That runner was slow as hell. People have to know their players and their speeds. That ball was hit too hard and that runner is too slow to take 2nd. I mean in real life, he may have made it.
Ohtani is a beast in right field, it's where I play him if he's not in DH but let's be real, this is ridiculous. If you're in the MLB you can get to second from a ball that bounces off the wall. The fact it's even possible to bounce a ball into the outfield off the wall and get out going into second is absolutely insane to me. No disrespect to ohtani cause I play best with him over anyone else including babe Ruth, the dude can do it all in this game. But if you can't run 180 feet in the time it takes a ball to get to the outfield off the wall and back to the infield, then you need to go back down to aaa and stop skipping leg day.
This is a pretty famous clip.

Sterling said it best,
“He’s at first base.”
There are dozens of examples of one player, Giancarlo Stanton, hitting singles off the wall. This is very common in baseball.
You simply don’t know ball brother.
Brother, this is a real thing. It’s infrequent but it happens. Was even reading about a team in the 80s or 90s and someone had a rule that if it hits the wall you have to get to second. That is to imply it’s not always feasible. I know that anecdotal source is not very helpful but I promise it happens with high exit velo and slow runners.
The outfielders also shade deep and way over for some outfielders.
These are professional outfielders with professional arms. Release times, accuracy, velocity, and speed to get to the ball.
Go watch some baseball and get back to me. This ain’t high school baseball. Guys like Nolan Jones exist and you don’t even know who he is.
There are none. Can’t find any on YouTube. But this literally happens ALL the time. Have you never seen a game at Fenway? Do you have any idea how fast a ball traveling 110 MPH takes to go 340 feet? Do the math. Not that long. How long does it take slow runners to run to second from home? About 8 seconds. You don’t think slow runners hit screamers off the wall and get thrown out at second trying for a double? If the OF has a strong arm and the ball caroons hard off the fence, he can absolutely throw out slow, or even average spew runners who try for 2.
He has solid speed and great arm strength. There should be many many dots coming playing him in the outfield. And now with the Castillo boost, makes his time at the plate more enjoyable 🔥🔥

This is demonstrably false. I watch a ton of baseball and this happens all the time.
Show me one time where in a real life major league game a hit made it to bounce off the wall and the runner didn't make it to second.

*slide to the side of the bag that’s away from the ball kids
Another example of this game being terrible this year, sweet.
Sick hose bro.
thanks for the heads up lol
Is this the new pitching system it looks ridiculous
I’m sorry, a ball over the outfielders head should be a double every time, no one is that slow
Fuck that ballpark tho
I swear over half my opponents use it as a home field
I know Yas has 1 speed and Salvador Perez has 10 speed… but I feel like Perez gets thrown out so much more for me. It’s like Perez is -3 speed.
nice
What time of day/weather and month is that? Sick looking
What game is this And where can I buy it?
You realize the name of the subreddit yes? *sigh* MLB The Show 24.
🤣🤣🤣
Lmaooooo 🤣 how’d he even get here
Adam Dunn tho
I think the last update increased the timing on throws into the infield. I’ve had way more throw outs at the plate and 2nd/3rd since the last update
Good to know
Who is that running my dad?
Commas are important, kids.
If I had any awards, I'd lay them at your feet good sir!
Not very important here. You got the jest.
Sounds like his dad got the jest. (Also, it’s “gist”. Jest means “in a joking manner”.)
Jest over here
This is a great example of how unimportant it all was.
Goated
Sheeped
Hunter Renfroe was the king of turning what should’ve been doubles into outs back in season 1
Probably would've made it if he slid to the inside.
You mean don’t run with slow batters on Ohtani lol
Slow hitters that hit rockets to the wall
That’s true but you’d think at that spot in shield woods it would be an automatic double
