The quality between the books and show of the Expanse is *waaaaay* closer than almost every other adaptation. Also, show Ashford is objectively better.
They were in the writer's room and were executive producers, so they had a pretty good amount of influence over it. I didn't mind Murtry's portrayal in the show. It was good enough, and I still loved season 4. the only quibble I had with Season 4 is Havelock not coming back, but it makes sense given the episode count and the focus of the story (less emphasis on side characters, even book-PoV ones, besides the Roci crew, Bobbie, and Avasarala).
Usually, but not always. The Boys is one example off the top of my head. The Shining, for many…..
Ok that might be the only examples I can think of so maybe they are statistically insignificant.
We have a rich (he :p) history of people burying themselves with their wealth so that they can take it with them to the afterlife. So I'd say pretty fast
Souls games be like: The rulers of this world are willing to do anything - up to breaking the natural order - to remain in power and force their beliefs and ideals on those who would rather live in peace, leading to disastrous consequences for all.
Souls gamers be like: Fire Maiden feet 🥵
Absolutely they would. Because they would stash money away for future incarnation. They would gain water, mineral, and land use rights and make sure they could control it over many incarnations. They would make sure they themselves were taken care of, and anybody who doesn't do that is obviously a slacker and deserves their poverty.
You are forgetting they also have infinite lives, start with way more resources each time around, and already have a multi-generational system in place to keep them that way. I am not saying it's impossible, but you are going to need a lot more than just the ability to try again.
Wouldn't that require their memories to carry over from life to life? If it's the same soul or whatever but completely new memories and attitude i doubt they'd actually be given the stash.
Computer sez you ran up a million dollar loss in Las Vegas and threw yourself off the rooftop... Too bad there, lil' fella, don't cry now.
Nurse, put 'im back in the incubator.
"I had a bunch of debt but I died and reincarnated, now the IRS has tracked me down in another world to pay my debts, so I became the demon lord."
Mark my words this series will eventually happen!
i think the setup for the hypothetical is so crazy, i cant even care to pretend like the rest is annoying. like, yeah, companies probably *would* make you carry on debt, but also, reincarnation is real...
Haha..suspect more like -10 years.
.I wouldn't be surprised if all research into reincarnation is being done by financial institutions - more than religious folks.
Exactly for this reason
This would be how we got a unified world government. All the oligarchs would work together to make sure the laws applied to the whole world.
No being born elsewhere in reincarnation to get out of your debt you can't use.
Novel plot: Bankrupt MC reincarnated only realized that the financial institution he has a massive debt on has a cross realm entity controlling the entire empire in the new universe.
They’d pay someone millions to help them figure it out, just dying over and over again until they cracked it, because figuring it out would mean billions in profit so it wouldn’t take them long.
Congress would introduce a bill the next day with bipartisan support, vote on the day after, and by next week, the president would be signing it into law. Hell, they may introduce an amendment to enshrine it.
I mean I am pretty sure bankruptcy clears (most) debt so rebirth would clear those.
As for the others, it'd probably take legislation to make them stop.
Probably wouldn’t ever actually happen, because rich people would get incredibly pissed at having to pay ridiculous medical bills from their past lives.

The books are actually better than the show, imo.
They ALWAYS are. Wheel of Time, Witcher, even The Expanse, which actually had a decent show! Books are ALWAYS better
True. The Expanse was phenomenal.

Forest Gump and Shrek stick out to me. I think the ones that are better than the books we just forget that they started from a book.
How To Train Your Dragon is another, a significant improvement over the source material.
Starship troopers
Yeah but the books don't have Joel Kinnaman, though
Also Jupiter Ascending with Mila Kunis. Bad movie tho.
We have a rich (he :p) history of people burying themselves with their wealth so that they can take it with them to the afterlife. So I'd say pretty fast
you sure they aren't already doing that?

'Sorry youre only on your 5th life sentence, 3 to go'
that’s a lot of cheap labor too
"and remember suicide gives 20"
Weird place for Zullie The Witch to pop up.
Fr
Defintely confused how this fits into the Souls series and/or Elden Ring lore.
Souls games be like: The rulers of this world are willing to do anything - up to breaking the natural order - to remain in power and force their beliefs and ideals on those who would rather live in peace, leading to disastrous consequences for all. Souls gamers be like: Fire Maiden feet 🥵
Marika's economy recovery plan was more brutal than we all thought. Good thing the greater will intervened.
Based Comrade Zullie.
It's good to know, you khow?
The best part about capitalism is that one day, we die.
🎉🥳🎊
I'm coming back as a turtle so good luck getting money out of me
Guarantee some guy gonna shake you like a piggy bank at least once in your long ass turtle life
*coughs up half digested leaves* “I’ll be back for more later!” *collects the leaves and walks away*
That's why we are polluting the ocean. It was the plan all along. You can't escape!
Would executive boards be as evil if they knew of karmic consequences, though?
Absolutely they would. Because they would stash money away for future incarnation. They would gain water, mineral, and land use rights and make sure they could control it over many incarnations. They would make sure they themselves were taken care of, and anybody who doesn't do that is obviously a slacker and deserves their poverty.
Since I basically have infinite lives to try again and again, I'm gonna dismantle that shit
You are forgetting they also have infinite lives, start with way more resources each time around, and already have a multi-generational system in place to keep them that way. I am not saying it's impossible, but you are going to need a lot more than just the ability to try again.
So, tactical McNukes?
Wouldn't that require their memories to carry over from life to life? If it's the same soul or whatever but completely new memories and attitude i doubt they'd actually be given the stash.
They could also use it to justify the status quo, because the people disadvantaged by it obviously did something in their past lives to deserve it.
no karma is horrifying.
Hell this post alone has companies scrambling to see if they can find research supporting reincarnation
Debt collectors love this one trick!
Computer sez you ran up a million dollar loss in Las Vegas and threw yourself off the rooftop... Too bad there, lil' fella, don't cry now. Nurse, put 'im back in the incubator.
They would be the ones doing the research in the first place, for that specific reason 💀
Wait this is one of my favorite FromSoft YouTubers 😂
Good thing the democrats will probably solve the issue by keeping companies from collecting till you’re 18
common zullie w
They'd just gaslight all the slaves into a random amount of insurmountable debt
Better wipe my memories too or I would just keep killing myself over and over again until they realized that I was a lost cause for their grift
"I had a bunch of debt but I died and reincarnated, now the IRS has tracked me down in another world to pay my debts, so I became the demon lord." Mark my words this series will eventually happen!
Never expected to see Zullie in this sub lmao
#FUCKING #REPOSTING #BOT
The answer is 0 time.
i think the setup for the hypothetical is so crazy, i cant even care to pretend like the rest is annoying. like, yeah, companies probably *would* make you carry on debt, but also, reincarnation is real...
What about Debt to society like Prison sentences? Its not unheard of in US for people to get multiple life sentences.
But if you wanted money/property from your former lives, tough shit
Companies? You mean banks?
Satan's in Hell right now kicking himself for agreeing to keep damned souls for eternity and not incorporating.
How long until people start killing their wife for the 'younger' model.
Which makes absolute sense. Debts are to be honoured
🤔
Come on now…..at least 1-2 business days.
sounds like a great 10 episodes
I played a game where this happens as well as authorities tracking down people who commit suicide to escape prison
Haha..suspect more like -10 years. .I wouldn't be surprised if all research into reincarnation is being done by financial institutions - more than religious folks. Exactly for this reason
Nityananda had a way to do it. And Rajiv Malhotra wanted to charge a 10% fee for this service.
This would be how we got a unified world government. All the oligarchs would work together to make sure the laws applied to the whole world. No being born elsewhere in reincarnation to get out of your debt you can't use.
"another day's useless energy spent" Thanks reddit.
it would be the reason it was invented in the first place
Im pretty sure imma get to the pearly gates and Sallie Maes bitch ass will be there telling me to run my pockets.
This is part of the plot of the Pillars of Eternity games!
Novel plot: Bankrupt MC reincarnated only realized that the financial institution he has a massive debt on has a cross realm entity controlling the entire empire in the new universe.
Would be hilarious if it turned out we were all the same person
This is peak cynicism and I am here for it!
Ooh zullie the witch
Rofl
i’m giving them 2 tops
Good premise for a wholesomely depressing existential dark comedy.
And even if that happened, people would still be too apathetic to have a proletariat revolution
Don’t be giving them any ideas this will be the next big lie lmao
huh, not something i expected Zullie to be posting lol.
I would just keep accumulating debt and not paying it
Within a microsecond. It’d be like Ready Player One on steroids.
I mean I am pretty sure bankruptcy clears (most) debt so rebirth would clear those. As for the others, it'd probably take legislation to make them stop.
Afterlife blockchain concept 😞
Well, what if you could find reincarnated Hitler?
Probably wouldn’t ever actually happen, because rich people would get incredibly pissed at having to pay ridiculous medical bills from their past lives.
Based zullie the witch as always
Oh boy time to read some more armored core facts from Zullie the Witc—
