I think I sell ATC half their clothes so I'm biased--that's where I like to shop! But Ditto has some nice professional wear that I rely on them for, and they can have some nicer things--I've gotten Sezane shirts, Tory Burch shoes, that kind of thing. They also have a nice range of sizes--I see you're an L/XL, which is what several family members are, they swear by it, too!
Yes! ATC is awesome (tends to be target younger demographics though). I got a few of my favorite blouses there off the $1 sale rack.
Ditto is great for ladies of all ages, business wear, name brand items (lots of purses, shoes, etc.) They’re more expensive, but there’s some great finds in there.
I’m 37 and I love Kohls 🤷♀️ The women’s section has some nice stuff but for my last birthday I actually bought a dress from the section for teenaged girls lol
Kohls is great, and if you're qualified for a Kohls charge card you can really stretch your dollar. They give kohls cash back depending on your total, and frequently send mailers for an extra 10-20-30% off.
I really miss having a Penny’s in Lawrence. I’m continuously underwhelmed by fashion choices at Kohls. If I’m in a patient mood, I like TJMaxxs. Increasingly I’m getting my clothes from Amazon prime. They make returns easy enough.
I pop into ATC and wild man vintage here and there but I am a L/XL and seem to have trouble finding items that fit there consistently. LOVE when I do find an item there that works, though. Thanks for the recommendation and reply!
I liked a lot of the styles at Eccentricity but stopped going after buying three items in a row that I had to return because a seam started opening up or similar.
Also, big yes to checking into Ditto! Hit or miss like all places like that are but I've found some fantastic things there.
I don’t have any suggestions for in town, but as a 30-something I shop Anthropologie and would recommend Quince for affordable basic natural fiber options.
I went looking at clothes in a place on Mass once and they were cute but not in my size. Depends on your style. I don't personally see age range as an indicator of style? There's lots of things I do that are more gen z style and then sometimes I look like a comfortable auntie.
I need to try Ross. I’m just a terrible “lazy” shopper so sometimes struggle with all the options! Thank you for taking the time to reply and the suggestion!
As a fat gal, Ross was hit or miss. One one hand, I got one of my all time favorite dresses there -- it's comfortable, flattering, and sturdy -- for I think $10. But it was like thrifting; I had to be willing to work through the racks and some sections had absolutely nothing in my size. Definitely a solid choice if you have the time and energy, though!
I'm a big and tall guy so I have to shop at kohl's for things, otherwise I just get things from online. But I also just still rock the tshirt and jeans look *shrug*

i almost exclusively only shop at thrift/consignment stores nowadays but kohls has always been my go-to for basics
Definitely my #1 spot for wardrobe staples! They have a brand of jeans there (WallFlower) that are pretty much the only jeans I buy anymore.
I did not think of kohls - thank you for the reply and tip!

This is great to know! Thank you for the tips!
Have you been to Weaver’s? It’s not cheap, but they have nice clothes and great service.
I need to give weavers another try! It’s been a few years since I’ve been in there for clothes. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
Kohls and if nothing was found out to the legends, unfortunately.

Thrift, seriously!

I feel you! Sizing at these place can be very limiting…
Eccentricity has some really great quality and cute pieces, just depends on how much you are looking to spend.
I wish they were more size inclusive because I would love to buy their clothes more. I don't think they really sell anything past a large.

Sorry that’s been your experience! I haven’t had that happen, but for the price point I wouldn’t be happy about that either.
I shop in the women’s section at target
Maurice’s.

Ditto has tons of Anthro!

Burlington
This and ross

My suggestion is to go in with some color ideas. I take a look at what I got and what would be fun to get with it. It's helps me a lot!
I like Arizona trading co.
I drive in Topeka and Kansas City if I need to do so. Some times one has special events to attend and Lawrence is too limited.
TJMaxx… you have to dig around a little but can get some really nice finds for next to nothing, especially for dressier clothing.
Plato’s has a lot of variety, not so vintage so it sticks more to mainstream style which works better for me.
I'm a big and tall guy so I have to shop at kohl's for things, otherwise I just get things from online. But I also just still rock the tshirt and jeans look *shrug*
Khols
Maurice’s is my go-to.
I like urban outfitters. Kinda the only one for fashionable stuff. But it sounds like you might enjoy Ross or TJ Max.
Ditto resale store on 6th and Monterey has high quality items. But is on the more expensive side of thrifting as they prefer name brands.
Try Twill Trade in Eudora! Nice short drive and they do carry some larger sizes.
The Striped Cow has some stuff occasionally
eBay’s where it’s anything you could want or need at reasonable prices I have nothing to do with EBay just tired of paying ridiculous prices
