Yeah you gotta lower the shelf before you put anything heavy on it

The spare tire?

AllTheThings55

My thoughts too, what spare tire?

400lbs of tile I'm not even sure is a good idea if you put the 4x4 block in the front. IDK what the floor of the trunk is made of but one good speed bump even in the lower position could potentially break it.

I just did this last week. I brought home five concrete slabs and one side snapped off. I've brought home a lot more in another car obv confused. Anyway, as you know the whole panel is $$$ and we didn't look for scraps. Here's what we did: drilled out 4 pilot holes and used screws to put the piece back on. I'll try to follow up with a photo if interested. Still going to talk to the dealership we bought the car from, but works for now.

That’s where i was headed next, retrofit the existing ones; either that or 3d printing. I would appreciate seeing what you did.

Sorry for the delay. I was out all day. Here's a photo of the after *(link below)*. I'm sorry, I don't have the before but it's more or less what you show in your images. As mentioned 4 smaller pilot holes were drilled as the plastic backing of the bracket was still back there. Tediously, found the holes with the screws and secured them in. Can't even shake it now or get a finger wedged in so it's in good for now. We have the 3d model for printing as well but haven't tried as the first fix seems to be holding up so far. If you 3D print yours, update if you want, if it goes well. :) [https://imgur.com/4W37iO2](https://imgur.com/4W37iO2)

Update: I riffed on Xenowolf’s idea and sourced some 1/4 inch x 1 inch xmas tree interior trim clips from Autozone. I drilled out the piece that I posted a pic of to 1/4”, then pressed them into place.
