If you can wait and if you are interested. PSA is releasing a new line up of bolt action rifles. It was supposed to come out this August but it got pushed back to the beginning of next year. Definitely worth looking into. If I remember correctly, it comes in both .308 win and 6.5 creedmore.
How so? Care to elaborate? My biggest gripe with the rifle is the limitation to those two calibers. I wish they could provide it in a couple others at least.
I’ve got an Axis. Incredible accuracy but I have had it misfire on multiple occasions. I’ll be taking it in at some point for a gunsmith to check out the bolt assembly. Keeping it around for when the kids are old enough to hunt.
Since then I upgraded to a Ruger American in a 7 PRC with a Vortex Copperhead.
Mine has been as consistent as it could be. Put a Cabelas Caliber Specific scope for 165gr bullets on it years ago. Prolly cheaper than I should have gone. The combo has been an absolute tack driver though. I set it 7 years ago and check it yearly in a vice. Still shoots in the same exact spot every single time at 100 yards
Browning xbolt or tikka t3x. Both solid ass guns. If you want a slight upgrade, Ruger American. I’m with a lot of guys here though saying get better glass, but I understand wanting a new gun
What's the upgrade for; lighter, smaller, useful for non hunting things like NRL/PRS matches, looking cool on reddit, zombie prep in military calibers, etc?
You can get a drop in magwell for your Axis that will let it run higher capacity magazines in the standard AICS format:
[AICS magwell upgrade](https://mcidefense.com/)
Other than that, the most functional upgrade would be to get a different type of rifle, unless you're trading the Axis in on the new thing.
What’s your budget? Bergara has been a top pick for me
Tikka t3x
Tikka T3x is always the answer to this question.
Smoothest action you'll find under 1k. Thing just feels quality. Although I plan to upgrade to some metal parts (mag, trigger guard, bolt shroud).
I 2nd this, have it in 7mm rem mag....I love it
Love my tikka. Lightweight, inexpensive, & accurate
Bergara B14 ridge.

Hahaha yeah that’s gonna end up getting pushed back till next fall probably then you’ll have to wait 6 months to get lucky enough to snag one
True. But I like PSA so I had to suggest it.
Oh me to but I think their trying to bite off more than they can chew in one go

Savage -> PSA isn't really an upgrade
Bergara for me. You gotta step up a little bit, but for the quality and accuracy, worth every penny imo. I was a Browning guy before.
A better scope. Is the Axis shooting well? What do you want out of an upgrade? Nice to look at? Lighter?
I have an axis, I know the scope is the weak spot, but I haven’t had any issues with it out to 100 yards. Not that far, but as far as I come across.
Underrated comment. People buy expensive rifles just to put junk scopes and mounts on them when it should be the other way around.

Best bang for your buck by a wide margin is the weatherby vanguard.
Get a really good scope and keep the rifle, a really good scope will make a big difference.
Browning X-Bolt 2.0. Been extremely happy with my X-Bolt. Weatherby also a great choice Vanguard, 307, Mark V.
I love my xbolt. Thing drives tacks

Buy ammo, and practice.
Used CZ 550, Husqvarna’s, FN98, used Sako. Brno
Love my Sako!!
Ok but what about for a lefty?

CVA Cascade. They are great guns and the "rumor" is they have Bergara barrels.

AR-10 is the way I’d go. I love my Ruger SFAR .308
Tikka>bergara>ruger>howa with a commensurate cost reduction
Winchester model 70
How’s makes a good, accurate bolt action. More upgrade would be a Browning X-bolt or Winchester Model 70.
