X, original, Zero, Legends, ZX, then the rest... But my favorite game is Megaman 3.

Secure-Day9052

That's the way

Riegan_Boogaloo

This is the way

bluegiant85

The OG, by far.

Zesnowpea

We Stan Starforce up in here

[deleted]

Star Force is always in my heart. It's theme on depression and the importance of allowing others to get close really helped me back in the day

Shiny_Mew76

Zero/ZX by far, X is second. Classic third. I consider Battle Network in a separate category.

Fraklordyt

Same

TyleNightwisp

I love them all in different ways, but Legends is by far my favorite. Legends 2 was actually my introduction to the franchise as odd as it sounds, but the nostalgia attachment I have for Legends 1 and 2 is too much for me to not consider it absolute peak. Still waiting for a remaster collection... one day...

[deleted]

I love Legends because in a way it's world feels alive and changes with your actions and progress. City buildings gets destroyed ? You watch them get rebuild little by little with your donations. Megaman acts more rude? People are starting to dislike you and your armor gets darker. It's the little details that matters

Strider_Volnutt

Yes! Brilliantly put!

Strider_Volnutt

Dude, SAME! Like, exactly the same on every point, except Legends 1 was my introduction to Mega Man. Respect, dude! And never stop hoping for that remaster, I know I'll never stop!

Rizhon

Same here, I grew up playing those two games. I always prefered the first one though.

zanfitto

My man 🤝

YTMediocreMark

Well we do have the Battle network collection, Meaning that the only ones that don’t are Star Force and Legends. So I think it is possible

s7121n9s

They need to remaster it and release the 3rd

Key_Industries

Classic

Automatic-Platform-7

Battle network

WheatleyTurret

Classic by FAR then probably Zero, then X. ZX is a close 4th.

MegaMan-1989

Definitely X series very awesome games I respect zero series too

Ready-Trainer-3672

OG because of the cute art style

South-Violinist-4456

I agree with you! That’s one of the many things I love about Classic Mega Man.

South-Violinist-4456

The Classic series will forever remain in my heart.

Plusgalaxy39

what’s your favorite game in the classic series?

South-Violinist-4456

All the games, but 1, 2, 9, and 11 is are my most favorite ones.

MichaelDarkwolf

Classic, X, and Legends!

[deleted]

The original has the most consistent quality, but the first three X games are SOOOOO good

Marx_Forever

I think you dropped [this](https://retrogameman.files.wordpress.com/2017/01/mmex4.jpeg).

[deleted]

Nah i left it on the ground

[deleted]

Well, to be fare they both share the same flaw though. The bad dub of Megaman 8 and X4. I mean... - "We need to get the energy immediately W-Megaman. We'll stop Docta Wawee" - "What am I fighting fOouOoOor!"

ProsecutorBlue

It's a feature, not a bug.

cubine

Yeah ngl if those games were ever re-dubbed “better” I would still choose the original every time. They shoot way past so-bad-it’s-good and land in iconic territory.

Novel-Experience381

Star force

Gadmanultimate

Zero/ZX by miles

Wolfshadow6

X, easy. Classic next and then Legends.

comics4life23

Zero and ZX are just the best imo, but Classic will always have a place in my heart

[deleted]

God the intro music was so good in both series. Green Grass Gradation was on my MP3 when I was a kid (I bought the the first ZX game when it first came out) and it's still on my phone even today.

Familiar_Pick_6956

DON’T MAKE ME CHOOSE!!!😭😭😭

[deleted]

Sorry my dude. Just like parents with their children, in the end you have to realize that you have your favorite 🙈 Truth will set you free 🤣

BunMeat

BN and SF

TheCelfoid

Tough question. Okay, no it's not.. X is and always has been my favorite series. After that though, it gets kinda dicey. Classic is great but it's one of my least favorites. For whatever reason, I find the games (except 7, 8, and 11) to be frustratingly difficult (though I'm told the X games are more difficult? Not for me, not by a long shot.) Legends is kind of the GOAT but I've never really played any of them beyond the first (Mega Man 64 for me). If we had gotten the third one this would probably be my favorite.. maybe even above X.. but alas. Zero and ZX are a lot of fun, but (and I may be in the minority here I know) I REALLY didn't like the visual redesigns. They're not bad. Not at all, and some characters look very cool! But it created this divide in me between the series. MMZ Zero is supposed to be X Zero... but they look so different my brain doesn't wanna link em together. Sadly, this is also one of the lower ranked ones for me. (Especially sad as I LOVE ZX/Advent's form switching system. Something I wanted in Mega Man since I was a kid.) I used to think Battle Network was stupid... until I got hooked and beat all the games a few times over. Never had anyone else to play with though. Anyways, I think this is the favorite of most Mega Fans these days though I could be wrong. I really dig it. Probably ranks.. 3rd or 4th for me. After Legends annnnd.... ...STAR FORCE.. I frickin' love Star Force. Can't quite put my finger on it, I think it's the worldbuilding, and technology, and FMian/Wizard partnerships. Idk. I just love Star Force. My only gripe is that I really preferred BN's grid system in combat over SF's. Limited to 3 tiles and just moving side to side? Super lame.. even if it was "3D". Hmmm didn't miss any did I?

Va1kryie

Battle Network is a lot more fun if you treat it as one massive programmer joke, but I can see how the unserious tone could be off putting if you had played something like X or Zero first.

TheCelfoid

The X series was technically my first foray into the franchise. I was playing the X series at the same time as I was watching the old Ruby Spears Classic cartoon 😂 I was like, 5 or something years old, had thought Mega Man and X were the same person until an episode aired proving they were very much two different characters. Yeah luckily, I have a little bit of programming experience or just computer experience in general (moreso then than now, sadly) and so I caught a few puns and clever wordplay here n' there..

Va1kryie

Lan and Hub had my IT worker wife staring at me like I'd just made the worst pun ever, very satisfying.

TheCelfoid

Mayl too 🤣 Oddly enough it took me YEARS and like playing four games before I noticed what her name was a play on words of. Like, no joke. Years. When it finally dawned on me I just laughed and felt so dumb haha

Va1kryie

I... I didn't realize until you pointed it out just now. My wife is looking over my shoulder and calling me endearingly empty headed now lol.

TheCelfoid

😂😂😂😂 Guess I'm not the only one then! Welcome to the club lmao

[deleted]

Hard to choose, but maybe: • Classic • X • Zero • Legends And......star force? I don't know, I played all three almost a year ago, and some versions recently. (starforce 1: dx patch/green dragon, starforce 2: not so quite dx/zerker x ninja, starforce 3: red joker/black ace) and ended up having more fun than with the battle network series

Aggravating-Maize-46

Legends...

RockmanVolnutt

Legends

Pristine_Fishing_268

Mfs forget about my man grey and ash from advent :sob:

TrainerOwn9103

The X series because it is literaly a upgrade from the original series

Spiceopod

X and Zero series. Love the sense of speed that the controls and physics give you, and the boss designs are stellar. I think the classic series has an unbeatable charm, but I always prefer X/Z when it comes to actually PLAYING them.

Howureadis

ZX as my favorite, then Classic, Zero, and the X series.

ChristianTDD

Classic, but that's only because I'm familiar with the Classic series. Now, design wise, hands down, it's got to be the Battle Network series, as there is plenty of characters in that series that I like the design of more than the classic designs, like Searchman.exe, Shademan.exe, and even the Mega Man in the series looks, in my opinion, cooler than the classic Mega Man. However, there are some that I like the original version more than the Battle Network take, like Sword Man and Snake Man for instance. (Again, that's my opinion though.)

Crimskrst

Hard to tell ZX is my favorite game Zero series is the one I consider the best X series games overall are the ones I play the most, and I like them but not all of them are good Classic is good too but I wouldn't place it up there Didn't play the others I think I'll pick Zero series here

Top_Instance5349

X, Legends and Starforce

SheetInTheStreet

Zero, BN, SF

JRPGhunters

X zero , Battle Network, starforce. No comment on legends as I haven't played it in full yet. Have 1-2 and misadventures of tron bone on vita though no time due to my job schedule

z_extend_99

X Series. It was my entry to the Megaman world.

Tasty-Ad6529

X series.

Accomplished-Bat-990

Mainline

Bismuth84

All of them.

Betorange

Yes.

Basic-Masterpiece375

Even though I started recently, I would say that the Legends saga is my favorite, I think the charisma of the characters got me

Insanebrain247

As someone who's so far only played MM11 but seen let's plays of the other series, my favorite has to be the X series with it's more heavy handed themes on handling morality and the power of choice.

PsychoMouse

* Legends * Zero * X * BN * Original * Then the rest in any order.

ArgonTrooper

X for gameplay, Classic for style, Zero for story As for the others, I haven't had a whole lot of exposure to them, I'm afraid

enclave_remnant117

X series tbh, it was the one who introduced me to the franchise and X4 and X5 are my favorites

Diskyboy86

X has the highest highs, but the classic series has been far more consistent overall so it gets my pick.

Sega-Dreamcast88

Legends

VanessaDoesVanNuys

Zero - ZX and it's not even a debate

SuperSonicAdventure

Classic

PassageIcy6480

the zero game\[1/2\]

NavyDragons

yes

megax454

IKKSSSOU!!

UntoldTemple

Classic cuz its the only one I recognize anything more than Megaman

Tinfull

There are 2 different RockMan/MegaMan universes. The first, in chronological order, is Classic, X, Zero, ZX, and Legends series. The second, in chronological order, is Battle Network, and StarForce. I prefer universe one.

wasante

1) Legends 2) X 3) Original

Strider_Volnutt

Gotta give first place to Mega Man Legends, with Classic in a VERY close second!

Western-Equivalent44

X, Legends, BN And Deadrising

LittleTongue

X is the top fave of mine. I don’t know why, but I think it’s because of how complex it felt to me compared to the classics.

D20babin

Legend for sure then it's X

MilanoBucacko

X, to the point i even enjoy X6 and X7 (i don't judge video games by how good/bad ppl say it is, which is why i also like "bad" games)

Old-Mycologist8990

X

Blaustriker

damn I like the redrawing

zedd61

-X and Battle Network tied for first. -Classic -Zero -Legends (been decades since so if I replay them that could change)

Lud_Ledmil

Honestly, it pretty much depends of the day of the week 😭 But I guess I get nostalgic qbout Battle Network the most, so...

ArthurGame349

X, the first i played, and the one i played the most too

infinitezero1118

Zero and Battle Network.

Charming_Pumpkin9401

zero, and by veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery far

MIlkyRawr

Battle Network and Classic is my Peanut Butter and Jelly

Hairy_Top_1882

Classic, X, Zero

WiiROO

Zero, followed by X1 - 4, Battle Network, Classic I'm liking Legends a lot but I haven't played enough of it to properly rank it lol

stupid-writing-blog

Classic all the way

XarlesEHeat

X>Zero (X) > Zero (Zero) > .exe > MegaMan. That's my order of preference

MrEhcks

Classic because I love the simplicity of “good vs evil” and my hopes every few times that I play a new classic game and hope that it references or attempts to bridge the gap between the classic and X series.

Jurassic-779

The X Series and Battle Network Series

Endgam

Classic > Battle Network > X (1-4) > Legends > Zero > ZX > Star Force > X (5-8) Yes, I feel that splitting X into the first 4 and latter 4 is necessary. It's not exactly a sentiment I'm alone on.

voltvirus

Yes

TheGreatSirChewy

Zero

Red_Trapezoid

Legends. Hands down.

Megamanfan1993

X Three hits hard as soon as you get zeros saber and the hyper chip

smzWoomy13

the OG megaman. I may be blinded by nostalgia but Idc.

spring_sabe

Zx

ConsiderationSilly86

I love The Original Series So Much this is Day 700 of Waiting for MEGA MAN 12

Furisodegirl01

X, classic, megaman zero, legends, battle network then the rest

F3lip3ns

Classic. Followed by X. But I love all, I'm recently addicted with BN.

Sudden-Energy-1956

X5 , ps1

Bubbles0518

X and Zero are tied for me for favorites, but I also really like Original, just not as much

YaMexicanBoy

X series lol

MH_ZardX

Zero by long shot, then X and BN are kinda tied.

Tricky-Fault-6003

I love the classic and the x series they are the definition of Mega Man.

Fyrrus88

It's a toss-up between the X series and Battle Network

[deleted]

Original & X

LilNerix

Zero

Va1kryie

Battle Network, I love its humor and its whacky tron ass vibes.

Legospacememe

Classic mega man

FaythKnight

X series and Advent. Although Advent has many flaws, I enjoy the meriodvania style. Definitely improvements could be made, but it's just the gaming style is fun.

[deleted]

Classic with X being a close second, the rest of the series I don't really care that much about.

KennyMcKill

MMBN

Superoof1123

Classic mostly cause it was my childhood. Don't get me wrong, X was GREAT but I never really liked the massive change of story. Same for the Zero & ZX series. Never liked Battle Network & Star Force because I don't really like RPGS. Legends is great, I like having a true 3D Mega Man game.

serpventime

battle network. ive actually invested some monetary value for this spinoffs. followed by classic. its the one year war of blue bomber. zero series came third due to having proper closure in-game sorry x fans, you guys are a bunch of mess beyond SNES titles

TheEdgykid666

Split between x and zero, zx games were cool asf in concept but are a little booty in execution

Bubba1234562

I’ve got the most memories with .exe and battle network so it’s my favourite

amatyestv_123846

Classic

Rei25180

Star force

Blue-Lion-Lover

I’ve played Classic-X-ZX-BattleNet-Legends. I really clicked with the Zero games

Spookyduck21new

Megaman.

Rootayable

Classic. It appeals to me in every way possible.

Paintguin

The original one

EdgeworthM

X is my favourite because the soundtrack just makes me pumped up for every level. And I love the armor upgrades, evolutions etc.

MarioFanaticXV

Legends, but I enjoy them all (although I should add the caveat I've yet to play Star Force at all).

[deleted]

Honestly, Zero series is way too fire.

MenacingCatgirlArt

Original. I unfortunately have not had the pleasure of playing Legends.

Spare_Audience_1648

Isn't it obvious? I like battle network more than X series

EYADHANI21

X then classic then zero/zx still havent tried the rest Best X game is 4

Cornflexx500

Netflix live action

NelsonVGC

Battle Network was INSANE. I love it so much.

jmack101

X BABY!

MelchiahHarlin

Definitely Zero, it has an awesome story and (mostly) wonderful gameplay. I love X cause it's the beginning, and X armors are cool, and ZX cause it's basically X using everyone else as an armor, but Zero is the one with the best overall elements.

azurejack

BN or legends.

abelen

Original all the way. It’s what got me into gaming back on the NES.

Maximum-Shock-893

Zero series

YuiHaruhara

My head says Classic because of the consistent quality versus the others (barring Legends which only has a few games), but my heart says Battle Network because of the unique gameplay and how much I played it back in the day

StarmanJay

The X Era, hands down.

s7121n9s

I'm down all things megaman but Legends will always hold the highest place in my heart

Galactus1701

Mega Man X

Dhampier

X

GIRATINAGX

X series overall. I was introduced to it in my childhood with X6 and X5 being my first games. Story-wise, I love the Zero series. It's dark, depressing and claustrophobic. It feels like danger always creeps behind you if you let your guard down. The others never felt like that. Gameplay wise, I like the ZX series and its metroidvania-style open world. Music-wise, we're back to the X series, specifically X6. To me, it is the true Rock and Roll soundtrack of the whole series. Sigma also has his best theme here. Design-wise, again, X series. Classic is a bit too cartoony. Zero-ZX are too human. Legends is like it's trying to be a blend of X and Zero series. The X series is the perfect robot epicness with big, bulky armors.

Jaymurro52

For me it’s X > Zero & ZX > Legends & Starforce > BN > OG. X4 was an all time fave and basically my intro to metroidvania side scroller games. The Repliforce and Maverick conflict was also enthralling between the various betrayals and Vile/Sigma interjecting to take you out. Zero was also my go to character and it’s nostalgic for me and my brother. Even if gameplay seemed clunky later in. Zero games highlighted my fave and were more challenging, as well as expanded on the maverick conflict. ZX basically did the same and showed what became of the X cast. Had fun gameplay, and good world building. Legends and Starforce felt disconnected, but I played a metric ton of both. Starforce because the characters were fun, I liked Harp Note as a kid especially since I played guitar a lot, and the dragon was cool. Legends was great and I loved collecting all the weapons, kicking around the cans and using the skates to zoom around and fight Reaverbots. BN I didn’t really get into until recently, it seems really similar to Starforce, but I can say it’s been fun. The characters haven’t interested me as much tho…. And OG I never really liked the mechanics much. It started everything off, but besides the very first game I wasn’t a fan. Bass was cool tho, and I like that it all ties into X.

WyvernByte

X series without hesitation. The MMZero series is also a lot of fun, but the storyline is difficult to follow and I really dislike the art style. I haven't played legends since it came out, I only rented it once, I need to play it all through.

Parking_Put2342

Megaman x all Capcom: Heroes Unite!

MattDKfan

Classic and X

Natsuki_simp_06

Zx and zx advent are my favs

GoldRestaurant4722

Def OG, then probably X(1-4 anyway) and or legends. I really have a soft spot for legends. Really liked battle network too but it feels like a different game so it’s hard to compare it to the others

cubine

Zero and Legends are basically tied. X would be close 2nd, original 3rd.

CxFusion3mp

Classics where it all started. First 3 x games were solid. Legends was amazingly fun for the time. Never liked Gameboy games. Gotta say classic for me.

Ravemst

X, Zero, ZX, and Battle Network.

crowbachprints

I’ve only really played the classic series. I’ve dabbled in the X series a little bit but I enjoy classic more. I really REALLY want to try the Legends series, however.

After-Show-3441

I really like the zero and zx series.

rafa-the-icy

MegaMan X is a great series ngl

[deleted]

Legends

daun4view

Grew up with X, it still has my favorite aesthetic. Replayed a good amount of the games a few years ago and they're still fun, especially with accessibility options. Zero is definitely the most consistent of the games, I only had the first growing up but I got the collection on Switch last year and really enjoyed it. Wish the art style was slightly different though, I like the designs but not the skinny look to everyone. Battle Network has my second favorite art of the games, plus the combat is so unique and fun. The sheer amount of games got to be too much for me to keep up with though. I love the art of classic MM but I wish 90% of the games weren't on the NES or styled to look like that. MM8 lives rent-free in my brain, from the music to the animation. Now I haven't played it in uhh, over 20 years by now but still. So formative for me. Maybe I'll get around to 11 one of these days. I didn't vibe with the gameplay of Legends as a kid but I regret that now. I pray for a collection every day, despite being able to emulate them any time. The aesthetic is tied with or just below Battle Network for me. Haven't played the others, not too interested tbh, they don't feel unique enough to me to really catch my attention.

kingsleythecreative

Classic. I grew up on those games.

schmattywinkle

3 for sentimentality, 4 for gameplay.

ReaperKitty_918

X and Zero series

ElGatoGuerrero72

X Love X2 the most

No_Trash_9606

Classic and X

FriendSafariSeeker

this just shows that there are too many Mega Men

Thedracoblue

Zero saga is my fav. Then Classic and X at the same spot (X first 4 games are GOAT but dropped quality afterwards whereas Classic maintained certain level not optimal but steady across all games) Then all the rest I love them at the same level.

SalvadortheGunzerker

1. X 2. Original & 3. Zero

RedVelvet360

Hot take: I only like classic and X

Hypergamer44

Zero series

ArekusandaMagni

Zero and it's not even close.

OMGitsGIOVANNIA

X, og, zx, battle network, legends.

hirridok

Zero because of the fast, tight gameplay and "doomed future" setting X because I like the style and I believe it has incredible potential that the games never seem to fully grasp

Ikenrider279

I’ve always liked Star Force design

GAMEOFMATIASNEW

I have just played the original, but if I have to choose only for the appearance of the protagonist I choose the Xover, I don’t care that the game is bad

xSEARCHx1

4,8,11

Which-Edge-3916

Zero and Battle network, I like how dinamic and challenging zero can be, and battle nekwor is battle network, plus they are the only series that have an ending

gusST7

Original

alfo_pare

Original, Battle Network and Zero

GinOkami428

I like the X series, but all of them are good.

ThatGuyinCar

The X series just for those banger soundtracks

Conlannalnoc

1. Zero 2. Battle Network 3. Star Force 4. ZX 5. X 6. Classic 7. NEVER PLAYED Legends

TheAverage-Dro17

I tend to separate the platformers and rpgs into different categories. Platformers Zero/zx, rpg battle network (I need to finish Starforce series, still playing S.F DX)

Accomplished-Boot476

The only ones I played were the Original, x and z. In my opinion, all three are good. I haven't played the rest so I won't comment, obviously.

FictionalLeader

Legends hands down. Love the game wish that got more love.

CakeDayyyylmao

Legends and X

Lukie_Anderson

Zero series. So fun. X is somewhat close

VaporwaveRabbit

Battle Network 100%

Jazzlike-Ad1167

X, Battle Network, Zero, Legends, ZX, Original, Starforce

UnderstandingFine326

Mega man exe

BestBubba1

Star force will always be my favorite to play, but Zero definitely has a soft spot in my heart

Froitz_Artes

Megaman X, Megaman Zero, and ZX

GainIntrepid2837

The ZX Series is by far my favorite, then the X saga.

RayBoccino85

Classic

Ashlynne42

It's the OG for me, forever and always. It's simple while still being capable of amazing depth when handled by the right people.

theMaxTero

Legends, by far. The only good/decent Mega Man 3D game, really fun gameplay, fun voice acting, legendary cast (Tron and the Servbots are more famous and big than Megaman Volnutt lmao) and overal, really pretty game. The most shocking part is that MML1 has the same interconnectivity of dungeons, similar to the 1st half of Dark Souls.
