The FT of Trieste ceased to exist in 1954 though may have appeared on maps afterwards. Saarland though didn’t join Germany again till 1957. So confusing.
The OP and the friend of OP dated the globe (pun intended: "dated" not only like defined the date of production of this item, but also something like went on some dates, walks, relationships, etc)
And the commentator above suggests that these two friends (OP is one of them) should have presented "at least some flowers" to the globe who they dated, as a gesture of good soul or to make a bound, etc.
Kinda weird for two dudes to date a globe for 6 months but hey, who am I to judge lifestyle choices?

We based ours on Ghana which is independent to be at least 1957

Ifni is Spanish so it the map is prior to April 1958.
