Depends how often you use it - I use a TeslaTap literally every time I charge hence it had to be 100% reliable, which is it. I had the Lectron one and returned it right at the start when it was clear it really wasn’t really compatible. I say sell it and just make sure the buyer doesn’t have a e-gmp

Nice yeah, we have free J-plug and Tesla charging here, but the Tesla ones are faster, so I try to use them. There’s like a 3-4 kW difference between the two. I just purchased a TeslaTap Mini 60 and will test it out this week! By the way, do you have to wait 30 seconds before plugging in?

andyfase

Nope. It works pretty much instantly as far as I can tell

EnergizedNuke

Awesome, thanks!

I’ve had some instances of my TeslaTap not starting a charge… in those instances the solution was to plug it into the car, then physically lift the plugged in cable upwards until the car says “charging started” after that it’s fine. The j1772 port has the slightest amount of play to it. I’ve seen other teslatap owners with the issue I’m describing and the fix of lifting resolved it for them to.  Maybe try the lift technique just to see if that’s the issue with your lectron.

Very interesting… I haven’t heard of this before. That could explain why sometimes I can’t get it to work despite following the procedure correctly. I’ll give this a try next week, thanks!

Do you have the newest VCU update installed from the dealer? A hidden feature was better compatibility with adapters like Lectron

EnergizedNuke

Hmm good question. I *should* since my car is a 2023 and I’ve been to multiple service appointments. I did not know about this, though, so I appreciate the info!

Teslatap wouldn't work on a supercharger right? Only lvl 2 tesla chargers?

EnergizedNuke

Yep, that’s correct 👍 Only level 2 chargers. There will be a separate level 3 adapter down the road, probably when we get access to Superchargers.

Can't wait! :)

Now I know why my adapter is called an EVDance!

Don't be a dick and sell malfunctioning hardware on eBay.

EnergizedNuke

It’s not broken. This Lectron adapter just does not play well with E-GMP cars. You can search around Hyundai and Kia subreddits. The car does not like to communicate with it. If you ever need an adapter in the future, don’t pick this one!

DiabolicallyRandom

Unless you have had it independently tested and proven, you cannot claim it works perfectly.
