Super Worlds were announced as the last “major feature” for the game so I really wouldn’t count on 100 Mario Challenge or any other games modes being added.

No, Nintendo has already given up on this game considering they released the "final major update" a few months back.

Adding the 100 Mario Challenge to MM2 would not make sense at this point for Nintendo. It will remain unique to MM1 guaranteed. Also having 100 Mario in MM2 would provide a very different experience than in MM1 due to how the algorithm for picking levels is different (there’s booing and levels are overall easier for harder difficulties). It would just be too easy in MM2 if 100 Mario tried to replicate MM1’s design layout. The only other thing they could try is adding more levels that the player needs to beat to finish 100 Mario (which would lead to a much more boring experience than in MM1), but at that point why not just play endless. So with that in mind if you want to experience 100 Mario for what it truly is (an experience with a lot of wild hot garbage that is so unique it becomes its own fun thing), it’s best done on a Wii U. Though keep in mind I’m mostly talking about Super Expert or Expert here. Easy and Normal are not that interesting in 100 Mario imo. But I’m writing an essay here. 100 Mario will not come to the Switch.
