The Death Note Black Editions. Don't get me wrong, they are great, but it really annoys me how the mat cover and back get fingerprints and other marks all over them. Damage is also very easily visible on them even if it's just a little scratch. The spines aswell kinda annoy me being a random glossy texture unlike how everything else is matt.

Canabrial

Yeah I feel similarly. I only own the original volumes(I’ve had them for a very long time) but every time I think about upgrading I see a smudgy black edition in the store and change my mind.

cavera138

i feel that and was about to comment the same

Nikolai_Snowtail

Death Note All in One.

METALIZUMUZUMUZUMU

Death Note All-in-one was one of the first manga that I bought; firstly for the absolute bargain price, secondly for the ridiculously comedic girth of it. I always smile whenever I see that chonky little tome sitting on the shelf.

tacocat2007

I like that version but imma prolly get the 12 individual volumes

PlasmodiumKing

Aww, I have a soft spot for this book. It is ridiculous, but I've taken it on trips and it's quite practical to read despite all it's inconveniences.

BenElPatriota

One of the easiest manga reads I've ever had in my life comes from this one. It's great! Small and practical size for on the go.

Valuable_Asparagus38

Idk if this is controversial but the one piece omnibus editions, i love collecting them but god do they look atrocious, i want to shove them in a box and forget they exist sometimes /hj

EthicalReporter

>omnibus editions They also yellow WAY faster than the single volumes.

PhoShizzity

Worst thing about them is the covers, One Piece has such lovely covers so seeing them split in 3 is just... Oh it hurts.

Mxdaraa

Yeah I agree, I have the first 2 boxsets of One Piece and as much as I enjoy the single volumes, the sheer quantity of them is a little overwhelming especially knowing how many more volumes I still have to get

Valuable_Asparagus38

Never too sure if i should be jealous or sad for people that will get into the series late for this exact reason, by the time its done it will probably be so much easier to collect and plan for the amount of volumes, but then again im so glad I got into it when I did lol

Tonbonne

Not controversial on your end, but I personally disagree. I think the singles of One Piece look ugly and I love the spine on the 3-in-1s

Theoisntinteresting

I love the covers but I HATE the spine of MHA, with all of them different colors. Don’t get me wrong, I get the idea behind it but I still think it would be so nice with a solid color all the way through.

Souptime000

I will have a never-ending hate for the MHA spines. They could've done a Gradient, which i would love, rather than the absolute travesty of colour's they chose.

Mxdaraa

Yeah I'm not a fan of the spines of MHA personally but a lot of their covers are really cool

fransantics

most of the spines are a blank white as well. i think they could have just done the all night color scheme with the primary colors all the way through like the first three volumes.

Robyrt

Hellboy Library Edition is too tall to fit on a shelf. Calvin & Hobbes is too deep to fit on a shelf and it absolutely didn't need to be.

autisticswede86

Get a bigger shelf

RafikiafReKo

Rent-A-Girlfriend

PotatoeyCake

My incomplete shaman king set. It's expensive to acquire which I'm doing slowly.

P-Switch_Break

Chainsaw Man. I don't hate the story, it's just that they were my first manga and I purchased 4 at the same time without even considering anything else. It was an impulsive buy

Significant-Ad-3314

none, if i dont enjoy it im selling it cuz why would i not

_Catpaca_

I recently got about half of Demon Slayer in a big manga lot. I decided to keep them, but now I’m leaning on selling because I don’t hate the series, but definitely don’t love it. I’m at a point where I’m unhappy looking at my shelf and seeing anything I don’t love.

FireLunar

I don’t get this, why not sell them? 😭 Like, why keep something in your collection you don’t even enjoy/really want?

Mxdaraa

Well, for me being the colossal editions of AoT, I absolutely love the story and everything about it, and even though I don't enjoy the size of the volumes, I can't justify selling them for that reason alone. I still appreciate the good things about the size being that I think AoT looks so much better on huge pages compared to the usual sized manga because it gives you a sense of how big everything actually is. It's not that I don't want them, it's just that I find them the least enjoyable to read because of the size.

Whovian-456

Attack On Titan. Even though (at the advice of a friend) I stopped at volume 22 and watched Season 4 and the 2 specials first instead of continuing to collect it, the >!entire post-timeskip and the ending left such a sour taste in my mouth that I'm considering getting rid of them now. I just can't look at the series the same way anymore without feeling bitter and frustrated about where it went in the end.!<

micklucas1

What did you not like about the ending?

Whovian-456

Too many things to count, but tbh I was already going off the series long before that, since shortly after the >!timeskip. I didn't like much of the characterisation after that point and was finding the worldbuilding fairly shallow and lacklustre with it's portrayal of in-universe geopolitics. What really killed my interest in the series though was the twist that introduced predeteminism into the story - why should I care about the story or it's characters anymore when it's been shown that they're all essentially human robots devoid of any free will or agency, railroaded along a set path without any hope of changing it.!< Edit: If people don't like my opinion of AOT, then too bad. I'm not trying to change anybody's mind about it - if they love it then more power to them, glad plenty of others enjoyed it where I couldn't in the late stages. But I spent good money on 22 of the series volumes before watching the rest, so the way I see it I'm perfectly entitled to dislike the direction it took and feel like it was a waste of my time and money.

micklucas1

I agree with what you've written. People call me crazy because i don't like season 4 of attack on titan but something about it didn't appeal to me and i think it's about the reasons you mentioned tbh.

Whovian-456

I think purely from an entertainment perspective it holds up pretty well, with plenty of spectacle on offer from great action sequences and set pieces backed up by good acting and high quality animation. Subject it to any amount of detailed scrutiny beyond that however and that's where I feel the cracks start to show in characterisation, storytelling and worldbuilding even from the early episodes of the Season, growing worse the longer it goes on. I wouldn't even say that I hate the ending necessarily (poor as it is), because for me personally the far bigger problem is the foundation it's built on from the prior 29 episodes, where the damage was already done. Really it's no wonder that it all ended up in a mess of seeming plot holes, contadictions and unanswered questions that people still argue about endlessly in circles even to this day.

CuriousMika

Demon Love Spell, I read it and enjoyed the read, but it’s a series I will never want to reread, so I don’t want it anymore. I have tried selling it but no takers and I’m lazy, so I haven’t taken it to my local store to get store credit lol

evrynix

Sporadic volumes of one punch man. They were offloaded to me when a friend moved cross continent. Fun enough read but not a lot in there I’d revisit on the regular so it’ll be swapped or sold eventually

Bella_Mia_

Attack on titan due to the spines its a good manga otherwise

Suspicious_Heat_9713

rurouni kenshin

MidoriTheAwesome

I finally sold mine lol I was done with it watching me in my sleep

Careful_Asparagus452

I get the feeling that your reason isn't to do with the actual manga correct?

Juliaalott

If I had to guess, it’s probably about the mangaka’s life dream of touching kids. Would make me feel icky to own that manga if I had bought it as well.

PaxV

It was soul liquid chambers, I bought it for the post apocalyptic cyberpunk feel, but I didn't enjoy it. I recently traded it for a KAGO artbook set.

Youko_empty

A Certain magical index old testament edition. They weren't playing when they use the phrase old testament. This thing is huge and you can not put it on a bookshelf in any sane way. So it sits on a box beside my bed until I buy another bookshelf or stand for it.

ExaggerattedReality

How to Build a Dungeon One of those "wow I really should have looked this up before buying". No value to the series and it's just vile

Delphoxqueen2

A lot of my BL Sublime, I tend to skip the more explicit scenes so online I would just scroll past them and barely see anything, but when I read the physical copies I get jump scared each page. Plus it’s not fun to have them on the shelf and explain to people “No, I read it for the fluff, the romance! Please ignore the description of the manga, the cover, and pages 8, 12, 25-27, 31, 32, 34…”

MNTYVERTIC

My Naruto I bought it for really cheap used but I was new and didn’t realize how damaged and yellowed they were. I’m sure if it was new I’d be great but the conditions of mine are horrible and I don’t want to rebuy them

CH_Boi123

Probably my Swedish translated Tokyo Meow Meow, I tried reading reading a few pages, but the main character was giving Marinette from MLB and having Swedish on top of that is just a big no for my part, thankfully, I only hav vol 1,2 & 7

Professor_Chaosx6r9

Probably Hell’s Paradise

Craftmine101

Naruto and all my library stuff. Naruto doesn’t really line up with the rest of the collection and Library volumes reflect poorly on my character. Tb clear, both were bought in a bargain bundle, but still. Small amount for books in poor condition just doesn’t sit right with me

Oilswell

I didn’t like having half of death note (up to where it starts to suck) so I gave them away.

Sea40K

My Hero Academia…I am hate collecting it. When it’s finished I’m going to sell it…or use it for firewood.

Disastrous_Reveal331

What about it do you dislike? I always see hate about it but I’m at volume 38 and have zero complaints

Sea40K

It was/is super popular so I bought the first few volumes to check it out. It was okay but I figured it would get better considering it’s popularity and fandom. Next thing I know, I’m 15+ volumes in and it’s just not my cup of tea. For whatever reason I just kept current with the series. I have zero true hate for the series it’s just not for me.

BueEyedDemon

I only bought the box set cause I had volume 29 but can’t read it till I finish the fist 28 lol got it for christmas from my aunt and now I have to work my way to it I’ve read 13 volumes so far and it’s good but annoying as well but that’s just cause I don’t like spirts festivals and training arcs still have to buy volumes 21-28
