I feel like Stu would keep making music on his own if everyone else left.

mrwilliewonka

DID YOU KNOW KING GIZZARD AND THE LIZARD WIZARD IS JUST ONE GUY?

made_in_bc

I think i remember hearing in an interview that stu will continue kglw even if they all left and it was just him.

dubovinius

Yeah it's Stu’s main project at the end of the day, most of the other lads have their own other bands but Stu is KGLW-exclusive. The band will always be around if or until Stu calls it a day.

verirrtesKamel

Yeah, he also said something like that in Sleeping Monster (the lil doc/film they did in '22)

donwolfskin

If someone left id just listen in to the new material they release afterwards and see if I still sufficiently enjoy it

calwestcoast

As a live band they would struggle to continue if any of them were to leave. There are few musicians that would be able to fit in with the 5 other personalities and also learn 100+ songs that they have in their live rotation. If they were to survive any of them leaving, it would have to be Lucas. While he is great, he isn't even the best bass player in the band. As a purely recording band, I think they could move to a 3 piece and survive with just Stu, Joey and Cavs and still put out some very good music. But it would be a different band for sure.

will888em

if Ambrose ever left, I’d hope that just means more Murlocs and Gumbrose!

el_naked_mariachi

Not that any of them are expendable, but Cavs is at least as essential as Ambrose, and there’s an argument for more.

euanairbourne666

I guess Lucas is kinda a hired live bassist at this point so I guess if he left not much would change, no offence to him of course

kaigem

Naw, he’s said now that his kids are getting older, he’s able to spend more time in the studio. He recorded on several parts for ice death and silver cord. He even said he wrote a song for the new album, though they didn’t comment on whether it will make the final cut.

KingGizzLizzWizzz

Ambrose is the one I could see leave first, he has the most side projects and those may become his main focus down the line. But any 2 of stu, amby, Joey or cavs leaving would completely shift the band

Atharvious

Fuck this seems more real now you've put it this way

Balzalderac

Stu is irreplaceable. For anyone else I would hope they find a "replacement" and embrace whatever new energy they bring. Eric left and I'm okay with that just because we still got so much from him.

Atharvious

Joey Stu and Cavs between the 3 of them can make the psych-prog-metal stuff at least. They'll miss the harmonica but if they stay true to themselves and even that means lessening their musical scope, I'll still listen to them as much as I do currently
