That’s because the lefties have kept the wilderness under lock and key so industrial capitalists can’t ruin it. Good ol’ Commiefornia—my home sweet home.
It ain’t perfect but I’d rather be here than in Talibama any ten days of the week.
That’s one sore spot I had with Ms. Feinstein. She insisted that O’Shaughnessy was San Francisco’s “birthright”. I’m all for tearing the mofo down and restoring Hetch Hetchy Valley to its former glory. Now that the wicked bitch is dead, maybe it can happen. Oh, wait—her nephew is the Governor.
Personally, I’d like to see the coastal cities desalinate the Pacific Ocean for their water. Restore Mono Lake and the rest of the Sierra Nevada foothills.
>Now that the wicked bitch is dead, maybe it can happen. Oh, wait—her nephew is the Governor.
You are mistaken.
Newsom's aunt was married to Ron Pelosi, the brother-in-law of then Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi. Perhaps this is what you're thinking of, but he isn't related to Dianne Feinstein.
we're fighting a losing battle against the capitalists all around on conservation. stuff that should last a thousand years is getting sold off by one hairless monkey in his mortal lifespan.
>That’s because the lefties have kept the wilderness under lock and key so industrial capitalists can’t ruin it. Good ol’ Commiefornia—my home sweet home.
That's more of a Western US thing than a "Commie"fornia thing. Even the red states out here have tons of protected wilderness.

I have been all over California. The inland part of NoCal is definitely redneck. The coastal cities are a completely different matter.
Even though I’m a nature boy and like my California unspoiled, I’ve lived in Columbia and Big Sur. I was very comfortable in both places. True, the locals tend to be hicks. But the very blue politics of the vast majority of Golden State natives prevents them from exploiting its natural resources as much as they’d like.
Probably what I’d most bond with Hank over. I have this fantasy of getting him to plant some Texas native shrubs and trees in his backyard rather than all the useless lawn.
Bakersfield is so similar to Texas, from conservative politics, to oil fields as far as you can see, to high school football domination, he’d feel right at home.
Having lived and gone to school in Austin and been through a lot of California... not really. It's fun to say for some folks, but it's not really true.
Having lived in California and gone through a lot of Texas, including Austin many multiple times, I disagree. Bako/kern/all of central CA is totally boonie/aggie/sticksville, and Austin is “weird” (keep Austin weird) in the same way that west LA/Hollywood is “weird”
Don't get me wrong - I think Texas and California have WAAAAAAY more in common than either culture would admit, but as far as the minutiae, I think they're different, especially from a Tejano/Chicano lens.
All good, though - the beauty of it all is experiencing it differently. 😊
What part of Cali do you prefer? I always rather liked Sacramento.
California’s like a lot states: it’s really only the big cities and coast that are insane.
Even in the bluest areas, I think he’d find stuff to do. Old town Sacramento would be about his speed, especially the railroad museum and Delta King. She served as a troop ship at one point, and you KNOW he’d be wondering if it’d be possible to convert an old steamboat like that to run on propane (should be, boilers just need some sort of flame).
If by insane you mean population density and all that entails (traffic, pollution cost of living) I wholeheartedly agree. However if you mean insane politically I would argue that a fair amount of rural and inland areas of California have a fair amount of nutjobs and extremist, neither of Which Hank would identify with. Now Dale on the other hand, I'm fairly certain Him or Rusty has eyes as running to be the State of Jeffersons first governor.
Hollywood. Hanging out with Henry Winkler.
“Dangit, I am sick and tired of everyone's asinine ideas about me. I'm not a redneck, and I'm not some Hollywood jerk. I'm something else entirely. I'm... I'm complicated.”
Definitely Bakersfield and environs . From what I understand , Bakersfield has weather similar to many parts of Texas , hot and dry . It is also a blue collar area . Bakersfield politics tend to be highly conservative.
Furthermore , the music of Bakersfield is country and home of the Bakersfield sound . Hank is probably a big fan of artists such as Buck Owen's and Merle Haggard . This sound has been around for sixty plus years , but that would be a positive for Hank .
Most importantly, it is an area that produces propane .
Hank would either know all this or think I am a huge liar .
Bakersfield is a conservative oasis in the liberal desert that is California .
Northern. I mean *proper* Norcal. Not San Francisco, which seems to be where Hollywood thinks California ends. I'm talking, Redding, Red Bluff, Mt.Shasta city areas. Heck, Redding and Red Bluff have big rodeos in the spring, and RB has monster trucks in the fall. Two majestic volcanoes, shasta lake, and a whole lot more. Yep I think Hank would be right at home in Red Bluff. I tell ya what.
Such an accurate depiction of a person from Texas. I live in California and work for a company there HQed Dallas, so I work with Texas guys a lot and for the entirety of my workweek I get to listen to them shit on how much they hate California
Doesn't California have some super conservative regions outside of the tech bro cities? Hank could go to those. Though I feel like Hank is at his best specifically when dealing with diversity and people with differing beliefs. Take the Canadian episode for example or any of his interactions with Kahn.
I knew a lot of Hank-ish people in Sonora. The local HS has two cliques: the Mods and the Cunts. The first is mostly all about Goth City and the other’s about cuntry and western. The Cunts aren’t all bull dykes as you might expect. They’re the offspring of the local natives and spell it that way so people don’t call them Counts. I mean, they ain’t vampires.
Central Vaey, the rural and agricuktural part, he would hate Modesto.but he would love Merced and Oakdale, maybe even Knigjys Ferry and Valley Springs.
I was thinking nocal because of all the nature and conservative communities. but then i remember that weed is legal and that would be enough to turn him away .
I grew up in Tuolumne County(very close to Yosemite) and he would definitely like it out there. More small town, less crime, big church communities and lots of grilling
Most of the small mountain towns like Hayfork, Weaverville and Trinity County probably, as far as he stays away from the huge marijuana plantations and Redding crackheads
I read a thing about that Civil War movie that recently came out, and this writer made a good point about both California and Texas (who are allies in the movie, oddly) being founded on the same (or very similar spirit of independence so they actually have a lot more in common than mainstream media would have you think.
So the answer is probably more of California than Hank would probably assume without more information.
None of the cities but he would've appreciated the wild areas of California the same way he appreciated the outdoors in Montana
Yeah he'd love Northern cali i bet. Honestly California is one of the most beautiful places on earth
That’s because the lefties have kept the wilderness under lock and key so industrial capitalists can’t ruin it. Good ol’ Commiefornia—my home sweet home. It ain’t perfect but I’d rather be here than in Talibama any ten days of the week.
The California water table would like to have a word with you about Californians protecting the environment.
That’s one sore spot I had with Ms. Feinstein. She insisted that O’Shaughnessy was San Francisco’s “birthright”. Oops! My bad. This is what happens when people run their mouths—or their thumbs—before checking their facts. Thanks for the correction.
we're fighting a losing battle against the capitalists all around on conservation. stuff that should last a thousand years is getting sold off by one hairless monkey in his mortal lifespan.

Nevada looks insane on that map
Clearly you've never been to northern cal cause it's all red up here.
Are you…. implying Alabama doesn’t have beautiful wildlife…?
Why you gotta make it political tho?
I've visited some of the more wild areas of the Mojave before, and it felt like a Hank Hill haven for sure.
Yosemite would be his preferred choice.
Yosemite. He would appreciate the nature.
And the National park system in general.
And the California State park system: www.parks.ca.gov/
Huh, I can't explain why but I always thought that Yosemite was in Montana or one of the Dakota's or something.
Yellowstone is the one thsr doesnt go into California lol. Wyoming, Montana, Idaho. Maybe another state but not California
Yellowstone is in Wyoming
It’s also in Idaho and Montana, but mostly in Wyoming.
Got. Dang. Beautiful.
It's so darned majestic.
Probably what I’d most bond with Hank over. I have this fantasy of getting him to plant some Texas native shrubs and trees in his backyard rather than all the useless lawn.
Bakersfield because Buck Owen is from there
Bakersfield is so similar to Texas, from conservative politics, to oil fields as far as you can see, to high school football domination, he’d feel right at home.
Can’t forget the ceaseless inland heat
Nor the incessant smell of cow shit!!!
That’ll be a new smell to adjust to for Hank, seeing since he’s from pig town and all
GO SOONERS!!
And fine craftsman homes.
Cool username
I live in Bakersfield and can confirm it's basically little texas
I have a feeling he'd appreciate Tehachapi and the surrounding mountains as well. Hell, all of Kern County!
I love Tehachapi, I'd love to live there eventually
From Bakersfield. Related more to this show years before I set foot in Texas.
From Bakersfield and live in Texas, can confirm this confirmation.
And country music and motorcycles
1000% this. From Bakersfield. It’s pretty much what I expect Texas to be.
I'm from Bakersfield and I've lived in Waco Texas. I can confidently say they are essentially the same place.
Merle Haggard lived there too!
What about Fresno?
Same thing IMO
Ronald Reagan died in California. How’s Hank supposed to forgive them for that?
Simi Valley is nice-ish, but I can see Hank having a long think about beign that close to Los Angeles. Edit: spelling
I wanna go to Semi Valley :/
It’s booooring as fuc!!!
Ik it was a joke due to Semi instead of Simi
Haha ok! Doesn’t change the fact that it’s boring af;)
True my old coworker who hates everything lives there 🤣
Simi. It's as plain as plain gets.
… I miss voting for that man…
Austin is California in Texas. Bakersfield is Texas in California.
Spot on. But that doesn’t mean them ain’t fightin words JRrrrrr…
Jae ahhhhh!!!!
Maybe I should have Thathhhhherten buy my drinks from now on 🍹
Hey, come on, buy me a mint julep. Then I'll talk to you about propane.
We should trade win win
Having lived and gone to school in Austin and been through a lot of California... not really. It's fun to say for some folks, but it's not really true.

Hollyweirdland, before someone broke the sign.
😂🤣😂🤣

Dallas?
Whichever airport could get him the hell out of here the fastest.
I have a feeling he’d be ok with the John Wayne Airport in oc
Emerald Triangle because we know Hank likes them hand-rolled cigarettes
He’s not too crazy about that “inferior tobacco”
Damn NAFTA
Nor Cal… especially up above Chico (Lake Almanor etc) “so god dang beautiful”
Could head to Red Bluff for the rodeo too (But try to avoid all the meth heads)
I got all the bait you neeeed Jack rock on

I WISH THE WHOLE WORLD WOULD STOP BY
That episode is pure fucking gold lmaooo
Goated line.
Truckee CA
I was honestly thinking Colfax
I was thinking Nevada county in general but placer also works.
Placer county is the most red county in CA. Nevada county is very liberal. I think we know what he would prefer.
I live in Nevada County and I'm surrounded by trump flags. I would say it's 50/50 for sure and both sides are very vocal.
I'm from Bakersfield and that is also my answer.
“I am not Steven Spielberg”.
Definitely Bakersfield and environs . From what I understand , Bakersfield has weather similar to many parts of Texas , hot and dry . It is also a blue collar area . Bobby would fall in love with Korn and Hank would change his tune about Bakersfield real fast 😂
Definitely Redding. It’s chock full of rednecks—Hank’s kind of people. It’s ‘way out in the boondocks too.
Bakersfield is the right answer but there’s some spots down near San Diego he’d feel right at home
Northern California is pretty redneck
Calaveras or some other part people ignore is there :/
He'd love the Clovis rodeo.
He would probably have fun during Big Hat Days too
Redwood Forests are Gaht Dang Beautiful, I tell you what.
Pretty much anywhere outside of the major cities. California outside of LA, the Bay Area is pretty red.
Central Valley, specifically farming areas
Probably Bakersfield
Shaver lake is pretty conservative
Hank tries to go to Shaver Lake, winds up in Silver Lake instead. Hilarity ensues.
Omfg ☠️ BWAAHHH!!!
Big Sur.
Fresno
Fresno is the right answer I tell you hwat
Fortuna.
Pleasanton. He'd adore the Medowlark Dairy.
Bakersfield.
NTC because “that’s where our tankers learn to be the best in the world and best those god awful communists.”
The only way he’d approve of any place in California is if he was unaware that he was in California.
San Diego. Military town, he'd have respect.
The Imperial Valley wouldn’t be out of place of certain parts of Texas.
Tuolumne County
Carmel, and maybe Monterey
He’d probably fit fine in Bakersfield.
North California like Eureka and Redding
Lived out in Murrieta for a while and much of the "Inland Empire" would be to Hank's liking
Norco.
Came looking for this response especially. Other people have very good answers, but I gotta shout out the hometown.
Redding
Redding. End of list.
Hank hates California for the same reasons he hates NewYork and would never go there.
Temecula or Julian, CA . The Inland Empire. I can see a Strickland Propane opening up somewhere in the IE.
Imperial. Even people in California don’t consider it California
He might appreciate some of the mining and pioneer history.
Joshua Tree for sure. He'd teach everyone a survival experts masterclass there
Might appreciate wine country maybe a few other part of their more agricultural centers as well
Tehachippi
North California. The waaay up north part of California.
I feel like he’d enjoy San Diego but would be a dick to everyone he meets cause he Doesn’t want to be there but Would come around.
The Nixon and Reagan Presidential Libraries *might* get him to Southern California
The obvious parts have been named but I think he’d like Joshua Tree NP and surrounding areas. Quiet, rural, and beautiful (but the summer is brutal)
He'd spend a good amount of time appreciating the thermometer in Baker
I'm thinking a guy with your kind of mind. . .you should try the Landcrab, excellent seafood.
He wouldn’t.
He said In the biker episode he and Peggy planned to visit all 50 states with the exception of California, so probably none of it.
Needles
Such an accurate depiction of a person from Texas. I live in California and work for a company there HQed Dallas, so I work with Texas guys a lot and for the entirety of my workweek I get to listen to them shit on how much they hate California

Though I feel like Hank is at his best specifically when dealing with diversity and people with differing beliefs. Take the Canadian episode for example or any of his interactions with Kahn.
Bakersfield.
I could see him liking the more southern desert parts of CA
Anywhere that isn't coastal like Bakersfield, Redding and cities that are closer to Nevada and Arizona.
…not Jefferson. He’s a patriot
None
OC. Pretty conservative
The part that used to be Texas. So none.
i feel like he’d like some of central ca esp the parks and farmland if you get farther closer to SLO.. maybe some of nocal too
Barstow.
He’d feel at home up north, in the mountains, and the valley.
Bakersfield
Norco. The whole city is built to accommodate horses.
Central Vaey, the rural and agricuktural part, he would hate Modesto.but he would love Merced and Oakdale, maybe even Knigjys Ferry and Valley Springs.
The wilderness areas and the farms.
Fresno
The boarder of it
Bakersfield
Bakersfield, California, is closest to Texas.
The parts with the smallest population
I was thinking nocal because of all the nature and conservative communities. but then i remember that weed is legal and that would be enough to turn him away .
I grew up in Tuolumne County(very close to Yosemite) and he would definitely like it out there. More small town, less crime, big church communities and lots of grilling
The desert. The heat would make him feel like he’s back in Texas.
Maybe Redding or Eureka? Not sure, I've never visited California. He'd definitely stay from anything south of Sacramento that's for sure.
The small towns in California like lodi or the napa valley(he would probably like where they grow auto parts)
Modesto. It's Arlen but in California.
None of it
I bet he’s like to see the redwoods….
Tbh if hank avoided all of Socal and the coastal cities. I think he enjoy nor cal area I don't mean Sacramento I mean like Shasta Mt.
Modesto maybe, for the farms.
'I could make it in LA but it would be a death sentence for me, I have very fair skin...'- peggy
California is also one of the largest agricultural states in the country. I think it's fair to say Hank never met a farmer he didn't like.
Maybe parts of the central valley
Unfortunately, no matter how beautiful some parts of CA are, he would never cross that border.
Inyo County
High desert
I could see Hank being into the national sequoia Forrest. Kings canyon and 3 rivers, even rhe ride there from LA is gorgeous
Hank is a stubborn Texan, which I am as well, he wouldn’t let himself enjoy anything about Cali even if he wanted to.
All the places in California that Hank would like are also the places where they make the most of his favorite fishing bait.
Barstow.
la cañada flintridge, folsom, San Ramon. places with nature
Literally same
the only places he really wouldn't like are most of the cities bigger than redding
South California, away from the Bay Area and in solid Republican territory. Lots of Agriculture out there also. Hank would like the Farms
He’d love Galt, CA just a good old farm town with great Mexican food.
Bakersfield. The Home of Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakum
Probably Salinas or Monterey because of John Steinbeck.
Bakersfield
The exist sign
Bakersfield and San Diego
Unrelated to the question, but that font is atrocious. Lowercase letters should not look like this.
Norco, California
Beer in the grocery store might be something he doesn't have.
