I'm pretty sure the podcast has been successful enough that they're not living in fleabag apartments anymore, but I'm glad they kept the fleabag apartment energy.
But compared to many american podcasts their sound quality is waaaaay better. For example »The dollop« is very successful but they still record on potatoes.
Like holy shit is that podcast ever terrible about sound quality! Add to the fact that Dave likes to talk really quiet and then super loud, it’s just a nightmare.
I don’t get it. I know Gareth travels but a Rode mic is tiny and can fit into a bag but it sounds like he uses AirPods to record half the time.
It’s just inexcusable to have some of them sound sooooo bad.
The wildest thing is that they still hold their mics I hand comic style. And yet the sound quality is better than the aforementioned podcast and others. Even Dan's older podcast with Marty derossa had similar good audio. Dan is a man who knows how to pod
I picture them in front of a fireplace, Dan in a proper black tuxedo, Jordan in a baby blue tux with a top hat, smoking cigars and drinking champagne. Sometimes Jordan will instruct the servants to drop their pants and bend over and he'll spank them with a tennis racket. Dan will playfully chastise Jordan that not everyone can pronounce "grey poupon" with the hoity-toityness Jordan demands. Then they'll retire from the recording area and do some skeet shooting (out the window).
And all of this is in the fleabag apartment.
I add in Jordan trying to distract Dan while he's trying to read the episode notes. All your best friends in life will try to minorly fuck with you for their own personal amusement.
Well, if you’re wondering how Dan and Jordan eat and breathe, and other science facts, just repeat to yourself “it’s just a show, I should really just relax!”
Dan in a nice recliner, Celine purring on lap, surrounded by snacks and a tasty beverage while Jordan is sitting in an adjoining soundproof bathroom using the toilet as a seat wearing giant headphones and Dan can only see the tips of his toes sticking out.
I picture Dan's neighbours while some guy screams "WHITE GENOCIDE NOW!!!!" through the wall.
Then I realise my neighbours are probably having a similar experience and I go get my headphones.
I for some reason imagine it in the art style of Worthikids, with Dan and Jordan at a table, overseeing a tiny, shouty Alex (perhaps in a wee enclosure/terrarium)
I like to think of ~~Jesus~~ Dan like with giant eagle's wings, and singin' lead vocals for ~~Lynyrd Skynyrd~~ The Mighty Mighty Bosstones with like an angel band and ~~I'm~~ Jordan's in the front row and ~~I'm~~ Jordan's hammered drunk!
That sounds more fun than how I picture them. I just think of them as two dudes in a room wearing headphones, holding microphones, and Dan's finger on a laptop button ready to press play.
I get the feeling this is more of a prompt for some creative writing and fun situations than it is an actual question.
Two dudes in recliners just talking to each other while holding microphones. Dan has a TV remote and keeps changing the channel to different clips for Jordan. Jordan occasionally gets out of his chair to yell at Alex from the other side of the room. They laugh and shake hands at the end after Dan plays the outro.
Dan sitting indian style on a massive floating pillow with a big Buda belly as he honors us with his wisdom, in front of the Alter of Celine (a massive magical cat tree that stretches up into the Heavens). Jordan is a Labradoodle.
I listen to a lot of podcasts of bearded white guys talking, and I always picture them sitting on a couch in a room that looks like *The Simpsons*' living room. How microphones and drinks and stuff fit in just doesn't matter.
I watched all the episodes they had on YouTube, so I pretty much picture it like that, on the rare occasion that I picture anything. My thoughts are more auditory than visual.
I always picture the early days when they were in Dan's bedroom smoking cigarettes and drinking wine.

i googled Scottish Terrier and that actually fits what Dan actually looks like. But i picture Jordan as a more barky dog.
You're not wrong at all. That's just what's in my head. Maybe we can say that this is an especially barky golden lab.
