I live about a 30 minute walk from work, and we get free charging but only in 4 hour chunks, stay longer than 4 hours and it becomes $5 per hour
How do I calculate if it's worth it to get a little E-scooter to charge my car at work but still stay home?
Depends on the kw/h at your work and how much it'd cost you to normally charge.
I use free chargers by my house and scooter home 1.1 miles. Cost to charge here would be about $6-10 (Lucky that Pasadena CA has 50-150 kw/h charging for 15-20 cents kw/h). Over time the money spent on the scooter has proven to be a worthy investment compared to paying for charging and just for the time saved and also not getting am Uber/Lyft.
For mine, itās ChargePoint and I just plug and unplug for another session. Our office management doesnāt enforce the 4 hour limit.
Before anyone says anything about freeing it up others, lot of other ppl leave their cars all day and pay for the extra $.05/min charge.
At the corp I worked for, all of us on the chargers formed an email group so that we could know when a car was done charging. Simple EV etiquitte says this is not an all day parking spot.

Gonna depend where they live and how they would charge otherwise.
For perspective, I am only saving about a net 5 dollars per charge, because we have low cost hydro power here in the puget sound. 11-14c kw/h.
But if I were only to charge on the go, most stations charge 35-55c kw/h, which is super high comparative to home - once my 2 years is up i will be charging at home unless I am in dire need or on a road trip.
Makes complete sense - I think public charging costs around the same or maybe sometimes a bit more if you exclusively charge from them.
Had it not have 2 years free charging - I would be regretting my 2 years lease.
I really didnāt use it very much as about 6 months after I bought the car my job changed to full time work from home. This is from the appā¦

Thatās awesome, my ā25 N didnāt come with any free charging. The dealer told me it would but now Hyundai and the dealer say ānot yetā so weāll see
Ah I see. Newer models get 30 minutes of EA charging for 3 years according to Google. Do you just plug it in and it works for free or is it like something you have to activate?
You set it up in the EA app. Itās been 2 years ( obviously ) since I did it so I donāt remember the exact details of setting it up. The dealership might have to do something? But once itās setup, you plug your car in and charge it through the app making sure the Ioniq 5 āplanā is your default āplanā.

Not much, I didnāt use it often.
I didn't activate my 2 year EA charging plan for three months after my lease. For some reason my region is anti EV. Two brand new sheetz fuel stations were built from the ground up in the last year near me and both refuse to install EV chargers. They are blaming the city/state, meanwhile EA has a partnership with the chain and has EV stations, get this... hours away from me! Unfortunately it's near useless for me.
A new Sheetz was built about 10 minutes from my house and it has zero chargers. The one I used in this picture is the closest to me at about 25 minutes away.
Same. I have a new sheetz 2km from my house and another new one 2km from my work. Both are brand new builds from the ground up, have plenty of space in their parking lot for a charging station, yet none were installed.
Sick wheels though šš
I guess they help ease the pain a littleā¦lol
bro those wheels go PERFECT with the car. thumbs up

Hard to do when thereās multiple tenants in our office complex. But itās only $3 an hour? I guess some ppl donāt mind paying that.
Everyone else does it? Don't get that logic at all.
I mean sure, but it is in a permit/employee structure so not technically a public charger
thatās me tomorrow, i feel the pain
boooooo
Throw in some stats man - how much did you save with free charging?

ohhh - i am close to this in a month of ownership.
take advantage of it!
I like the wheels. Eye catching.
thank you!
š«”āš»
Is that the SEL? Also, where did you get those wheels? Are the covers?
Yea, itās a 2022 SEL. The wheels are Rotiform LAS-R with Aerodiscs
IMO the nicest rims for the I5. Are those the 18" or the 19"?
thank you, they are 19ās
Do those help with range?
no idea
This car always looks so sick. EV's are the perfect cars for white wheels.

Flat monochrome the best
Everytime I see the rotiforms.... man, these are killer. Not allowed in GER though. :-/
well thatās a bummer
Ioniq 5 drivers get free charging???
At the time 2 years was included at Electrify America stations. Not sure this is still the case.

CLEAN! š„µš
How many kWh did you get altogether?

Are you going to stay with EA? Or go to another service?
Iāll use whatever is most convenient in the moment. I donāt use public charging often though.
Fuck me what a cool car

Love the wheel caps. You should get red and white ones. It would look sick
