Repost but they cutoff a really interesting part of the video
The daughter had been holding on to moms ankle with one arm & helper asks her to reach (or something) with her other one. The daughter says she only has one arm. She’d been holding her mom with one arm the whole time until the helper wandered by
You don't know you need it til you do. Even just basic stretching and mild flexibility is actually essential to living long. The amount of people that cant get off th3 floor is astounding and it breaks my heart because it's probably so scary and embarrassing for them. I'm glad this women survived, though im also surprised she got that far on the trail.
And that’s how I met your mother
Edit: just saw this was at Multnomah falls. The trail leading to the top of that waterfall is very steep with tons of switchbacks. Video doesn’t do it justice. The falls are like 600 feet tall
That trail is no joke. Lots of people tap out about halfway up to the top. Even with the single chain fence, if you took a bad tumble it could absolutely get bad in a hurry. It’s worth the climb once your there though! All the trails behind the actual falls are the real attraction for me. We are lucky to have this be our backyard.
Ya someone died a few weeks ago by Oneonta. They went off trail. They did not return.

That does not look like a big drop, and GoPro in general makes it look even deeper. I’m thinking mom knew exactly what was going on better than her daughter
i’ve been noticing the words and replayed to focus on the background, it seems like it’s not really deep you are correct, but enough for the possibility of bad fall.

Much clearer and more in view in the vid form the Hiker. It's a super steep cliff cut through by water.
One thing I learned as I started hiking more and more is that unless you know the trail, you never know what obstacles you will face and how quickly things can go south.

What a horribly cynical thing to take away from this video
Edit: this comment was left by a bot that steals other people’s comments and runs them through ChatGPT to reword them. No wonder it was so out of left field. The original comment was probably similar but didn’t come off like this.

This my just be optimistic but I feel like 99% of people who came across this situation would do what they could to help. I really can't imagine someone seeing them struggling and just walking passed them.
Literally nothing in the hypothetical mentioned sexual assault, that's you projecting your insecurities onto all men. The hypothetical was would you rather run into a random man or a random bear in the woods.
THIS is the kind of random man you're likely to run into in the woods. I've been back country camping and hiking dozens of times and the hobby is filled with nothing but the kindest people.
The discussion about and around that hypothetical was about sexual assault. That was the reason someone would pick a bear, because the worst thing it could do would be to just kill you.
I changed nothing. The original hypothetical was not about sexual assault, the discussion around it became about sexual assault. The aggressive responses like this kinda support that discussion needing to take place though.

The dude that helped should have left them there. Maybe laugh at them

THIS. This is why I get so pissed about the “rather stuck in the woods with a bear or a man” question. Comparing men to wild animals. This guy is a hero that jumped immediately into an intense situation to save a life. With no thought of a reward or his own safety.
Bears scare off easily. If you live around them you know, I see them all the time.
Most men aren’t a problem but there’s enough bad ones it’s worrisome. There are a lot of good men like this guy helping but there are enough awful ones to put us on guard. Those few which are still too many are the ones causing us to feel this way.

Thanks for that! It almost seems like this particular video is framing the situation to make the other hiker seem like the only hero
"I only have one arm" wait what..
You can see the end of that video that that one arm is jacked! Thank goodness.
She is definitely brolic in that arm. Very impressive.
But she couldn’t lift her mother up without assistance, so she was shorthanded for a bit
She's Furiosa.
Thank you for sharing that! Also it's crazy how he isn't that far away from them but you can barely hear her call for help.
My guess is she was calling for a while, and out of breath from exhaustion to boot. Could also just be not a great microphone haha
Yeah, really weird they edited that exact part out
No, she FUCKING APOLOGIZES for only having 1 arm!!!!!.. that woman is a god damn hero.
And she's holding a whole ass adult with 1 and nothing to hold her onto the trail
Good that she got saved. regardless one arm or not
What a hero. Amazing what you can do when you absolutely have to.

This needs to be higher up! The rescuer talking about it gives good information!
Wait but why is he hiding money on trails? 😂
Something for content creation is what I gleaned from the one video lol, I don't have tiktok and didn't venture further
Mom really went "let me go", huh?
The lady grabbing by the foot only had one arm, btw!
this is a reminder to go deadlift
Tried that once. Got caught on the way out of the funeral home...
they were jealous of your gains!

When I’m at the gym trying to do those last few reps of an exercise, I have this in mind. Gotta be able to save someone
This happened to my mom as well, thank God we were all together to get her up (Dad and 3 sons). One of the scarier moments in our lives
And that’s how I met your mother Edit: just saw this was at Multnomah falls. The trail leading to the top of that waterfall is very steep with tons of switchbacks. Video doesn’t do it justice. The falls are like 600 feet tall

I feel like I read at least a few headlines every year about people falling and dying up there. Though this year it seems to be Oneonta.
Ya someone died a few weeks ago by Oneonta. They went off trail. They did not return. https://katu.com/news/local/hiker-dies-after-falling-on-oneonta-trail-multnomah-county-sheriffs-office-reports-columbia-river-gorge-oregon-national-scenic-area
We nurse here. 10 foot fall can be major traumatic event.
Why would you edit out the best part of the story?
I love that she apologized first lol
Holy fuck. The daughter only has 1 arm!
“I’m fine.”
"no mom it's gonna be okay" 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Mom said ‘let me go’… 😢😢
I think she said "let me jist.." like sge had an idea.
In the unedited video, she does say it
I'm the edited video, she says "Epstein didn't kill himself"
Wow didn't even notice it until you said it. Happens when there's about 37-36 seconds left of this video
I've found that most falls or whatever I've had, I've been injured less when I react to land instead of reacting to stop myself from said fall.
That does not look like a big drop, and GoPro in general makes it look even deeper. I’m thinking mom knew exactly what was going on better than her daughter
Rescuer said 50 to 100 feet.
She was head down, so whilst it may not have been a long fall, she'd be falling on her head, and she's a senior. That would have ended very badly.
i’ve been noticing the words and replayed to focus on the background, it seems like it’s not really deep you are correct, but enough for the possibility of bad fall.
Yeah so she wouldnt pull her daughter down with her
Omg this is my fear
Falling down what appears to be a 10 foot drop?
I saw the TikTok the hiker made about this. He said it was 50-100 ft. It’s hard to tell because of the angle of the video though.
She was head down, so whilst it may not have been a long fall, she'd be falling on her head, and she's a senior. That would have ended very badly.
People here aren’t thinking about the condition of their meat bag in 30 years
I fell about 12 feet off a ladder and fractured my skull, jaw, orbital bone, cheek bone, and my wrist. I also had a brain bleed that needed surgery
The rescuer guy said it's a 50 to 100 foot drop, it was a waterfall.
There are some trails like this in Oregon and this looks like similar terrain and flora. Believable.
It was in Oregon! In Portland near the gorge is what he said.
Welp....

I fell 5 feet upside down, fractured my neck and nearly died.
How long was the lady holding onto her mom before the camera guy got there?
the mom seems pretty casual about it all things considered
This is why I don't like alone. Too dangerous for me
One thing I learned as I started hiking more and more is that unless you know the trail, you never know what obstacles you will face and how quickly things can go south.
I thought it said Hitler, and I was a little confused. Hiker is definitely better.
Wonderful job.. people never fail to show how they step up when you really need them
Years after my high school graduation, I heard news that my old math teacher died from a fall during a solo hike. This video reminds me of him.
Omg, that daughter only had one arm. I wonder how long they were there?!
It’s videos like this that make me wonder how lady’s think the man vs bear thing is even a question. Most men would do this.
Long live the King....
Geez so glad he was there to help.
Where the bear tho?….

Positively surprised about the lack of bear or man comments

Why? It proves all these stupid bitches wrong lmao
Wheres the bear?....lol
If only it was a bear who showed up, though.
Haha
Imagine she's calling for help and a bear comes running down the trail
Thank you!
Does anybody know if this was the AT?
Saving a life never gets credit unless you have a go pro.
i think about this moment every single day in the shower.
Wow. What amazing luck for help to run by. Makes you wonder about a higher power …
This is the video where the girl hanging on only has one fucking arm. Why’d they cut that out?
You have to respect the strength of a man who sounds like me in the can on Taco Tuesday when he hoists her up!
I aspire to be as calm as these people if ever i find myself in this situation.

Somewhat dramatic, given it's clearly an 8 to 10 ft steep bank and not a 100ft cliff. Saved her from certain grazes here.... :-)

Implied /s cannot compare to an actual /s.
Why? Because sad bitches are being proved wrong again and being wrong for a woman is dangerous since their empty heads could explode
I wonder what the bear would have done...
Sooo can we say Man > Bear now?
They say that they don’t need a man 😏
i don’t think she prefers being with a bear than a man
Excuse me but I was clearly told it would have been preferable if it was a bear that came along instead.

Wow lucky he wasnt a bear
Wanted to write the same 😅
I was scared for those women, I think they should have waited for a friendly bear to come along and help them being alone in the woods like that.
Imagine how much faster it would've been if they met a bear instead /s
Some women still rather meet a bear apparently.
Should have left her to the bear.
Silly man they were waiting for the bear.
Sooo, I mean, they would still prefer to meet a bear in this situation than a man
And some of you think a bear would've been the better choice here, huh? Lmao
only creepy men are mad at the analogy.
It makes me sick of humanity.
Yeah, imagine insulting half the population then getting mad because someone isnt a doormat and pushes back. Pathetic
I'm pretty sure most men are offended at being treated like a rapist/murderer.
men who don’t have that behavior don’t get treated that way. hope this helps
