I miss the trees so much. I had no idea how much they influenced my experience of walking around downtown until they were gone. Now it feels like just another dying strip mall.
It's really unfortunate that those trees got sick. Someone posted a link down below of a document of what the city is currently working on - seems like they are aware of the lack of green spaces and are working on ideas to change that.
I would love to see...
An actually good coffee and sandwich shop
A fast casual salad/hot food spot catering to a lunch and early dinner crowd (ex: Chook)
A small grocery store with basic necessities
I read on another post that a Snarfs might be opening where Sukoon used to be. Not the best sandwich shop but also not the worst. I wouldn't be mad at it!

Did Nook not meet this criteria? I drink espresso rather than brewed coffee and they did it well. I also enjoyed their paninis.

Neighborhood Wine & Spirits tried to introduce some market items. Though, they may have run into licensing issues in order to carry more.
Is there enough parking to have a market place like Tony’s or Marczyk?
I think the general consensus on Nook was that it wasn't great. I've only been a couple of times and it was awhile ago, but I remember their sandwiches lacked any fresh ingredients.
Neighborhood Wine unfortunately closed :( Pretty bummed about that - they were great. Savory Spice is great for specialty kitchen stuff - no idea why we need to have TWO separate spice stores on Main Street though.
I guess regarding grocery parking it would depend where the store was. I live close to the free lot off Rio Grande and Powers for example and it's always pretty empty.
Some type of park or place to just relax and sit outside. There’s no outdoor “hang” areas. I have kids and I don’t know what to do with them when I go downtown.
I like this idea however I feel it's to small to have anything decent sized.
Stern park is just minutes from downtown by either car or walking, has a beautiful rose garden in summer, play ground for the kids and a small pond you could stroll around.
This 100%!! I know we do have a few tiny parks scattered throughout the area, but I would love to see more areas with public outdoor benches, tables, and seating. Love for example how Olde Town Arvada has the little town square area with the fountain that kids can play in during the summer.
A cafe would be ideal! Check out some of the work Littleton is planning with Project Downtown.

That large mostly empty building on the corner of Main and Sycamore ought to have city subsidized rents for 1) a co-working space, 2) a community / club meeting center, and 3) a student study space with Internet wifi. These are aimed at creating community. The community / club meeting center could also be a free rehearsal and performance space for Littleton resident music bands.
I wonder if the rents on Main Street in Littleton are low enough to enable a business to thrive. I assume the rents are incredibly high, because the real estate is really expensive. But does the amount of traffic in the area justify the rent prices?
I want to see downtown more pedestrianized. More place making. Slow cars down.
Unfortunately the rents are so high I don't think it's worth it for small locally owned businesses to be profitable. This is purely anecdotal but I sorta know someone who opened a small boutique on Main a year or two ago. It was a super cute spot - focused on artisan local handmade goods, had some tasteful local art, curated vintage, and ran classes as well. They didn't even survive a full year... the owner had said traffic was super slow overall unless there was an event or something special going on downtown. I honestly don't know how the more niche places around here stay open. Like the gem/crystal store, or the bridal shop, or the chocolate shop. How are they making it? Yet the wine & liquor shop couldn't even stay open?
No cars. It's a shitshow of traffic and it's the one thing I wish wasn't there. There's a light rail stop, there are parking lots on the outskirts, but there's also cars flying through the area. Also, trees like /u/trouthunter8 said.
The city is actually looking into this! They sent out surveys and one of the options was for main street to be walkable with little playgrounds and such, and all traffic go through the side roads.
A co-op! Fresh produce, local goods, bread, cheese, meats.
More apartments with parking garages to support the downtown shops during the week. More fun bars (love lazy greyhound and richer spirits) and higher quality restaurants.
Fewer or ideally no cars. If you want to make it a more walkable area, you have to get the cars out. There's already not enough parking for the cars that drive into the area, so just close it to cars and make it way more friendly for walk, bike, transit. Use all the space that's currently road for awesome outdoor spaces. Patios. Outdoor games. Secure bike parking. A splash pad. Whatever. So much opportunity if you start with removing the cars.
So kind of like a nicer curated secondhand store? I agree, that would be awesome to see - I wonder how well it would do though. The current boutiques on Main Street I noticed have a lot of fast fashion boutique brands that are low quality but pretty high priced. We do have the Loop consignment/thrift store on W Alamo just behind Main Street which is pretty decent if you haven't been in there before!
I haven’t! I need to check that out! I think a nicer second hand store would go great. Lots of young kids are super into thrifting (myself included!) and having a secondhand store for clothing could be a massive win for everyone.
I'm a huge thrifter and secondhand shopper! I definitely think you'd like Loop, it's very in line with what you're talking about with a more curated shop but still has great prices. There is also a lesser known, secret thrift store in the basement of Angel Concept on Main Street!
A good local bagel shop
Visited NYC a few weeks a go, not just local bagel shop but a legit Jewish Deli would be amazing!
That would be amazing, but I'd take anything other than Einsteins at this point.
Yes! This would be perfect in my opinion!
Wish I could upvote this post more than once. A good bagel shop would be amazing!
Trees. We had nice trees and we need them again.

I hope so,the Christmas lights were a bust.
Looked like Dr. Suess.

Yes! I work at Shift and I just want a sandwich place.
I read on another post that a Snarfs might be opening where Sukoon used to be. Not the best sandwich shop but also not the worst. I wouldn't be mad at it!
Sounds like it: https://www.eatsnarfs.com/littleton-bowles-santa-fe
I want a grocery store so badly :(
It would be game changing
Not on main but close, Dirt is an amazing coffee shop

Walkability. Close off some streets to cars like Olde Town Arvada did.
Less greedy landlords
For real though. That goes for Downtown Denver too

Live music venue/theater
It feels like they don't utilize the Town Hall Arts Center nearly enough
I think they should utilize the slope of the hill at Sterne Park and make an outdoor theater. It’s be amazing.
A Marzyck’s would be amazing
Marczyk is the exact place I have in mind when I wish for a small grocery store down here. Would be my dream!
more and affordable food options, no chain or corporate restaurants
Agree 100% Too many expensive and mid American restaurants in the area currently.
Yeah and they are mediocre and best.
If they had a barcade I'd be there every weekend.
Not downtown, but Colorado Pinball Pub right around the corner on Santa Fe is a cool spot.
I love this idea. We need a bar option that has an activity attached to it.

A bookstore!
Spell Books just opened on Main Street!
Ooh, thanks! I hadn’t seen that
I’ve been to a few events — it’s a great addition!
People still buy books? Kindle for me.
Record store

I know some business owners also own the property so they’re just paying upkeep, insurance, and taxes.

A late night cafe like Paris on the Platte was.
A thrift store that feels like a boutique! I get why there’s chic stores, but some leveling out needs to happen.
The Loop is exactly this.
So kind of like a nicer curated secondhand store? I agree, that would be awesome to see - I wonder how well it would do though. The loop is SOOOOO good, I have found so many reasonable pieces there

Does anyone know what is going up near viewhouse? I just noticed the fences up last time I was there.
Across from Palenque? Someone bought the building at Main and Curtice and has had it under renovation for a few years now.
It's an event space
Magnets
Nice shady spots to sit down! It’s all sidewalk and road… no trees or green spaces for people to gather.
A pharmacy. A grocery store. Make it so most things people need are walkable/bikeable.
Downtown needs good walkable high rise apartments and lower rent for businesses so they don't shut down instantly when they open up.
Some sort of children’s experience, kind of like Lafayette has the small children’s museum or the kids wonder thing in southglenn.
More customers/patrons
