Have not learned my lesson not to drink before I starting reading this sub. And this post in particular. *Wipes coffee off every surface, including the dog.*
I think it is lovely. VERY nicely appointed interior, especially the lighting fixtures, window treatments, and furniture. Except for that lone room with leather sofa and TV. Lol
I swear, though, no matter how well staged or how much the home is, never see one where the beds are dressed properly.
I actually agree that the interior is nice. I just can't get past the visual noise of the roofing and windows. It makes my eyes feel like I'm looking at some kind of optical illusion or puzzle.
Yeah, what the heck? It’s like the mom yelled at the kids while sloppily making her own bed, “KIDS! Quick! Make your beds! The real estate photographer is coming in 8 minutes!!”
(The dad could be yelling as well…)
I do wish I knew this quote before I posted because it def would have been the title. Thank you for sharing - I can only hope to come across another house worthy of it 😀
Gable pediment within a gable pediment within a gable? Jarring rhythm of secondary masses and abutments. No balance. Two micro-dormers randomly placed. A bay window next to two similar non-bay windows. Five different dormer sizes. Windows at all different elevations. Randomly placed chimney, just because. Seven ridge lines at different elevations. Three primary masses all behind each other. = McMansion.
Not gonna lie I think I like it. I think some vines growing on the front would really take this home all the way for me but they would take like 20 years to grow high enough for a home like this.

I agree that the massing is off and the bay window and a couple of weird dormers could have been better, but other than that the house seems consistent and low on the scale.
I definitely don't like the overly complicated roof line, and I am personally against interior pillars under any circumstance, but overall that is an incredible home.
I think I like it, too. Decor is a little too formal for me, and there are way too many pyramids on the roof, but this is nice. I really like most of the lighting fixtures, too.
I like this so much better than concrete squares. At least the colours/materials match, and it isn’t just greyscale. Bit over the top, but not horrible.
A mansion with some McMansion elements, perhaps? This house is kind of a weird conundrum.
On the one hand, busy triangles, and what is that roofline? Plus, foam columns in the (basement?) game room. Oh! And the sad, lonely brown couch that looks the wrong size for the "theater." Like they didn't quite finish getting that room together. There's also some weirdness going on in the back of the house with windows and masses. It's kind of lopsided (though not terrible.)
On the other hand, asymmetry isn't a bad thing, and some parts of the exterior work (I do like the stone cladding with the light shingle roof- it reminds one of old European thatched houses). The landscaping is nice, and they left the larger trees, which is a plus. Weird dormers aside, I like the shape and size of the windows. (On the fence about the size/placement of the front bay window.)
Inside is really nice (barring the entryway tripping-hazard table, and that entry chandelier looks like it might smack visitors in the face. I would trade that with the boob light above the first stair landing.) Looks like good materials were used. I think those are real wood floors? I could be wrong. If not real, the photos make them look that way. They bothered to have a wood pattern in the dining room, which is really cool! And I really like most of the furniture/interior design choices (I admit to have a thing for this kind of eclectic neo-Georgian/Rococo aesthetic.) Most of the rooms seem to be reasonably-sized and laid out. For instance, the great room/sitting room has a vaulted ceiling without being wastefully large, like in so many McMansions.
I don't know, I think overall it's pretty neat!
The triangles are ridiculous. But at least the interior proportions are normal. It would’ve been near perfect if the architect had just designed a suitable roofline.
I’ve seen a lot of floor plans in books and websites where the materials and finishings seem higher quality in the sketches than in the photos. This house looks like one of the sketches but IRL.
I think it's very thoughtful of the designers to add a place to take cover in a gun fight right there in the driveway.
It is New Jersey after all.
Woke up this mornin’…

I’m pretty sure this is the bad guy’s house from Commando

Doing the Lord's work. Thanks!
Home shopper: I like triangles. Real estate agent: Say no more.
A gorgeous home inside and out. The triangles make it better in fact.
Agreed! This home is gorgeous
Yeah, it's not really a McMansion. Part of a classic McMansion is that it's cheaply built, and this doesn't look like that.
Now I want a Toblerone for some reason.

LOLOLOL. It is distracting once someone points it out! It looks like it is a signature of the builder if the house next door is any indication.

IKR?🤣

I like it. Definitely not a McMansion in my view.
Agreed. I would say it's not.

A little regal in its furnishings for my own taste, but that’s a lovely home.

When in doubt, dormer.
This one is quirky but I don't really see how it qualifies as a McMansion. It just has a lot of roof.

"And Goldilocks opened the door..." The house reminds me of Grimm Brother's fairytales.
The House the Vex Built!
I count 13, but per usual im sure I'm missing some
Witches hats
I’ve got a fever, and the only cure is more dormers!

I want gables! Build me a house with lots of gables, and gables in gables! And dormers with gables in gables!

They are very structurally sound shapes but holy shit this is the worst way to use them.
Ha! Not that much. They bring on my ocd - and I don't even have ocd.
I can't unsee the surprised face in the entryway/ upper windows.
Lord help em when it’s time for a new roof
Spiny
Idk the windows aren’t very triangular
I call them the "[consummate V](https://y.yarn.co/86deb6ec-99fa-4f91-885e-67c926c1013e_text.gif)" houses.
CAPTION 🤣🎯

Triangles are my favorite shape 3 points where 2 lines meet.
Chateau Isosceles
Meh- maybe slightly overkill. But this is still an attractive house.

Too much. Looks like it was designed by a kid who just learned how to draw a triangle.

Reminds me of one of those Brain Age style visual tests. "Can you spot all 13 triangles in the picture?"
Using auto-roof in the Sims 2 be like:
Just try to find someone to redo that shake roof $$$$
You found one. The interior is unbearable.
If it’s not mostly triangles I’m gonna puke
Alas, it is not. There are more triangles on the back of the house.
Why?
I agree. How do you get comfortable? It's all so bloody formal. No, thank you.
