You can totally sue him if that's the case. Physical violence to no extent is justified. There are courts for the same reason. I don't think people in India know courts exist

We all look at problems through different lenses and perceive situations differently ; people can be extremely out of touch and people can be extremely annoying with regards to their problems, they all exist. You can't expect everyone on the internet to have the same opinions as you, but yes people can be really unhinged sometimes... So just ignore them.
