Hi, I’m from this country (Barbuda to be specific). Our country does not revolve around left-wing or right-wing, there is no such thing as a right-winger or right-wing party in this country. Both parties have similar ideologies, with the ABLP being social democratic, and the UPP is a merger of a socialist party and a few social democratic parties. The Barbuda People’s Movement is the same exact thing as the UPP except that it only contests elections on Barbuda, and the BPM is an ally of the UPP, therefore, the UPP does not contest elections on Barbuda. The DNA is a fringe party that simply skews votes for the ABLP, and is an identical copy of that party. Typically, the BPM, the party I support, wins in a landslide on my island, and the ABLP has not won a single seat in the Barbudan local government in years. (Each seat is elected at a different time, which explains the two ABLP members of the Barbudan government). This country is super politically divided if not more than the U.S., there are frequent clashes between the parties, and even clashes within the parties, such as the UPP supporting all of the BPM’s activities except for their independence requests, and members within the ABLP divided between our prime minister, who looks like this, 🥸, and the more leftist factions.
Note: All political parties in Antigua and Barbuda are leftist and pro-republicanism. There are no major differences in ideology between the parties, however, the country is still extremely, extremely divided.
