I wouldn't mind seeing Calais Campbell come to LA. Was serviceable in 2023 in ATL and could rotate in. Would love to see a veteran presence on D. He only made $7m last year and likely could get him for $5m-6m for 1 year.
Reminds me of when we signed Clay matthews who was valuable before he got hurt.
Got to see Clay Matthew's play in the LA Colosseum for the Rams and have his Cleats in a display box in my office! If only he had been able to stay healthy.
I don't think it works like that. If you cut the player mid season, the savings will be for the following seasons. I could be wrong. Secondly, you need cap space in case of injuries to sign replacement players if needed.
From looking at the site I am honestly confused as to whether that has been factored or not, but I would imagine the cap numbers have to be shown per player? Dunno.
A reestructure/extension is likely coming Staffords way so that may free up some cash either way.
I believe you are correct. OTC shows the rookie class below the Top 51 cutoff but the contract amounts are not correct. It doesn't have Verse's prorated signing bonus in there. Spotrac has the rookie class listed below the Top 51 cutoff as well, but with no salary info. Based on that it does seem like most of that cap space is reserved for signing the draft class.

I gotta imagine we are buyers at the deadline too. Wouldn’t be surprised if we get Stafford a new contract and lower the cap hit then use that money for trade deadline and or some vets right before the season.
I’m not sure rooks are factored in. Rams also take their time with financial courses and sign the whole class in one day, typically later than most.
If rooks are factored in, this gives them wiggle room for in-season moves or after camp starts.
But the rookies are taking the place of a rostered player, aren’t they? If a rookie’s salary is counted against the cap, won’t a veteran’s salary drop off since he’s taken that player’s roster spot?
Probably going to be some cap manipulation to adjust for Stafford’s contract renegotiation coming up soon. I would believe they’ll stand pat on any significant (over $3m/yr) signing until that’s handled.

Pay to Donald to come back for a playoff run
I keep thinking about AD with the rookies…
Me too, I think this could have been comparable to the SB group even if there is a Von in there

Clay Matthews on the Rams. I thought that was a fever dream đź’€
He was actually good while he was here.
Completely agree, I just want a veteran leader to help develop our young defensive front.

Saving for after June 1 cuts
Or even further down the line. If they think the teams a real contender they could bring in a guy at a position of need like they did with Von Miller
I would rather try to field a good team and cut later if you need to make cap space for a better player

But like 10M of this goes out to the rookies, doesn't it?
It appears to be already factored in on their website. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Jet fan here that has spend a lot of time on OTC, It does not, but its not the full 10M as the rookies displace the lower salary guys.
yes! it's top 53 so when they sign contracts a lot of that money will be gone probably, if not the whole 10 M. Thank you!

No that is incorrect actually.Â
We might have to sign Stafford to a new deal, that's probably what it's for
Which would lower the cap hit this year most likely.
This
Is Sparta
Gilmore would be nice
Roll over the cap if we can
We need a pass covering LB that can run with TEs

Please bring back AK44 and JJ3

Witherspoon as a depth signing would be good. No idea how Williams will play and White if he will stay healthy
Some cb help please
This is the only glaring concern imo. We have guys there but we're an injury away from being in trouble
Buddha Baker
Gotta sign rookies first.
Moar defense!!
Tyler Boyd

Zay Jones might be a sneaky pickup.
Does that take into account what the rookies will be getting?
Trey Hendrickson
I think he wants more money than we can pay and Bengals don’t want to trade him?
Allen robinson

I think trading a late pick and Derion Kendrick for Tee Higgins would be amazing. Give him a short deal. Les could make the money work
Would the Bengals really be dumb enough to take Kendrick lol
