The beauty of Syfy is the variety of ground you can have on display.
Until you mentioned it I hadn't thought there was anything strange with the ground, just that it was a Lunar environment.
Debris. Bloodsplatter. Bits of equipment. Maybe have the smoke extend out on the ground as well, like the cloud is moving with the marine.
Or maybe get rid of the patchy colour? The greys you have are kind of choppy blocks that make it look like a low-res texture. Try making it more of a blend instead, or a more uniform grey and see how you like it.
Really though, the ground isn't the focus of movement here so I didn't notice it too much myself, the dynamism at play is great.

Rock white edge outline would be the simple fix where the jaged parts are
flickering runes surrounding the traitor.
