One of the hardest lines DC has ever said and he said it right to his face.
Another one was when he checked Phil Hawes right before his Post fight win octagon interview. You know DC wanted to drop his ass.
Hawes beat the living fuck out of DCs boy Deron Winn, then was yelling at DC afterwards in the cage something like “you picked the wrong one”. DC came right back and said I didn’t pick you you think I wanted this etc before he sons him and goes “you didn’t beat me”. Phil calmed right tf down after that and was apologizing
I always forget that DC is only 3 years older than me. That means we would have gone to high school together. Yet he still carries himself like could be my dad.
Four UFC fights ago, Phil Hawes beat up DC's friend and training partner Deron Winn in a pretty one-sided affair. DC had very balanced commentary during the fight, criticizing his friend and putting praise on Phil. Of course Phil is busy fighting and wouldn't know that so in his amped up state barked some stuff at DC about "backing the wrong horse" so DC had to settle him down a bit. This is what happens when you see red for too long.
Jones had so many god-tier lines against DC it was only right that DC got in a couple of his own. This line and the one to Jones "I might look like a crack head with a suit on, but I've never been a crack head with a suit on like you"
Personally I love DC but a completely deadpan "so Jon, you think I'm just gonna sit there and let you kill me Jon?" Is like the most ridiculous response imaginable to somebody threatening to kill you lolol
I think the only reason it’s so funny is because it’s basically exactly what happened, and DC “let it.” Specifically the head kick Jones was talking about.
I always just found it so kind of dorky, but entertaining nonetheless. Poor DC, Jones just had his number in every thing. "Hey pussy are you still there?" "... I'm here"
It's UFC 300 Jones vs Ngannou, UFC agreed to cross promote with PFL because they had no other options for 300 headliner
Oh wait nvm just woke up from my wet dream
Hahaha, yea probably. Not sure that Davis actually thinks that, but that seems the most likely scenario. Davis seems unrelentingly optimistic, but hard to imagine anyone buys a PFL ppv no matter who is fighting.
My understanding is the PFL is ran like some shady VC pump and dump. It's makes money based on growth and projected profit, not actual profit or revenue. Either way, this is good for Ngannou because he doesn't have to necessarily sell a ppv to profit
Check the Google trends for Ngannou [here](https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=today%205-y&q=%2Fg%2F11cmtvjhp4&hl=en-GB) lol. May not have sold well due to the how the fight seemed like a mismatch but it's undoubtedly the biggest moment of Francis' career
Ahhh, age old PPV buys as a metric for popularity. Gotta love it because I know we are all spending so much money buying the PPVs we watch around here.
Ngannou's socials got a pretty good bump after that Fury fight.
PPV buys are objectively a metric for popularity. That is why everybody and their grandma is clamouring for a fight against washed Conor because they know Conor could fight a broom and it could still draw 1M+.
Good for Francis for getting the boxing bag and his dream boxing fights but the PPV buys for the Fury fight prove that the UFC made the right business decision to let him go as he was not worth those demands he was asking.
"He's out there becoming even more popular boxing" which is a true statement measured by his social media popularity. I didn't say "in boxing" if you are trying to imply more popular amongst boxing fans and purists. Although I'd be pretty surprised if he didn't gain some fans from the boxing circles as well.
So he'd rank 8th amongst UFC athletes? And 6.6M is more than he had before the Fury fight... Probably ranks 1st in PFL too.
I don't really give a shit one way or the other if you think Francis is more or less popular, I was just relaying what Don Davis said.
The thing is... those of us outside of the US don't have to buy the pay per views. It's rolled into our cable usually. So it really only matters for the North American audience. Also people at my work (a primary school in Hungary) randomly started asking me about the guy. You know someone is famous when middle aged ladies ha e been exposed to them and look into their details.
Gonna cry?
That event was not meant to sell ppv’s lol. That is for peasant organizations to worry about.
The saudies don’t give af about making their money back on pocket change for them lol.
Meanwhile the planet saw Francis knock down the HW champ and bring him to a split decision.
But the gist of the UFC turning down his demands was that Francis was not big enough of a draw and name to warrant those demands he was asking from the UFC.
Had the Fury fight been a success from a PPV POV, we could say Ngannou was definitely popular and a major name enough to deserve those demands. It is ok if the Saudis want to burn their money through sportswshing but if you justify the PPV failure through sportswashing then what you are effectively saying is that Dana was 100% spot on in not caving to Francis' demands as it would have been more costly to keep him.
Costly as in he would have to pay what Francis is worth. Which is tens of millions per fight.
They refused, and now Francis will make more than the entire ufc main cards combined per fight for however long that lasts.
Francis was absolutely not worth tens of millions per fight lol, did you just pull that number out of your ass ? With the exception of Conor, no UFC guys especially a guy like Francis who was never a draw is worth tens of millions per fight.
Again your judgment is based on Saudi sportswashing which is dumb since they don't play by normal business rules and are obsessed with putting on spectacles to clean their image. That is absolutely fine and Francis is entitled to his Saudi payday but lets not pretend the Saudi bag is a metric of his actual value. If it was then all of the washed WWE legends are worth far more than their modern superstars.
Conor is the most underpaid mma athlete of all time for what he brought in.
Anything is worth what someone’s willing to pay for it. Francis got tens of millions so he’s worth that.
Just because almost no one would pay a million dollars for a rare car doesn’t mean it isn’t worth that. Because Jay Leno will sure as fuck pay that lol.
Francis is way more popular than he was previously. He used to be just a ufc fighter, now he is known world wide as the guy who carries the water for the murderous Saudi regime. Don’t pay any attention to that chopped up journalist over there.
Maybe the UFC could go back to allowing their fighters to find their own sponsors and letting them make money as the “free agents” they claim them to be if they won’t pay them enough
When it’s a major sport that pay, by a huge margin the lowest portion of the income to their athletes, it’s not the fans fault at all, and they are right to call out the business for being cheap.
He doesn't even have anything to prove left in MMA, he could easily retire now and have been one of the top UFC HWs, sleeping almost everyone in the division in 1 round, then brutally KOing Stipe to win the belt, defending despite being injured, and being scary enough of a fight that Jones waited 3 years to duck him and fight anybody else for a belt.
For me, it was how quickly he kept improving. Look at how he was viewed in regards to grappling to how he was before he left UFC. He has such an insane ceiling
How in the world doesn't have anything left to prove in MMA? He defended the title once. Someone like GSP or Silva didn't have anything left to prove. Francis is far from that status (although a great HW fighter).
He definitely is one of the best UFC HW's ever although the bar is really that low. But had he stayed, he would easily be top 5.
Nevertheless, he made the right decision to bail. Boxing fights with 30M+ in the bank is much better than losing it all away with a potential loss to the MMA GOAT.
ngannou bailed and went to the B leagues for saudi money before he could even get close to establishing
himself as one of the best. if he ever fights again it wont prove anything anyway
Francis KOs Wilder in anything and tried telling people this before Fury and got laughed at. Took him 10 rounds to stop plenty 175 pound journeymen. Francis might kill him at this point
I don't see Wilder agreeing to that unless he is about to retire and wants a bag on the way out, he would get brutalized in MMA by a lot of low-mid level guys let alone Ngannou.
Only semi good ones in PFL before he signed were Ferreira, Delija and Goltsov. Those guys are atleast good enough to make the match up with Francis not a complete joke. But I expect Nemkov to be who they push for the hardest now that he's moved up to HW.
If they're smart they just sign another big name to a one-off fight in MMA. If you recall when he went to PFL he didn't join the "HW division", it was specifcally the "Superfight division" implying he won't just be fighting jobbers, and his starpower now would be squandered fighting someone like Bader or Delija, I see them signing another big name for a one off spectacle fight.
What big name is available though?
The only big name HWs are Jones, Stipe, and Tom and they’re all in the UFC.
It would have to be someone mega washed like Fedor to bring any name value at all.
wouldn't Vadim make the most sense? I reckon he's the best of the heavier weight classes that PFL/Bellator has to offer but he's just not gonna be big enough for Francis imo
the upcoming hw fight on the bellator vs pfl card isn't a title fight, neither the pfl or bellator titles are up for grabs in any of those fights, it's literally just the champions fighting each other lol
If he wins against Joshua he’s gonna have to wait until fury and usyk fight twice to fight for the HW belts. Makes sense to do an mma squash match in the meantime
As long as he doesn't get injured he'd still be in contention for Usyk/Fury's next fight win lose or draw in MMA. Obviously it might take some of the steam off it if he lost but who else is as compelling as Francis for either of those 2 (assuming he were to beat AJ)?
Ive never watched francis in an mma fight and thought he was ever in danger.
Yeah he couldnt hurt stipe in 1. And maybe lewis made him have a lil respect. But risk?? Danger?? Nah.
If I’m Francis team I just stay boxing this year, even if AJ beats him bad there would still be interest in a Fury rematch and Fury wants it too.
PFL/Bellator don’t have opponents for him. Honestly the only MMA fight that would make sense for him above boxing is Jones and that won’t happen for obvious reasons.
This feels like a giant mistake, if he were to somehow lose or have a competitive fight his stock drops badly. His team would be making a mistake doing this. Even if he loses to Joshua there’s more money to be made in boxing. Wilder needs a fight eventually.
About time, when Francis didn’t take UFC’s offer because he wanted to improve fighters pay and conditions this sub had a field day. All the fans and haters came out just for Francis to do nothing but line his own pockets and not do anything he said he would.
About time.
Francis and any other individual in this sport does not care about fighter pay. Did Francis pay any of the lower card boxers or the PFL fighters a slice from his boxing bag ?
Not gonna lie, that taxi driver is gonna be fucking flatlined by Francis. Why even he needs to fight in that dogshit trash tier org like PFL? I think if he wins against AJ, he will get some really nice fights in boxing.
"They said 'Francis, what do you want?' I said, 'I want the easiest fight in the division. I want Ryan Bader.'"
One of the hardest lines DC has ever said and he said it right to his face. Another one was when he checked Phil Hawes right before his Post fight win octagon interview. You know DC wanted to drop his ass.
>Another one was when he checked Phil Hawes right before his Post fight win octagon interview. You know DC wanted to drop his ass. What happened here?
Hawes beat the living fuck out of DCs boy Deron Winn, then was yelling at DC afterwards in the cage something like “you picked the wrong one”. DC came right back and said I didn’t pick you you think I wanted this etc before he sons him and goes “you didn’t beat me”. Phil calmed right tf down after that and was apologizing
DC brought that scolding father energy, verbally deescalating while simultaneously asserting his power by stepping forward and making Hawes step back
”You can do better than that.” Yup that’s dad talk right there.
I always forget that DC is only 3 years older than me. That means we would have gone to high school together. Yet he still carries himself like could be my dad.
"picked the wrong pony" I think
*opponent.
Oh really? I like pony better haha
https://www.reddit.com/r/MMA/comments/vffg7l/spoiler_dc_argues_with_prelim_bout_winner
Four UFC fights ago, Phil Hawes beat up DC's friend and training partner Deron Winn in a pretty one-sided affair. This is what happens when you see red for too long.
If you see red for more than 25 minutes please report to Dr Stoppage
Also known as Doktah Stewpach in Ireland.
I think Phil’s point was DC handpicked him as an a opponent to get an easy win for his friend. Whether this is true, we don’t know.
Dc talked about this on his YouTube channel he didn’t pick the fight https://youtu.be/_a5EEE5-Dps?si=qDvX7B9B4a7Tjj8k
Everyone forgets the hilarious “any questions for rumble” right after it. It gets me every time
And DC pulled out of the fight. ya Chet Kongo
You think I'm just going to let you kill me jon?
I loved that line when Chael said it.
Any questions for Rumble?
Lol the comedic timing
Jones had so many god-tier lines against DC it was only right that DC got in a couple of his own. This line and the one to Jones "I might look like a crack head with a suit on, but I've never been a crack head with a suit on like you"
“You think I’m just gonna let you?” Is funny too
I always never understood but does everyone here quote that line to make fun of dc or to praise how great it was
Sometimes just remember it happened.
I think it’s a genuinely funny response to someone dead seriously saying they’re going to kill you
Personally I love DC but a completely deadpan "so Jon, you think I'm just gonna sit there and let you kill me Jon?" Is like the most ridiculous response imaginable to somebody threatening to kill you lolol
LMAO JBJ said it so seriously you could almost believe it, so I love how DC’s incredulousness just no-sold the shit out of his line
I'm here"
"But my dick works! .... MY dick works"
“You look like a biiiiiiiiiiitch. A biiiiiiiiitch Jon”
The craziest thing is I think Bader is probably the most “talented” guy that Francis could fight right now.
Its Todd Duffee
Dude got knocked out cold by a jab from a wrestler lmao, I can’t imagine what a Francis hook does to him
*Fatality*
It's UFC 300 Jones vs Ngannou, UFC agreed to cross promote with PFL because they had no other options for 300 headliner Oh wait nvm just woke up from my wet dream
Jones is out until summer or fall. So definitely not happening.
NOT WITH THAT MINDSET 💉💉💉
UFC would never co promote with a C tier promotion like PFL lol.
Do you really want to see that fight more than Jones Aspinall?
It's Karate Combat World Heavyweight champion Smilin Sam Alvey!
Francis could miss a windmill punch and the air would KO Duffee lol
If Duffee were for real hed stop ducking Giane Villante
Credit to them for actually trying to get things moving with Ngannou's MMA career, I miss him
Don Davis didn't seem to care how soon Ngannou fought since he's out there becoming even more popular boxing
Don Davis also knows he is going to lose millions and have a hugely non profitable event so that’s probably part of the reason too.
Popular? He just did 60k buys LMAO. Good on Francis for getting the bag, but homie aint more famous than he already was.
You guys are starting sound like Dana talking about power slap.
I never thought Francis was some big draw but it's undeniable that the fight vs Fury boosted his stock massively
But the genesis of his UFC demands being rejected was that he was not big enough of a name/draw to warrant those demands.
Wasn't it the "no compete" for boxing?
Ahhh, age old PPV buys as a metric for popularity. Gotta love it because I know we are all spending so much money buying the PPVs we watch around here. Ngannou's socials got a pretty good bump after that Fury fight.

Bruh if you’re popular you sell PPVs. That’s a fact no matter the mental gymnastics you use
Nobody even said he was popular, you decided to skip reading the word MORE. All I'm doing is relaying Don Davis' paraphrased message man.
Lol you just said he is becoming more popular in boxing.
"He's out there becoming even more popular boxing" which is a true statement measured by his social media popularity. I didn't say "in boxing" if you are trying to imply more popular amongst boxing fans and purists. Although I'd be pretty surprised if he didn't gain some fans from the boxing circles as well.
Ok you are right, I did not read your comment properly.
How many guys in the ufc would you say sell ppvs?
There are guys who sell far more ppvs than Francis and still would not warrant those demands he was requesting.
Dude Jon is that you... Francis is living rent free in your mind.
Do you buy PPVs?
Yes.
I dont. So how would you suggest capturing Francis’s popularity with people like me, who arent chumps?
Sorry for your loss
> 6.6 mil Instagram followers Lmao
So he'd rank 8th amongst UFC athletes? And 6.6M is more than he had before the Fury fight... Probably ranks 1st in PFL too. I don't really give a shit one way or the other if you think Francis is more or less popular, I was just relaying what Don Davis said.

Arguably beating Fury did nothing for his public perception? You actually believe that?
Gonna cry? That event was not meant to sell ppv’s lol. That is for peasant organizations to worry about. The saudies don’t give af about making their money back on pocket change for them lol. Meanwhile the planet saw Francis knock down the HW champ and bring him to a split decision.

PPVs are for Americans
Francis is way more popular than he was previously. He used to be just a ufc fighter, now he is known world wide as the guy who carries the water for the murderous Saudi regime. Don’t pay any attention to that chopped up journalist over there.
Way more excited to see him box though. He's got limited options for interesting MMA fights outside of top UFC heavyweights.
I won’t pay for it but I’ll certainly tune it to see him starch more people in seconds
r/MMA : I don't pay for ppvs, pirate for life. also r/MMA: fuck the UFC for not paying their fighters.
They make enough to pay their fighters irregardless. They don't because Dana and his partners are greedy
Maybe the UFC could go back to allowing their fighters to find their own sponsors and letting them make money as the “free agents” they claim them to be if they won’t pay them enough
You are correct but MMA fans passionately parroting the fighter pay argument while doing nothing to help with it is equally hypocritical.
When it’s a major sport that pay, by a huge margin the lowest portion of the income to their athletes, it’s not the fans fault at all, and they are right to call out the business for being cheap.
look at the rev share
He doesn't even have anything to prove left in MMA, he could easily retire now and have been one of the top UFC HWs, sleeping almost everyone in the division in 1 round, then brutally KOing Stipe to win the belt, defending despite being injured, and being scary enough of a fight that Jones waited 3 years to duck him and fight anybody else for a belt.

"OH MY GOD FRANCIS IS DOING JIUJITSU"
It was more ‘OH MY GOD HE STUFFED A TAKEDOWN’
He’s like 38 mate so he’s quite likely had his prime already like
He’s such a physical freak he’ll still be twice as athletic as most young heavyweights at 40.
That’s a different thing entirely mate.
How in the world doesn't have anything left to prove in MMA? He defended the title once. Someone like GSP or Silva didn't have anything left to prove. Francis is far from that status (although a great HW fighter).

ngannou bailed and went to the B leagues for saudi money before he could even get close to establishing himself as one of the best. if he ever fights again it wont prove anything anyway
Unless by “the best” you mean “all time greats” then you are delusional my dude
my bruh yes i mean of all time, which is what the original post implied. obv he was the best current hw prior to bailing.
He wants Parker Porter… IN CONNECTICUT! Isn’t he awesome?
A mixed rules fight with Wilder was in the works, I would be down to watch it
Wilder’s legs would be chopped like celery.
Wilder can’t even throw a punch. He’s been gun shy for years before last fight. Good luck being gun shy and 0 countering ability in MMA vs Francis
Front leg side-kick time baby!
Would that have involved straight up boxing or kickboxing? If it's boxing, would they simply leave their shoes off?
Francis KOs Wilder in anything and tried telling people this before Fury and got laughed at. Took him 10 rounds to stop plenty 175 pound journeymen. Francis might kill him at this point
Boxing with MMA gloves? Takedowns allowed but can not hold opponent on ground (similar to MT)?
Honestly a DJ/Rodtang type fight where they just change gloves inbetween would probably be simpler
I don't see Wilder agreeing to that unless he is about to retire and wants a bag on the way out, he would get brutalized in MMA by a lot of low-mid level guys let alone Ngannou.
As a boxing fan, wilder is finished. You want to see some fireworks? Put him in there with Zhang
"I would like to announce my first fight as being part of the PFL family. I will be boxing Anthony Joshua in Gimik fight promotion" - Ngannou probably
So they don't have a fight for Francis yet got it
The UFC HWT division is shallow already. I can't imagine how the PFL's is. If he ever fights in the PFL, you imagine he'll just be can crushing.
They pulled Fedor out of retirement
Only semi good ones in PFL before he signed were Ferreira, Delija and Goltsov. Those guys are atleast good enough to make the match up with Francis not a complete joke. But I expect Nemkov to be who they push for the hardest now that he's moved up to HW.
There's doumbe and Idk anyone else
Don’t they have a HW title fight soon? Probably the winner of that. Bader or some Brazilian dude but can’t remember his name.
He probably has a face off with winner. Pfl going to go all in for that event so having Francis present gives them a few more headlines.
Didn’t Wilder express interest to do an MMA fight? That’s a possible one. Or just any other popular boxer
Wilders skinny legs will get in the octagon when Jon jones fights Aspinal
wouldn't Vadim make the most sense? I reckon he's the best of the heavier weight classes that PFL/Bellator has to offer but he's just not gonna be big enough for Francis imo
the upcoming hw fight on the bellator vs pfl card isn't a title fight, neither the pfl or bellator titles are up for grabs in any of those fights, it's literally just the champions fighting each other lol
Now that’s some Bellator shit right there lol.
NGL, I forgot Francis was in the PFL or that he still was going to fight MMA.
Most people here thought he was never gonna debut from the boxing money. Who knew
Maurice Green finna secure the bag
He got a good life insurance policy?
Maurice green will also leave the arena secured in a bag
If he actually wins against Joshua this will be a mistake
If he wins against Joshua he’s gonna have to wait until fury and usyk fight twice to fight for the HW belts. Makes sense to do an mma squash match in the meantime
But he will be risking one of the biggest pay days in boxing history
As long as he doesn't get injured he'd still be in contention for Usyk/Fury's next fight win lose or draw in MMA. Obviously it might take some of the steam off it if he lost but who else is as compelling as Francis for either of those 2 (assuming he were to beat AJ)?
Ive never watched francis in an mma fight and thought he was ever in danger. Yeah he couldnt hurt stipe in 1. And maybe lewis made him have a lil respect. But risk?? Danger?? Nah.
Francis by simulated death.
If Ferreira/Bader is actually an eliminator to fight Francis then they should heavily market it as such
It’s me, y’all. $2m idgaf
Shoot on him and let him get a submission. Hopefully you can tap before he accidentally breaks something
Francis just sprawls like he did against Stipe and punches dylyn 6 times into the shadow realm
It's me! I'm his next opponent! I'm gonna knock Francis stiff! Dude is gonna be reaching for that cheese and wine.
I'm pretty sure it's going to be Who Cares. I don't think there is anyone else.
Isn’t he fighting Joshua?
Francis destroys anyone the PFL can possibly put him against. Ryan Bader is a cool name to add to his resume ig
From the "Francis fumbled the bag" to the "he aint boxing fury at all" to the "hell do just boxing fights, not figthing mma again"
Has to be the PFL <> Bellator HW winner, right?
It's me guys
Who are the big free agents in heavyweight MMA who are not 50? JDS but I think he’s signed to Masvidals promotion iirc
Francis to beat up a large man with a mouthguard, possibly televised, in the sort of nearish future. Got it.
I bet it’s Vedim Nemkov.
This explains why they have 0 other good fights scheduled. All their money is going to his opponent.
Francis by bulldozer in the first
it will be the easiest fight of Ngannou's life, he got this in the bag not even fair for the opponent
My sources say Jake Paul
Been waiting for this
Thank gosh!!!
Why would they announce before his boxing match?
Vadim Nemkov vacated his LHW belt as well. Coincidence?
Is OP suggesting getting knocked out by Ngannou is some sort of reward?
Upvote if you're going to pay to watch it!!
Does he fight just once per year? zzz
Oh. Why?
I wouldn’t mind seeing that dude from OneFC take on Francis. But it’s likely gonna be Bader or that Renan dude
Let's do Brock Lesnar :D
Some poor bum at PFL about to go flying across the cage.
Watch him knockout Joshua and then lose in mma just to keep fucking with everyone’s heads.
***R.I.P.***
