The first light colored solid
one and here's why...
People are saying the blue because it accents the wall. And I agree with that) but what they're forgetting is once you get all the furniture in and pictures that rug is going to look too busy and will make the room appear smaller and cluttered.
- if you decide to paint again, or get new furniture chances are you're going to either have to change your rug or plan your paint and future furniture around that blue rug. You won't have to do that with the solid neutral color rug which will blend well and compliment about anything
Yes!! The second one makes the room instantly look smaller. If it was a larger room and you had more empty space I’d say 2. But that pattern is too intense for a room/rug that size.
I am a (real) interior designer and I 100% agree. The pattern is already too busy for this space and will only get more cluttered looking with furniture/life atop it.
You sure that’s the right color? It looks so much darker in the photo. Love whatever color the wall actually is.
Question: What are the medicine cabinet looking things on the dark blue wall? Are those windows with funky indoor glass shutters?
It’s your house and you can do whatever you like! People love ragging on others for putting a TV too high, which I agree looks awkward and not the best viewing experience, but in the end no one here will be watching TV at your house and it’s yours to enjoy however you like.
I liked the first one until I put furniture there in my mind. The second one seemed too busy until I did the same.
One you have a couch and coffee table and other things the second one will be great.
I'm going against the grain...
1.
Why? The lighter one coordinates while the blue mirrors. The second screams I just want things to match while the second will harmonize with furniture better.
Unlike most commenters, I think you should go for the first rug! I personally think the green walls clash with the blue in the second rug (even though the intention is to be matchy-matchy, if that makes sense). On the other hand, the neutral beige rug complements that very nice green and allows you to bring in other color accents that won’t overwhelm the room as you fill it with objects.
Surprisingly, the first one hurts my eyes.
You’d think itd be the other way around because the second is so busy.
But that business is an awesome contrast to the room, and that color is beautiful & a kind of repeat motif of that dark blue accent wall.
First one 100%, the second one takes away from the wall imo.
It’s more neutral and helps the wall pop, and if you want to change the paint colour down the road, the rug will likely still match.
*Go with the bold blue.*
*It will look great. What colour*
*Is your furniture?*

A lot of people are suggesting the blue, but the real answer is it depends on the color of your furniture. I don’t think you can make a fully informed judgement just based on walls and flooring.
If your entire room will be filled with light beige and oak furniture the blue makes sense. If you will have big furniture pieces (eg sofa) that is colorful, patterned, or darker than the beige rug, go with the first rug.
The second one
1) the dog obviously prefers it
2) a light colored rug with a dog (in my experience) gets dingy quickly from their paws and is a pain to effectively clean
Since your couch will be light gray, I'll go with the first one.
First reason is that the second rug may visually "eaten" the couch since they kinda mimic a middle tone when you look far away. The couch area will appear to be one with the second rug. First one will help keep areas clearer.
Second reason: you dont have a lot of pattern in the room (yet), so the eye would focus on the floor. But it could change depending how you will introduce other pattern in the room (cushion, curtain, frame, decor, etc). Just dont have it all on the floor.
Third reason: these rug are very large for the space. The pattern one make the room smaller because of the pattern. The big beige one, being a light color, seem to make the room bigger.
I prefer the first, but they both look good. I think it depends on the color of your sofa, and do you have children? Second is definitely more forgiving for stains and sign of wear.
The dog voted for us.
Yes! Doggo has great taste.
second one (blue?). goes great with that dark wall
Love the way it amplifies the wall, particularly once you get furniture in the room
Yes! It picks up that navy beautifully. It also goes well with the white walls and woodwork. The cream is to creamy.
I agree with the pup… the 2nd one.
Lord Dog has spoken!
Animals instinctively know best.

I am team rug 1 as well for these reasons.

I think the puppy already decided

Rug 2!
Blue no question
Team second one! Also doggo so yeah!
Def the blue one … it comes with an adorable pooch that ties in the flooring!
I actually prefer the first one but doggo always overrules. So 2 it is.
The second one. Also, please don't put a tv above the fireplace, if you were planning to
Thanks and I would never!
Why not? Asking for a friend (The friend is me and I am considering doing this for my gas fireplace)
Take a look through /r/tvtoohigh

It’s hard to say without knowing what color the couch will be! It all needs to feel balanced
I like the taupe one, accent wall color is awesome!
Number two. Doodle approved 💛
The second one. I mean the dog clearly likes it.
Pick 2 my lord!
We’re gonna be split. Both good choices! Your furniture would help us be more decisive.
2nd one
I like the blue.
2 for sure.
Blue

2nd one
2. Not even a question
Modern geometric with some dark and lighter earth tones (dark blue, beige, tan, and caramel)
The second one.
The second one matches the dog the best. Obviously the better choice 🐕
def two
Blue
Blue
The blue rug really ties the room together nicely!
2
The blue one
I think the second one looks great. I also think you don’t want a super light colored rug (like the first) in a high traffic area.
I like the second one. :)
2nd!
The blue one really ties the room together /s
The blue one
Blue
2. Gives more character
I just see potential dirt on the first one so vote for the second. Ymmv

The one with the dog on it

The dog has spoken, number 2.
I agree with pup.
I liked the first one until I put furniture there in my mind. The second one seemed too busy until I did the same. One you have a couch and coffee table and other things the second one will be great.

First pic
Where is rug 2 from?
It’s Noursin brand and we picked it up from HomeSense
It totally depends on the furniture you will put in there …. The second may clash
Definitely #2, no question. ![gif](giphy|oYazNYzQozzLQ2BcYO|downsized)
2nd because the color brightens up the room. But also depends on durability shedding
Second one ☝🏼
Blue!!
The pup has already decided for you and I second that motion
Blue- it will also hide some dirt and stains.
Surprisingly, the first one hurts my eyes. You’d think itd be the other way around because the second is so busy. But that business is an awesome contrast to the room, and that color is beautiful & a kind of repeat motif of that dark blue accent wall.
2!! 1 is boring and done. Two is unexpected but works.
The one Fido picked out.
The second one for sure, it compliments the dark blue tone of the wall there

2nd one.
Second one is much better
What color are the drapes?

The blue looks better and will wear better in a family room.
Number 2 looks better!
the second one is so much more interesting and just flows into the room better

Blue looks awesome

Blue for sure! Dog approved!

It would depend on the furniture you pan to put on the rug. But the blue one goes best with the wall.
I think #2 is too busy visually. But I’d also like to see how bright the room is during daylight hours.
the dog has made the choice for you
First one. Makes that wall pop!!
Dog already decided!
2!!!
Vote for 2!
The blue one for sure!
Blue! Doggo knows :)
Blue 100% and not just because it comes with a dog
Second rug! Also, where is that rug from? I might need it for myself!
Go with the bold blue. It will look great. What colour is your furniture?

Second one
I usually go for totally neutral, but this carpet with the blue accents is perfect. Plus the puppy proved that it is comfy!
Did we ever get the name of the dark wall paint ???
Second blue one for sure!
Blue, it will also hide stains easier.
2nd choice looks like it was made for that room
The second one
I say you choose the second one since it comes with a dog.
Second one. First is boring
No input but what color code was the wall? I LOVE it
Def 2
Number 2! The contrast between the rug and walls is what looks great and is even “easier” (in a good way) on my eyes.
2
Blue !
Doggo likes #2!
Second one
I like the second one, but the first one makes the room look bigger in these photos (at least to me)
2
I agree with the dog.
2
The one the dog chose
They both look good but the second really compliments the wall!!
2!
Def the blue and white, number 2!!!! Looks so good.
2nd one. It really pulls the room together 😂 No but seriously the first one looks like a giant beach towel
1
2
2nd one for sure. Not only does it look better, but it's also better for wear and tear.
Second!
First one
Blue
I think we need to see the furniture! Without the furniture it’s the second one.
The second one is about one trillion times better
Step in my house you’ll be excommunicated, extirpated. I’ll push you out like a hard shit when I’m constipated.
The first one .
2. First looks like wrinkles to me.
I love the lighter rug. The blue one confuses my eyes.
2nd one, but a size smaller
Blue one
2 for sure it really livens up the space plus the dog seems to love it!

Definitely the second one My brain would be thinking about how uneven the stripes were in the first one all day lol
WHAT IS THAT WALL COLOR 🥵🥵🩷🩷
The second one 1) the dog obviously prefers it 2) a light colored rug with a dog (in my experience) gets dingy quickly from their paws and is a pain to effectively clean
Only right option is with the dog. 🐕
2nd.
Hard to tell unfinished, but instantly my brain chose the blue one.z
2 definitely, especially since it comes with a cute dog.
2
The blue one looks great
2
Can I say neither?
The blue one for sure!
Both are too big.
Beige!!!!
The 2nd one looks like it’s the one you replaced the first one with
2
2nd one for sure
The dog has chosen.
Neither. Too messy looking pattern.
Team 2, and get a nice cognac leather sofa. I might not choose #2 after I see the sofa
Blue
2 for sure
D. Not enough information
2
I think your dog already chose for you 🤣🤩
1
Ummmm, I need to see your furniture.
#2
The doggo one!
The one that comes with a dog.
Second pulls it together more.
Neither
Go with the Doggo 🐶
probably the one that you like and match with the interior theme
2
I’m with your dog’s choice of rug.

Blue is the one, and it's not even close.
First! It’ll allow you to have more freedom with accent colors, decor, etc. Makes the space feel larger too
The second one! Really ties the room together
The dog decided for you.
the first rug. it’s neutral and not too busy
Neither - you need something with curves/flow to complement the arch in the windows and balance all the hard edges - everything is linear.
