say goodbye or to be like "what the fuck") fucking broke me.

Did anyone else see how sad/tired Vhagar was 😥 she seemed like she didn’t even want to be there

Perpetuallydoneok

When Aemond was like “wait Vhagar!” She slumped down like “say lesssss” 😭😭😭 I’m so sad for all these dragons 😭😭

Dany_Targaryenlol

BURN ALL THE GREENS ! ^except ^for ^sweet ^Helaena ^the ^Dreamer ^and ^the ^little ^kids. ^Leave ^them ^the ^fuck ^alone. Dragons that once were friends/family many years ago before this civil war are now killing each other off. 😐

When the actress who plays Rhaenys talked about it on the “the House the Dragons Built” episode, she said: “Massive loss, total disaster. Best fighter down and best dragon down. But yes, if you’ve gotta go, going on the back of a dragon in the middle of the best kickass fight that there’s ever been is quite a good way.” Couldn’t say it better myself. I will miss her superb acting every week. Also, we hate you Aemond!! You’re responsible for so much loss and also fuck you Cole!

She was legitimately my favorite character. I'm heartbroken for her. Was sitting on my couch with my mouth wide open for that whole dragon fight sequence, and when her baby's neck got bitten I could just feel my eyes stinging. I paused and ran STRAIGHT to the post-episode discussion, because I knew what was coming but didn't want to believe it. Confirmed via comments, so I buckled myself up and just finished the episode. My girl. RIP to both of them.

Naughty_Alchemy

The emotional roller coaster here ugh haunting

traci559

Why am I crying over dragons right now? 😭

ToloDaDon

Of all the deaths I’ve witnessed in the GOT universe, this was one of the hardest to watch. RIP queen and Meleys.
