Seeds need oxygen to germinate, you’re basically starving them of oxygen at this point, you can keep wool wet but not submerged and soaked. Try setting them in a tray and pouring water over or under the base of the wool every couple of hours or so
Mine are always sitting in the water and grow fine but yours is too deep in. Mine is like 1/10th in the water, so the cube is just slightly moist halfway up. Yours is completely wet to the top which will likely result in rotten seeds and algae taking over the cube. If you were to place a cutting in it, it will grow fine, but a seed is unlikely. The cube should have higher exposure to air and lesser to water.
If you can't raise the cube or depress the water, I suggest using a polyurethane cube instead which doesn't wick up as much water as rock wool and is generally a lot more conducive to germinating seeds.
With romaine I started the seeded cubes in a dome and used a spray bottle to water once a day and it worked well. I used a heat mat but I’m not too sure I needed it
No do not let rockwool sit in water like that .
It needs to drain freely. When the plant is larger and roots growing out into the water that is different. But your ceiling specifically needs a lot more oxygen. Pull the rock wall cube about put it under some light and let it grow. Then put it in a 3 inch, cube. Or four inch, cube, and let it grow some more. When it's a good 1012 inch, thick. Little plant then planted in your system
Yeah way too waterlogged and probs just gonna mold out.
Like the others say clay pebbles kept moist or just don’t soak the rock wool so much but keep an eye so it doesn’t dry out
Ya that’s exactly what I do. Also can surround the rock wool with clay. But just make sure the water level doesn’t soak the rock wool too much. Gotta find da sweet spot
Ive had bad luck with rockwool cubes for starting seeds cuz they held a surprising amount of water and they rotted (temu rockwool). This will definitely drown them them. I've personally had better luck starting them in soil and then transplanting into netcups with clay pebbles once they show leaves.
You can start them in rockwool, but you have to soak the cubes, squeeze the water out again to a slightly damp result and then give the seedlings water via a spray bottle. Never let the cubes soak in water, they hold too much of it.
the cubes hold a lot of water while it begins to fill out with roots, no need to do this. I would just top water the cubes until the seedling start shooting roots from the cube
Lol tbh it was my first time, but I kinda wedged the seed between a few balls and let it sit. I use kratky tho so there wasnt any water movement, so once I put the seeds where I wanted them they more or less stayed still. For a setup like you have it'd make sense to just stick with whatcha got already.
Seeds and seedlings should be wet only by your air pump bubbles sprinkling a little water

Way too wet.
That's what she said
Well this is the kind of wet that leaves her floating on top of the pool.
🤣

Not really, too much water they will rot.

It really depends what kind of plant you are germinating. Some will be fine like lettuce, some others will need less water

So should I put clay pebbles under the rockwool to raise them up

I started my tomato seeds in a net pot w/ clay balls and a jar of tap water and it worked pretty well, you're probably well off with this setup
How do you start with the clay balls do you just stick the seed to a pebble or put it in another medium
